How much you wanna bet he didn't flip shit like this about Valhalla having horned helmets and claymore swords? If it really is all about historical accuracy then that's even more egregious than using a well known of but largely mysterious historical figure as a main character.

This.

blackrider keeps whining about historical accuracy in a series that adheres to it loosely at best.

You're not slick, dude, it's remarkably evident exactly why you have such a huge issue with this.

In terms of the game itself, it certainly doesn't matter because AC gave up on "semi-historical accuracy" a long time ago, so who he was and what he did in life doesn't really matter to his in-game self. As a general trope, I think Yasuke in particular seems to be weirdly overused after he had some kind of cultural emergence in the last few years. I understand why people may want to explore him as a person and as a character, but I guess it can come off as kind of lazy as well because a lot of it is just turning him into an original character.

When you keep citing BUT THE ANIME as a testament to his supposed popularity, as if I didnt already address that several times already, then naturally Im gonna stop paying attention to that.

I doubt people will remember the Yasuke anime as much as Afro Samurai.

Saying that we dont know what Yasuke did is kind of a moot point when the new shogunate un-personed him and destroyed almost all records of his existence.

Likethat kind of makes it hard to find any set number of duels or battles or anything.

Heck, even with people like Musashi Miyamoto, we still dont have any actual evidence that he was in the battle of sekigahara. He claims he was, but theres no proof.

Imma just say, I don't know who this "Musashi" guy is he keeps bringing up, but I knew of Yasuke. So really, which one is "better-known", not that that matters anyway? As mentioned, Yasuke is a perfect choice for an AC game, as the characters are not meant to be well-known historical figures. That would kind of go against the whole assassin "we work in the dark to protect the light" mantra.

musashi miyamoto. Probably the most commonly used historical figure from the time. Hes basically the default samurai cameo for any fiction taking place in that time period. He had 3 confirmed duels, some poetry, and outside of that a lot of myth and feats that cannot be confirmed. Basically like Johnny Appleseed. More folk hero and legend that has a bit of historical accuracy.

Umokay, I agree that blackrider76 is acting kind of like a clown, and I dont know why people are still engaging them. But uhhhcitation needed. Because I dont remember that. At all. Even remotely.

What I do remember was proper criticism of having a black character be a criminal stereotype.

Were going backwards socially, thats why examples of things that no one cared about in the past are relevant. Like a woman protagonist in Alien, or the black samurai in Neo Contra. Trump even tried running for PotUS in 2000 and unofficially in 2012 and both went nowhere.

The internet is the greatest tool for spreading information, but also disinformation. It can provide both the most complex knowledge of reality, as well as the most ignorant opinions of people. We could be using such a great resource to further examine the mysteries of life, but instead we get trapped in a cycle of consuming hateful and fearful garbage ad infinitum.

Most of those topics and posts have long since been purged, since GameFAQs didn't start archiving topics until January 2008. By then, people had either cooled down, or the more problematic people have left or gotten banned.

He's not "overused" yet but I feel like there's been a bit of a fad to make things about him. The fact that we know almost nothing except for "He Existed" and "He was a slave from India that Nobunaga made into his body guard" means you can template anything you want on him.
