As someone who joined the military at 18... what about the other hopeless people out there who need a calling in life but didn't earn the grades or have the money to actually attend college? There are few viable opportunities besides minimum wage jobs that we all know are unsustainable.

Lol, I already said I'd be fine increasing the age for joining the military.

I also have zero problem with cigarettes being made illegal, that shit killed my dad and my Nonno.

Also I absolutely think we need more restrictions on gambling than we currently have.

All 3 of those things in actually have far stronger feelings about than women having to wait until they're 21 to become a stripper, with regards to that I just find it hard to care, I don't have strong feelings about it.

They should probably increase most controversial affairs to 21. A lot of 18 year olds are still in high school and don't know the first thing about being an adult yet. I've seen some young girls having to cope with alcohol and drugs due to sleazy visitors at strip clubs.

Might be for some people but for others I think there's genuine belief there especially when they want consistency with the 21 drinking limit. They just don't realize that they're going about the consistency from the wrong end as 21 drinking age is an American exclusive thing and the vast majority of social people have casually drank before then anyway.

Simple: they're expected to commit crimes to make up the difference or else be rendered homeless. Either way, they then get arrested and funneled into the prison system, where they'll then spend much of their remaining lives turning a profit for private prison magnates and making it easier for Republicans to "win" elections by being removed from the voter pool.

Yup. And note that this leaves 0% left for protecting women from reckless choices, because that's not factored in. Stripping is actually the safest type of sex work, the hardest to get started with, has the least pressure to "go further" and risk harming oneself, and leaves the least "records" that could come back to haunt you. So it's actually making the world more dangerous for these young women.

  • voting
  • alcohol sales
  • gun sales
  • sex work
  • military service
  • marriage


Picking and choosing ages for when people are allowed to do stuff seems like bullshit to me (and I'm personally against some of the things on my list)

Every country needs some form of protection; a military to defend their turf. You will be at the mercy of those around you if you do not have a force to impose your will.

The latter two, lust and gluttony, are vices. They're not exactly required for a functioning society but people want them anyway. If left unchecked, they could cause adverse effects to society at large. With stripping, you're putting women in precarious environments that are ripe with drugs and could lead to abuse or trafficking. With alcohol, if left unchecked, car crashes and other destructive actions that could hurt those around you awaits.

Mind you these are the reasoning in principles for the military, I'm not factoring in the US' abuse of the military to further "the powers that be"'s goals that have nothing to do with supporting the American people. And the latter two are reasons in practice.

The conservative/liberal slant is going to be a factor because conservatives and liberals have generally different ideas on what's good and bad.
