Every single one of these are just fucking cringe.

Maybe fruit baskets tohru ended up with kyo, but early yuki treat tohru like a potential love interest, but it's just because he is confused of his feelings towards her. He said the affection he has for her is more of a maternal one cos she reminded him of his mother. but that really doesn't count because there's barely any conflict about tohru, their rivalries aren't related to their feelings toward tohru, so yeah, love triangle = cringe

For some reason, this made me think of Toradora, which is more like a love polyhedron and one of my top three anime of all time in spite of (or maybe because of) it~

I don't know any specific examples off the top of my head, but I think a great way to instantly improve any love triangle would be to make it an actual *triangle*, where each person likes both of the others. Wrap it up with a poly end and *bam*, good love triangle~

Don't know about Xenogears but the protagonist of Xenoblade 2 eventually got together with all 3 girls that were into him which I say good, more stories should do this.

I think dating in the 50s was a bit looser, so it made more sense at the time. Nowadays, it makes Archie look awful for basically using Betty as a backup.

Generally no. As most are just tropes for generating manufactured drama rather than character or story.

That and The love interesting for a character is usually locked in from the start. Almost always whoever they met first.

Dating also isnt really a thing in most series, especially anime. So writers cant really test the waters with multiple partners either.
