Yuuup. That asshole has replaced Gallant.

https://www.timesofisrael.com/katz-formally-replaces-gallant-as-defense-minister-holds-assessment-with-security-chiefs/

Israel Katz formally became defense minister on Friday after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fired Yoav Gallant on Tuesday night.

Addressing Gallant, former Financial Minister Katz said, We were friends and we will remain friends because we believe in the same things that will ensure the security and future of the State of Israel, the Jewish State. I promise you that the entire State of Israel will emerge from the campaign and from the pain to much higher places.
Gallant, in his parting speech, said he was leaving the role with great pain over the loss [of lives], and for what has not yet been completed, the return of the hostages.

Netanyahu said that the two disagreed on the management of the war, and that Gallant had made statements and taken actions that contradicted cabinet decisions. Netanyahu claimed that their "disagreements and lack of mutual trust indirectly helped the enemy."

The bombshell announcement was met with a mixture of outrage from members of the opposition and elation from coalition members, many of whom have been openly critical of Gallants position on a variety of matters pertaining to the war.
It also sparked several days of protests, recalling the first time Netanyahu fired Gallant, in March 2023, over his opposition to the governments proposed judicial overhaul. Back then, amid massive outcry, the prime minister backtracked, and reversed the firing. This time, the demonstrations were far smaller in scale.

In a speech following his firing, Gallant said he was dismissed due to disagreements with Netanyahu about conscription of the ultra-Orthodox, hostage negotiations with the Hamas terror group, and a state commission of inquiry into the October 7 attack.

Yeah, the IDF is critically short on reserves, most of whom are now doing their 5th or 6th tour of duty. Many are not doing additional tours of duty due to injury or PTSD. Yet Netanyahu is trying to help the far right pass an amendment that prevents the Hassidic/Ultra orthodox from being conscripted. Currently, there are 65,000 ultra orthodox draft dodgers. Gallant also opposed seizure of the Philadelphi Corridor as a condition of a hostage deal and tried a lot harder than the rest of the coalition to make a ceasefire with Hamas in exchange for the Israeli hostages.

For the unfamiliar, here are a few ToI headlines regarding this asshole:

Gallant said to call demand for permanent Philadelphi Corridor occupation a disgrace, drawing fury from PM, ministers

This is a war: Katz urges Gaza-style temporary evacuation of Palestinians in West Bank

Katz is also the guy who more or less forced embassies in the West Bank of Euro countries that recognized Palestine's sovereignity to close after revoking the accreditation of their diplomats. Said embassies were also involved in a lot of aid work.
Now this guy is the defense minister.

Look up Phoenicianism. There's an ideology in Lebanon that the people aren't actually Arab. They're Phoenician. "Arab" is really a broad ethnicity though, considering how many subcultures are just labeled as Arab since they speak some form of Arabic.

Bibi now going full mask-off.

https://www.timesofisrael.com/mks-push-bill-to-create-new-intelligence-oversight-body-under-netanyahu/
The Ministerial Committee for Legislation is slated to discuss a bill establishing a new intelligence oversight body directly under the authority of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, despite an ongoing investigation into the alleged systematic theft of classified intelligence documents from IDF databases and the transfer of those files to people in the Prime Ministers Office.
The bill seeks to create a so-called devils advocate unit reporting directly to Netanyahu that will be given the authority to demand intelligence information from any intelligence body or any other state institution in Israel. This would include military intelligence, the Shin Bet, Mossad and National Security Council.
According to the bill, the new unit would be tasked with synthesizing and analyzing this information and providing the prime minister, defense minister and intelligence agencies with alternate takes on security challenges. It would also be required to report regularly to the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee
Asked why a new independent intelligence body should be established given the ongoing leak investigation, Halevi downplayed the scandal and insisted that the entire matter revolved around an officer [who] wanted to bring information to the prime minister.
And inside the IDF they didnt let him do it. So he tried to find channels and paths to the Prime Minister in order to give him this information. Its unbelievable. Its horrible. I mean, you need to make a decision. Youre responsible but we will not give you the information to make the right decisions, he claimed.

