3

4 was cool but should have been it's own thing and made a lot of the stuff from the earlier games irrelevant.

2022 i thought it was a remake of the 1st but instead it was like a halfassed game. i beat it but definitely killed the series for me and i'd be hesitant to ever play another unless it was free on ps+ like this was.

i'm pretty sure i own the first one and possibly 2 but haven't played the first. the 2nd i helped my cousin beat but i only played like 5-10 missions of it.

I thought 2 was the perfect mix of serious and goofy so of course for 3 and everything after they went totally nonsensical.

2 was the best. But 3 was super fun and over the top ridiculous and I was able to play it co-op online with a friend and that was super awesome. After that even for Saints Row it just got stupidly ridiculous.

2 just nailed the right balance of serious yet a little crazy and was fun. 2 is undoubtedly the best.

I've only played 3 and 4 but I liked 3 a lot better. 4 was like playing an awesome superhero game but a poor saints row title. The death metal dubstep gun trivializes the whole game though.

Saints row 1 has really awesome multiplayer. (Protect da pimp is one of the most fun "protect the leader" type of multiplayer modes because of that damn slap, lol) while saints row 2 nailed the story and real fun side content. (Insurance fraud just doesn't hit like it did in saint's row 2).

Overall I would go with saints row 2 being the best, with saint's row 3 being right on it's heels with fun gameplay and great character creation (while saint's row 3 did had a more sillier twist to it's story and had some goofy guy's like the luchador villain dude I still think it had a nice balance between what saints row 1+2 was and what SR3 was doing. Saint's row 4 went way the hell too far into the silly what the fuck direction that I would have liked). Saint's row 1 had a really fun MP for it's time.

I can't stand saint's row 4+gat out of hell though so I don't care about putting them on a ranking list.

I want to say SR2 but it's near impossible to play on modern platforms and the game's 2009 piss filter is really annoying. The original SR holds up so well and for a game that's almost 20 years old it has some ridiculously impressive graphics and physics for the time.

It's also a major hot take but as shitty as the reboot was, it had a really well-designed setting. It's a shame everything else sucked.

I agree, I thought the reboot saint's row setting was fine for what it was. Character creation was still pretty good and the gameplay when it worked was still pretty fun and reminded me of saint's row 3's.

Game was just glitchy as all get out and had really terrible characters.

Like the gameplay was cool enough that my friend and I would have actually beat this game since we intended to go through the entire thing on co-op. Only reason we stopped is because his save file got fucked up by one of the many, many numerous glitches near launch and when those huge-ass patches that was attempting to fix a lot of that jank was releasing the specific issue my friend has (he couldn't progress in any main story missions since everything straight up disappeared for him) never got fixed on his playfile.

Never played the first, but have beaten all the other games several times apiece. I would rank them in release order, from best to worst, aside from putting GooH at the bottom. Even that I wouldn't call terrible though, the series ranges from excellent to average.

i voted 2, but there were good things about the reboot. the character creator was good, cars were relevant again and performed better than ever, the setting was excellent, but the bad parts were so bad that it became worse than the sum of its parts. the characters were very "how do you do fellow kids? those gosh darn student loans am i right?" and completely ridiculous, which bled into how the story panned out. the gameplay was also half-baked and generic, felt like a game from 2010 that was just trying third person combat with perks and skills for the first time

Completely agree with his. 2 got pretty wacky at times but it generally relegated the really weird stuff to the side missions. The stories occasionally got witty or crazy but never really silly. And when they got badass it felt badass. It had a more cool blockbuster tone than the over the top tone the later ones took. I still think 3 was pretty great but I never felt like they managed to land any of the badass moments quiet as well.

2 just had the right mix of everything. Best city, best character customization/clothing/accessories, best tone, best story, best missions and best characters.

It absolutely lacks some of the mechanical polish of the latter games, but the fact it does basically everything else better more than offsets its jank.

I picked IV because it was the perfect balance of fucking around, with some good gameplay.

I can fully understand the love for II, nothing against it, but given where the series went, I kind of liked how it became less serious whereas the GTA games became more self-important. You missed that pissbagtosspot car drop in GTA, you're screwed. Meanwhile SRIV said "hey frens, here's a different coloured dildo".

2 while good is still a GTA clone, 3 moved away from being a clone and did a lot to set itself away from GTA. 4 is over the top and I love it.

I tried playing the trash remake, not only was it buggy as fuck, the lines were cringy as fuck, the missions sucked and it felt like a cheap knock off a Saints Row game.

Volition should have never rebooted the series because not only did the game fail, the studio ended up closing. I'm not saying the game's failure caused the studio to close but it's not a coincidence.

Saints Row 2, no contest. Silly moments, serious moments, incredible customization, and a diverse city with small and big secrets to find and explore. It had everything and then some

Saints Row 3 was mechanically more polished, but the customization was downgraded, it was overall a much shorter game with a lot less content, some of the missions were just activities in disguise, and Steelport was a dull and unimaginative cut-and-paste environment with perfunctory pedestrians.

Saints Row 4... was not bad. The superpowers made cars redundant, and eventually, weapons as well. I've played through Saints Row 3 a few times and Saints Row 2 more times than I can recall, but I played through Saints Row 4 once and never played it again, not even to goof around aimlessly.

3 was my first, and I like it. But I loved the absolute craziness of 4.

2 honestly still felt like a GTA clone. 3 was when the series finally got it's own identity I feel.

2022 was just 2 but with a much worse plot and unlikable characters.

Never played the first since it was a 360 exclusive, but from what I have seen see my point about 2.

Unpopular opinion - the SR reboot wasn't actually a bad game in and of itself. Lots to do and plenty of references to the original games.

Selling it as a new installment, and shitting on the original fans, however, was a stupid move.

I'm not a marketing expert but all they had to do was say it was set 20 years after SR3 and that the protagonists were the kids of the OG Saints Row crew. They'd been moved elsewhere to attend private schools to shield them from the life their parents lived, but eventually their inner Gat came out. So, you're playing as a baby Saint.

Yeah thats what I am saying I would much rather play as that scenario's silver spoon in mouth kids snapping in their upscale towns/neighborhoods compared to the self-inserts beating the student loan thing to death with what we actually got.

Ha, I agree but have approached it from another angle. Like standing across a number 6 on the road, you say it's a 6, I say it's a 9, we're both right because we're looking from different viewpoints.

I don't know what's happened in video games recently but everything's either lazy development with the proper content locked behind a paywall, or games including shit we don't want.
