Talk no jutsu itself is just a byproduct of making the villain sympathetic, and the hero trying to talk them down. And since they're sympathetic villains, they tend to listen in the end.

I get this. The main theme of the show is ending the cycle of hatred, so it was important part of his character.

I genuinely believe anime needs some form of regulation because of illegal stuff like lolicon existing. It'll help the industry in the long run.

Talk no jutsu itself is just a byproduct of making the villain sympathetic, and the hero trying to talk them down. And since they're sympathetic villains, they tend to listen in the end.

I think this leads to the actual problem, which is that narutos villains are increasingly hard to sympathize with. Being a traumatized child soldier plays a huge part of multiple villains backstories, but their actions are mass murdering at best, genocidal at worst.

Its original meaning is "sexualized female child". Otaku insist that it's evolved into just meaning female child but they're fooling themselves, it inherently has the sexual connotation even when used "innocently". It's basically just used the same way jailbait is so unless the character is explicitly sexualized the term speaks more of the person that uses it.
And speaking of that, that describes Ghost. In literally anything related to anime he literally without fail will bring up lolicon (which is specifically the type of porn so his post is like saying anthro characters should be regulated to stop furry porn) every time. He's overly obsessed with it to the point he's clearly telling on himself. He's also someone who only sees women as sex objects since he believes the primary reason people like female characters is because of sexual attraction. If you remember who Endgame was, he's trying to take up his mantle.

Oh, I have one. Naruto was only good/fun in the early dub when he said "Believe it!" every other sentence.

While I've no objection to adults watching well made children's works, the vast majority of popular shonen is overly long, atrociously obnoxious and loud, vapid, infantile shite and its a sad reflection on fans of the medium that they religiously follow such mediocre content.

Being a drawing and secretly 700 years old does not suddenly make pedophilia or sexual assault of any sort OK.

If a show takes 7 or so episodes to be watchable, maybe its just not a good show.

Related to this, I feel like far too many anime fans are willing to watch any old rubbish just because its anime, as opposed to actually trying to curate the gems from the medium.

They were children trying to survive the fallout of a war they had no responsibility for, or way to stop. Again, these were fucking children. If you dont feel bad for kids suffering because of the actions of the adults in their government then thats incredibly fucked up

Its not a sob story, it was look into the aftermath of bombing from the perspective of children trying to survive things they didnt understand, which did in fact happen in real life to countless children.

I will try to see things your way given a chance to rewatch. I admit readily that my take is messed up.

But I enjoyed Naruto from start to finish since, despite how insane the story got (lol power creep, but Dragon Ball did it famously first), it stuck to its guns and actually finished, and outside from a few moments of the manga (anime got too filler heavy so I ignored it), I generally felt satisfied with it.

One Piece's general look and overly odd main character never grabbed me, and by now with how it's still going makes me very leery of trying to start checking it out...

Bleach wound up pissing me off for a variety of reasons, but to me, it got formulaic as hell and by the 1,000 Year Blood War arc, I was completely tapped out.
...And then it suddenly ended.

Guilty pleasures aren't the problem, sensory overload is. These works are borderline impenetrable because of how aggressively obnoxious they are. Typically, when I enjoy critically panned works its because one or two elements occasionally elevate it above the gutter and make tolerating the rest of the piece worth it. I don't get that with most shonen. Nothing in them seems like its worth the effort and like with a few recent mcu productions, it feels like people are watching it more because of a weird brand loyalty than because they actually consistently see these diamonds in the rough.

Which kind of hits on my first point. The sheer melodrama of such trivial games being treated as universe changing matters is the one element that elevates it above mediocrity. Now imagine an anime that's borderline identical to these 2, no attempts at any real novelty within the genre whatsoever, only a different game to keep things legally distinct, and realise that people will religiously consume such a work for no reason other than its anime. That's what I find odd. Looking for guilty pleasures or elevating elements is fine. Deliberately sitting in front of especially loud white noise seems weird.

I agree. I don't necessarily think exaggerated reactions are a bad thing, but the specific copy/paste faces that they generally use for them are just annoying.
