4 years ago she was the frontrunner then collapsed. her whole "I'm a top tier candidate" schtick was legitimately a real thing not long before that. she was the donors' favorite for months before they considered Pete, and all that's before South Carolina where they realized Bernie was gonna Trump the primaries and fucked him over in a weekend. you can find videos of progressive outlets at that time that called her fake, laugh included. at the time trump was even going with "phony kamala," which really does show that he sucks at finding a nickname with her. but also shows that it was a noteworthy opinion.

I will. It's a stupid made up reason to give for not supporting someone because it's more palatable than saying "I won't vote for her because she's a woman and I'm a misogynist".

My point is that people will say she is "full of herself" even if all she is doing it pointing out why she is more qualified (and less of a criminal) than her opponent. She could be considerably LESS full of herself than Trump actually is, but it will still be touted as a strike against her.

I'm not talking to hypothetical voters who are going to use whatever justification they can to not vote for her. Racists and Misogynists are going to dress it up however they want, and their vote was never really in play.

I'm talking to YOU and telling YOU that repeating and normalizing the kind of shit justification that THEY say is not doing any good. The only discussion it deserves is being mentioned to say "can you believe some people are going to hold that against her when her opponent is significantly more guilty of the same trait that they are singling out??".

But instead you drop it as "hopefully she's not so full of herself this time" which is already starting from an assumption of "yes she IS often full of herself" which hasn't even been established. You can count me in the camp that thinks her status as a DA is primarily what held her back in 2020. But I wanted Yang to accelerate our country towards automation and UBI so she wasn't near the top of my list at that point anyways.

But every clip I see somehow makes this whole situation seem that much worse. Just with the timelines of what people knew, a recreation of what happened, the complete failure to secure the perimeter, it's also actually so awful looking that if this did turn out to be some kind of conspiracy to kill Trump then I wouldn't be surprised because at least all of this would make more sense than them screwing up so terribly in every single way.

Because I didn't realize they messed up this badly.

this is reality. reality is neither a thing of 'doing any good' or 'normalizing shit justification,' it's seeing it and planning around what you don't like. the discussion it deserves is directly correlated to the impact it has, not a moral issue. if you find it frustrating that people are immoral or dicks alright, fair, but if that's the election then that's what matters.

Something very similar happened in the 2016 UK Conservative Party leadership contest where Theresa Mays opponent Andrea Leadsom basically implied that because May never had children she wasnt fit to be PM, and the blowback was so bad Leadsom needed to drop out. for dems, course not. already said a while back that it doesn't matter, they'll ride whatever not trump train works.
for independents, most support the move but it doesn't mean they'll vote for her either.
narrative spin and character assassination there is all meant to a) rile up the republican base so they'd turn out, and b) get whatever independent voters however they can. individually this piece doesn't matter much, bundle it with everything else to try to paint a picture of who she is and you've got your fox news media spin. shouldn't matter, but does.

it was a good, and well-received book, though...supposedly. I wouldn't really know, but all signs point to it having been a successful book.

however, that is literally the only thing he has going for him as far as past successes go. One good book. No actual career or policy success that is noteworthy.

As far as legitimate Republican attacking points on Harris. They will point to her handling of the border, which, I'm not exactly sure what she did right or wrong in that regard, but they love pointing that out.

They will also point to all the infighting she had in her cabinet early on in her term as Vice President. Remember she like cleaned house there, some nasty rumors floated around about the toxic environment of it. Supposed feelings of imposter syndrome mixed with a very arrogant attitude in spite of that.

Of course, the above paragraph would be a perfect summary of the Trump Presidency as well, so not sure how much weight that has either.
