Assuming you are talking about a vasectomy and not tubal ligation then yes if you are done having kids. I would always opt for the safer vasectomy over my partner getting tubal ligation. By using the term snip Im fairly confident this is about vasectomy which would be a normal partner conversation at an OBGYN visit.

Assuming you and your wife are happy with the amount of kids y'all have (whether it be 0 or 4+), and y'all are in a healthy relationship -- go snip. It's much better for you to shoot blanks than for her to constantly medicated.

If you've got a foot out of the door relationship-wise and want to be a father with some other, yet-unknown future lady - don't snip

Edit: wait, circumcision? Screw that. Let him go intact. Yes, this means showing him to peel it back sometimes to clean it

I don't know how the hell I didn't realize that most would read this as a vasectomy.

Although, I do realistically need to ask about vasectomies as well. We definitely want another kid, but we want to wait so I need to see how reversible they are.

Might want to rerun the poll if you actually care about the results.

But you shouldn't. You shouldn't do it. If your son wants it done later then he can have it done.

I agree with you.

Maybe a hot take, but I don't think a woman, even the mother, should have any say in what happens to a baby boy's penis unless the father is 100% not in the picture.

You should assume it is irreversible. Vasectomy is considered a permanent procedure. Use another method in the interim until you are ready for another child.

This is correct, they can sometimes be reversed but you should consider it a permanent procedure and not rely on the idea of reversal. It's not like on TV where Michael Scott just got it done and reversed multiple times lol

No parent should force this particular thing on a child. But for medical issues, all active parents should be involved.

Preventing an unneccesary medical procedure which has no proven benefits while only inflicting pain is "patriarchal violation of bodily autonomy"? Can't say that's ever ocurred to me.

If female circumcision wasn't near-universally criticized in developed countries and didn't have even fewer benefits/inflict more pain, I'd say the same in reverse about a father not having a say in that being done to a daughter.

I don't believe a mother should make a decision about circumcising a baby boy just like I don't think male politicians should make decisions about a woman's reproductive health.