https://www.timesofisrael.com/reports-claim-netanyahus-office-collected-sensitive-videos-of-idf-officer-gallant/
Several reports on Thursday night claimed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahus office had separately collected sensitive security camera videos of both recently fired defense minister Yoav Gallant and an IDF officer who worked at the Prime Ministers Office, for unclear purposes.
Multiple outlets reported that IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi was informed several months ago that the PMO was in possession of sensitive footage of a senior military figure who had worked with the office. Halevi was told that the footage had been used in a questionable manner, the reports said.
Meanwhile, Ynet said embarrassing footage of Gallant was also collected, showing him in October 2023 having an altercation with a security guard at the Defense Ministry headquarters in Tel Aviv. It said the PMO had been holding onto the tape since the incident, amid the deteriorating relations between Gallant and Netanyahu, for unclear reasons. Ynet quoted a senior source as saying that at the start of the war, there were repeated attempts by Netanyahu and his associates to humiliate Gallant by not inviting him to security meetings or trying to sideline him in decision-making.

In the past week, police have opened two separate investigations tied to the PMO. The first deals with top-secret documents held by the IDF that were allegedly systematically stolen and leaked to officials in the premiers circle, who leaked at least one of them to the foreign press, possibly for political gain at the hostages' expense.
The second investigation into the PMO is being conducted by the polices Lahav 433 investigation unit, which probes serious crimes including public corruption, and is looking into criminal incidents from the start of the war in Gaza.
Most of the details of the case remain under a gag order, but reports in Hebrew media indicated that the probe is linked to allegations earlier in the year that transcripts of sensitive cabinet meetings and security briefings had been tampered with.
Earlier this year, Ynet reported that senior figures in the security establishment feared that efforts were being made to edit the minutes of wartime discussions held with Netanyahu, after discovering discrepancies between transcripts of the meetings and what the figures had heard in real-time.
Police have been probing the matter for around six months, following concerns brought to them by a former staffer in the Prime Ministers Office.
The PMO called both investigations a witch-hunt against the prime minister.

I disagree, he would have done this regardless who was president. He's being forced by things happening in Israel, not the American election. His aide just got busted for leaking fake intelligence to torpedo hostage negotiations, so now he's trying to save his own ass again. As for Democrats, they have a policy of not interfering with Israeli leadership regardless how bad they make the Americans look.

Holy shit!

https://www.timesofisrael.com/report-probe-into-doctored-pms-office-protocols-centers-on-signs-of-hamas-attack/

The IDF said earlier this year that several indicative signs accumulated in the hours before the Oct. 7 onslaught, which security chiefs missed, which included the activation of dozens of SIM cards, in the hours before the attack, that security services knew could be used by terrorists in a potential raid on Israeli communities. However, the cards had been activated in the past as part of Hamas exercises and maintenance, and so the matter was noted but did not immediately put the military on high alert.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has insisted that he was only told about the SIM cards after the attack had begun.
Citing officials familiar with the details, Ynet reported Monday that law enforcement is checking whether senior officials in the PMO attempted to alter protocols to create the impression that the premier was less informed on the matter of the SIM cards than he actually was.

The report says Col. Shin, an IDF officer at the PMO identified only by his initial, received an update hours before the attack about Hamas units in both northern and southern Gaza activating SIM cards. It says investigators suspect the colonel was later blackmailed by a top official who supposedly possessed a sensitive video of the officer to later change protocols related to the SIM cards.

Separately, according to Ynet, months after October 7, Avi Gil, who was Netanyahus military secretary at the time, was surprised to find during a review of transcripts and logs from that night that key details had been altered. When Gil questioned the clerk who had prepared the record about the incident, she explained that she had made the changes on the orders of a senior official in the bureau. She added that she couldnt refuse his instructions for fear of the consequences.

"Israel has missed US deadline to boost Gaza aid, UN agency says

In his letter on 13 October, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Israel needed to allow a minimum of 350 lorries a day into Gaza, every day, by 12 November.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (Ocha) says, over the past, month the average number of trucks getting into the strip is just over 40 trucks per day."

