I think as far as consoles go its going to feel like this going forward. The days of new consoles meaning a new lineup of games exclusive to that generation are mostly going to be done. Consoles have become more PC like in that it is the same general library of games, you can just play them on better hardware with possibly better settings/performance.

This was inevitable with how long most development takes now. PS6 will be the same way when its basically just a library of games people were playing on ps5. People view the ps5 poorly because its mostly cross generational ps4 games.

Personally I think there have been a lot of great games and dont get hung up on the fact most were playable on ps4 or that the vast majority were 3rd party. Im also a heavy console gamer that my entire life has been primarily a console gamer so as someone who doesnt game in or even own a pc I have actually really enjoyed my ps5.

Speaking candidly it wasn't a great generation. Besides the obvious issues with Covid, the lack of 1st party games hurt everyone but Nintendo. I get the desire for everyone to want every game to be on every system, but when games are on every system there's no longer an identity for said system.

I may be alone in this thinking, but honestly I would rather each of the big 3 have their own identity again with their own respective libraries.

First PS console I skipped. I dont think Ill bother buying a PS6 either. PS and Xbox are just shitty PCs with more expensive game prices and additional fees for online play.

Switch was the only good console of the generation.

If my PS4 didn't die, I would probably still be happily playing that until more than likely this year. But it died and my wife got me a PS5. It's fine enough, but I feel most of my enjoyment with it is playing games from PS4 but in a better performance.

There are a lot of games that really struggled on the PS4 and needed the PS5. Remastered or not, we ended up with how the game should have been from the start.

If the PS5 Pro wasn't so ridiculously overpriced and was actually tapped into properly, I would buy one.

i do like having a console still even tho i have a pretty nice PC for gaming. sometimes i like to just chill on the couch and play in front of the TV rather than sitting in a chair all hunched up in front of a computer. specially when my job mostly revolves around sitting in front of a computer... lol

PS5 JUST surpassed PS4 in monthly users for the first time, and they couldn't even release a PS5 Pro for less than 700. I can't imagine they are in any rush to start the next generation. I think this is going to be a much longer than normal generation.

MS has teased about it. They announced a multi year deal with AMD and mentioned the next gen.
