But if you're a responsible dog owner, you've got one half-eye on your dogs at all times, even if they're outside in a fenced area.

If I can hear them, you can hear them. Don't give me that "aw dang I didn't hear'em" garbage.

You're actual human garbage who deserves to have the dogs taken from you because you are not only being inconsiderate to your neighbors, but you're being inconsiderate to the dogs as well.

Some of the dogs round here are treated awfully, and Im not just talking about the ones that get eaten.

Some of them are just kept in cages barely big enough for them to move for their whole lives, and the only reason those people have them is to bark at anybody that comes near the house.

I'd be calling the SPCA and the police everyday if my neighbors did that. Hearing dogs bark all day is triggering my PTSD and the only remedy is going Rambo on them. In most places a dog barking during day time hours will not violate any ordinance or law.

You harming them or their dog is a criminal act nearly anywhere.

Having PTSD does not make you immune to criminal prosecution.

Youd love my neighbor. Hes got a great dane that he lets out every damn morning at 530 and when it barks it just echos.

I work 2nd shift so I usually don't get home until midnight and asleep by 3am. Iv got a white noise machine, ear plugs, and I moved rooms to be on the opposite side of the house from him

Cats are the superior pet. Always have been. Always will be.

My dog knows when he wants to go in or go out. Sometimes when he's outside there are rabbits or other dogs walking by. There's like 3 or 4 dogs on our block that leave their yards and take walks by themselves. I've gotten one of those sonic bark things, but he ignores it. So sorry, yeah he barks sometimes. If it's just for a few seconds I'm not coming out just to see a squirrel or rabbit or bird running from him. Though, I do look out the window to make sure its nothing dangerous. If it's a prolonged bark I go out and tell him to stop, if he doesn't he gets dragged inside and doesn't get to go back out until he settles down.

The only exception is when it's early in the morning or late at night. Then any barking means he has to come in.

You'd think it's common sense, yet a lot of the morons living in my area don't even keep them on leashes. Two random dogs attempted to chase me at one point, at night no less when you'd expect them to be indoors.

There are, unfortunately, people here who just let their dogs roam the streets while theyre at work during the day.

Not only is this one of the most unhinged things I've read here in a long while, but it's also rife with stupidity. Having PTSD does not somehow excuse you from breaking the law, of which killing a persons animal is. In other words, you would be held criminally responsible, as it is a criminal act regardless.

It's also absurd to think that killing someone's pet is a rational excuse; it is indicative of psychopathic behavior. You could plea insanity for your defense, but then you're just going to get thrown in a mental institution since you would be deemed unfit for general society, which is where you would belong in this case if something as ubiquitous as a dog barking is enough to set you off into a psychopathic murder spree.

You cant just go round killing peoples dogs. Its only justifiable if the dog poses an immediate physical threat, and as much as triggering PTSD is surely incredibly unpleasant, it isnt an immediate physical threat.

You know how hard it is to get anyone to address a situation like this?

I lived in an apartment that had a dog constantly barking it's head off at all hours of the day and into the night until 3am, nonstop. No one said a word about it. It was right next to my unit and it kept going for weeks. It was around Christmas so I figured the owners fucked off on vacation and left their dog on the third floor balcony. I went out, found where it was and tried bringing it up to management, but they didn't want to do anything about it. So I progressed to animal control. I told them the dog had been stuck on the balcony for weeks barking nonstop, and they asked if I could visually see if it had no food or water, and of course I couldn't see that high up. So they wouldn't do anything about it either.

It eventually stopped a week or two later. Don't know if it starved to death or if the owners decided to come back. All I know is no one gave a shit.