Pretty expected sadly. And of course America will not do anything, as usual.

https://www.timesofisrael.com/lawyer-says-soldier-suspected-of-intelligence-theft-was-told-netanyahu-knew/
A lawyer for one of several soldiers suspected of stealing army intelligence and conveying it to the Prime Ministers Office said Tuesday that Eli Feldstein, the main suspect in the case, told the soldier that he passed on the material to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who then asked for more.
Fettmans comments appeared to be at odds with Netanyahus statement in a closed forum last week, according to Hebrew media reports, that he had no prior knowledge of the scandal and that Eli Feldstein acted of his own accord.
Feldstein, a Netanyahu aide who had served in the IDFs Spokespersons Unit, is suspected of having worked with four intelligence soldiers to steal top-secret intelligence and leak it to the foreign press in a distorted manner that would dovetail with the premiers talking points against a hostage deal with Hamas.

Also:

https://www.timesofisrael.com/getting-rid-of-these-troublesome-officials-can-netanyahu-fire-ag-idf-chief-shin-bet-head/
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on November 4 vented his frustration with what he said was Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miaras adversarial relationship with the government, and asked Justice Minister Yariv Levin to find a solution for the problem.
At a cabinet meeting on Monday, the prime minister is said to have accused Baharav-Miara of causing a constitutional crisis by pushing for the dismissal of far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir for intervening in the functioning of the police in ways prohibited by the High Court of Justice.
Netanyahus comments reflect his and his governments deep resentment toward the attorney general, who has repeatedly opposed government decisions, actions, and legislation since the administration took office.

Accompanying the recent sacking of defense minister Yoav Gallant and the disciplining of coalition MKs for defying the governments desire to pass laws to entrench the exemption of ultra-Orthodox men from military service, the prime ministers critical comments regarding the attorney general indicate that further house-cleaning might be in the offing. That impression was reinforced in a report, denied by Netanyahu, that he was considering removing IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi and Shin Bet domestic security force head Ronen Bar from their posts.
Similarly, both Halevi and Bar have faced repeated attacks by cabinet ministers, while Netanyahu has accused the security establishment of failures relating to the Hamas October 7 invasion and atrocities without taking responsibility himself. Firing them does not seem to be a totally unrealistic step.

The article then goes on to describe the different ways that Netanyahu might do this. Yikes.
And in 2 months, Trump will start giving Bibi even more ideas (where do you think he got the idea to call any and all accusations against him a "witchhunt?")

According to ToI this part actually is true.
Regarding our funding of Israel's war machine: unfortunately, with the military industrial complex combined with the Citizens United ruling, I don't expect anything different. Really, the Citizens United SCOTUS ruling is the root of many of our problems.
BTW, expect the IDF to drop those 20 ton bombs that Biden has been withholding from Israel on Gazan cities (as well as Lebanon) once Trump is in power. I shudder at the thought of what those things will do to a metropolitan area.
Trump will likely remove the sanctions that Biden has placed on some of the illegal, violent West Bank settlers, too (though the sanctions didn't do much good since even American supporters found ways around it and fund-raised tens of thousands of dollars for them) Shame on Biden for chickening out on sanctioning Ben Gvir.

Reuters posted a list of demands on aid the US put on Israel as a requirement for continued arm shipments.

There's a list of 16, but the first already more than makes the point:

1. Enable a minimum of 350 trucks per day to enter Gaza through all four major crossings and open a new fifth crossing.
ISRAEL: Israel allowed a daily average of 76 trucks over the past 30 days. Israel said it was planning to reopen a fifth crossing, Kissufim.
UNITED NATIONS: An average of some 50 truckloads a day entered Gaza over the past month. From Oct. 1 to Nov. 10, three crossings were open and no new crossings opened. Kissufim appeared to have opened on Nov. 12.
AID GROUPS: Over 25 days, an average of 42 trucks per day entered Gaza. Three crossings regularly had trucks entering, a fourth averaged zero trucks a day and a fifth did not open.

https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/did-israel-meet-us-gaza-aid-requirements-israel-un-respond-2024-11-13/

Even if we're being generous and take Israel's word, that's still only 22% of the minimum.

This is apparently enough for the US to conclude that Israel is not impeding aid.

The United States' commitment to genocide is ironclad
sadly it clearly is.

Clip from a surgeon's testimony in UK parliament, describing Israel's use of quadcopter drones to target children

Heart breaking. Truly heart breaking.

