...but the audio keeps playing? It'll freeze or do a really long stutter for up to 5 seconds or so. It doesn't happen constantly but enough to be annoying.

I first noticed it with Ghost Wire Tokyo and thought it was just the game. Then I saw it with AC Valhalla and Horizon FW so it has to be the PC. All drivers and BIOS have been updated, tried different HDMI cables.

You hit a bottleneck and need to start turning down settings.

I tried dumbing down graphic settings and putting it in 1080p and still had issues.

That sounds like a thermal problem. Please repaste your CPU tc. See youtube for tutorial.

What resolution and settings are you playing at and what sort of frame rate are you getting? If youre trying to play at max youre probably just bottlenecked.

If youre trying to play at 4K highest preset no DLSS, that should be under 60 FPS, as for the original Horizon, a calculator I found is saying 55 average and 41 1% low. However at 1440p it says 101 average and 76 1% low.

At High or the highest order with certain settings turned down and DLSS Quality, you should get much better performance for an almost indiscernible visual degrade as DLSS3 Quality is very good.

Ray Tracing is also a massive performance hit in most games, so try turning that off if youre having problems.

Now that you mention it, this is a likely cause. Id suggest IP install HWInfo to monitor the CPU temp during a gaming session first though. Check that against whatever temps that CPU is supposed to run at. I think the newer Intel CPUs are specced such that 95C is not a problem, but they only had to do that because theyre putting out way too much heat as it is. If its over 70C in games Is repaste, and maybe get a better cooler depending on what yours is.
