It plays good but save often because crashes feel random. Apparently its a huge improvement from how it operated when on games for windows live though.

Hmm, might be worth replaying a bit. New Vegas ran pretty well when I replayed last year -- until you started the DLC, anyway -- so it sets my expectations a little higher than normal. Shame there's no trophy support, though.

As promised, even though I believe it's a badly-designed game in terms of, well, just about every category of critical analysis, there are still enough bright spots and fond memories to be had to give it a 'yes' vote.

Thr only Bethesda game that I've ever really liked. I've always been impressed at how every time I've played it, I've stumbled on quests that I never knew existed. It just repeatedly rewards exploration so well. New Vegas, Skyrim and Fo4 just fell flat for me because they got really boring at some point.

Unfortunately, I played 4 first, which made 3 harder for me to enjoy. It just feels so slow in comparison. The weapon durability system can sod off too, as it can in most games that feature one (and 4 thankfully saw fit not to include)

Fallout 4, much to my surprise, addressed a lot of issues I had with 3, and the things most people complain about 4 don't bother me; I can't very well lament the streamlining of dialogue / RPG elements in 4 when both those aspects were mostly shit in 3. I think a lot of people can't admit that they went into 4 expecting it to hold up to NV when they should've been comparing it directly to 3.

Fallout 3 is virtually redundant at this point; whatever Fallout itches I have that NV can't scratch, 4 does so quite nicely.

The most charitable thing I can say about Fallout 3's main quest is that it feels like a handful of programmers wrote a rough draft of a story one day to loosely tie together their picaresque wasteland shenanigans, and just went with it without any editing or oversight. Only at the eleventh hour did they start to notice the holes, resulting in poor attempts at quick fixes like Fawke's infamous 'not my destiny' excuse in the original ending.

I seem to remember Bethesda admitting at one point that it was written by programmers, not actual writers.

I never knew that but I'd believe it. The main quest in Bethesda games is just something you do when you stumble across it or run out of other things to do.

No.

I know my tastes well and knew I wasnt interested but I have a good friend where 99% of the time our tastes align on games and movies and he bugged me forever to play this so I gave it an honest shot. Played maybe 25 hours or so. Didnt like it at all.

I fucking LOVE their Elder Scrolls series but their Fallout series is a hard pass for me. At least this one was. I detest post apocalyptic settings unless its done where it feels like jungle prehistoric setting like Horizon Zero Dawn or something like Enslaved. Lots of greenery and color. Not like Fallout 3.

So yeah I thought it was terrible and stopped playing it.