Honestly, I will get heat for this, but as someone who doesn't live in America I am beyond tired of the people pretending that Biden/Harris did anything whatsoever to stop this or even gave a s***. Harris literally refused to have a Palestinian speak in the DNC. She said she wouldn't have done anything different than Biden. So anyone who thinks she gave a s*** is deluding themselves. Biden is literally hugging Israel's president right now and talking about his "Ironclad commitment" to Israel. I am tried of this crap.

Multiple western doctors have reported children with repeated head shot wounds. IDF snipers are systemically targeting children.

BTW I only said "western" because unfortunately most of this country consists of chauvinists who don't believe when Palestinians describe what Israel is doing to them.

The only meaningful difference between the Dems and the Reps on this matter (and many others for that matter) is their persona. One acts nice in public, one is openly shitty, but both do the exact same thing.

No. The difference is small but dems boost legislation for labor unions.

The only way labor unions can survive is when a majority vote of the workers binds all the workers to paying dues and being represented by. Republicans promise democratic unions where you have a right to work without paying dues and without following union guidelines.

IDF is treating people like video games. "Kill the healer first" and "kill the hatchlings before they grow strong".

Sadly in this videogames site, a lot of people are fine with it though they deny it publicly.

I posted in the wrong topic. But civil unrest is brewing in Israel. Reuters is the only site covering it that might be considered "neutral" but they had a weak article on it. Aljazeera and Times of Israel actually talks about what is going on though and they seem to cover the same news.

Ill look for the articles later, but are we talking people are sick of the crap and trying to stop it or people dont think theyre being harsh enough?

(I'm gonna guess a bit of both, with the former being more common but the latter being louder)

The Aljazeera articles are gone, not sure how that works but it looks like they hide articles as they write them (they are usually tiny anyways). But from what I saw it's a mix of people wanting action for hostages and some being upset about Gallant's firing. Times of Israel is covering the "unrest" in Israel if you need a source, Western media seems to be ignoring it completely other than mentioning Netanyahu's aide's leaks.

It's a lot more than that.
The Haredim either are or are bout to go a-rioting again because the IDF announced the intention to draft 6k of them. And yes, they DO have a history of rioting. They particularly like to throw rocks at law enforcement, but somehow don't get shot for it, unlike Palestinian children (Hell, even Israeli Arab children don't get shot for it that often, do they?)

The level of unrest is a fraction of what it would be since Bibi conveniently passed a wartime law (due to the invasion of Lebanon) which limits public gatherings to 2k people. (The Haredim are NOT going to obey this.)
Though in the past couple days the world has witnessed a major-ass escalation in that a trio of rioters shot flares at Bibi's state-funded (though it's not supposed to be) Caesarea home (yeah, among other things, he has the state repairing his bigass outdoor pool) Israelis are also unhappy that their country is still getting bombarded by Hezbollah rockets damn near every day. This was has absolutely devastated sensitive habitat, BTW, particularly in northern Israel (probably southern Lebanon as well) IIRC something like 70% of Israel's northern forests have burned down.

In addition there are countless minor issues, mostly linked to classism and institutionalized racism which contribute to a lesser degree. From the record gang violence in Arab sectors of Israel (thanks largely to Ben Gvir ignoring them) to a lack of bomb shelters in the north and for racial minorities (due to institutionalized racism, most everything built in Arab sectors is illegal. This is because a mixture of poverty and institutionalized racism makes getting a permit next to impossible for Arabs and Bendoin. Jewish Israelis living near the northern border also tend to get the shaft compared to those living in or near cities. Iron Dome missiles sometimes land or drop deadly shrapnel in the north and kill inhabitants (usually Bendouin or Druze, but sometimes Jews)
Due to the war time budget cuts, the social safety net is greatly reduced, while the far right coalition nonetheless allocates funding to aliyah (encouraging foreign Jews to move to Israel) yet they've drastically cut the housing and business assistance which is normally given to them.
The religious Zionists and ultra Orthodox are increasingly attempting to force their religion on everyone else (often on a local level) This includes forcing construction crews to observe the sabbath, which leads to dangerous incomplete constructions looming over highways on Saturdays and Sundays, where normally these are the best two days for construction due to decreased traffic.
Oh, while most do not disagree with it, the tariffs on Turkey kinda hurt the Israeli low and middle class as well, since Turkey was where they imported a lot of their food from for cheap.
And that's just the shit that I can think of.
