This in theory sounds like a good idea. My current gf showed me a post of me on the Facebook "are we dating the same guy" group Most girls said "nice guy, no red flags" but two used it as an opportunity to call me awkward. These two dates were ones that I also found awkward, I paid the dates and I ended in 30 minutes because I wasn't feeling them If it's to keep women safe, it's good but these can go wrong. mercurydude posted... A bitter ex could make up a lot of shit just to ruin a guy's life. This would only work if all posters were acting in good faith, which, of course, they won't all be. And in the world of dating, where people are nervous, uncomfortable, and trying to figure out if things work out or not, even someone acting in good faith could end up writing something about a previous date that screws over their date's reputation unfairly through no fault of their own. All it takes is for one woman to say that you were awkward and there goes your dating future? Maybe you were nervous cause you just endured a family tragedy. Or who knows what else? You literally never get a chance to make a first impression, and that's not a good thing. I already find it to be kind of questionable to do stuff like Googling a potential date before meeting them, and I could certainly see a case where something like this protects women (i.e. if a guy is abusive), but there's just so much opportunity for shit to go wrong. Gossip is already a big problem, groupthink is a big problem, making decisions based on unverified witness testimony is a big problem, and this app seems like it's combining all three. And, of course, what is there stopping a man from getting on there and spreading misinformation? --- Not changing this sig until the Knicks win the NBA Championship! Started 4/23/2010! ... Turbam posted... I get the idea, but yeah, needs workThe more I think about it, the more I realise the core problem here is that this sort of thing is almost always going to be a he said she said, outside of the worst offenders (where either solid evidence starts to show up, or they actually get police attention, or theres enough reports from different people that its very likely there really is something going on). At the same time, outright red flags are less common compared to a pattern of the kinds of yellow flags that cant really be proven to anyone who didnt see it for themself. It should be a no-brainer that creating secret databases on people who had either no knowledge or absolutely no way to opt out (and didn't opt IN in the first place) full of true or untrue details about their private personal/sexual life for MONEY is a bad thing, whatever the initial intention originally was.
