So smalll correction here. The second voucher that has Cliffheart on it actually replaces the free Cliffheart new players used to get. I got this voucher instead of Cliffheart on day 7. Does that meaningfully change the evaluation?

Not really. The 4* Rope will do for most situations you need a puller for, and you can get the best puller Gladiia for free from an old event.

Chaos Zero Nightmare pre-download opens a bit over 8 hours from now, with the game launching 24 hours afterwards. Getting hyped :3

RIP. Annihilation got me enough pulls to hit the 6 on the newbie banner, and got the old Exusiai. So I'll grab Saria and Kal'tsit with my selectors. Before I shoot Specter up to E2, I also have Elysium and Lappland from random pulls. Either of them want E2 before Specter?

Anyway, now that I got the 6 from the newbie banner it's back to the limited banner until it produces Wis or the event is about to end and I reach for the card >.>

I'd still do Specter since E2ing Elysium would be mainly to do his masteries, and you shouldn't worry about those yet. Elysium is great though, all of the flagbearers are. The Vanguard meta for years was to use Myrtle and Elysium together with having Bagpipe on the team to ramp up your DP production to crazy levels. Nowadays agents are the meta since they can make a lot of DP too but also actually contribute to the fight unlike flagbearers.

Speaking of which, you should check how many distinction certificates you have(the gold ticket things). You can sell extra tokens of characters you have to get those and the green certs, there's a button in the shop to sell them, called token exchange at the bottom left of the screen in the Certificate tab. If you're any close to 180 distinctions, consider buying Ines from the shop, she's the best Vanguard in the game and she works well at E1.

Before I quite knew what I was doing with them I spent as many as I could on pulls. I probably should have saved them for Ines instead but I was worried about not getting Exu. Now I've 2 Exu and 3 Lemon. ~shrug~

Bah, only realized Brown Dust 2 Fiend Hunt goes past lvl 15 for the first time today
I was like "woo I finally cleared it" then realized it just keeps going, which makes sense for rankings. I guess 15 is the highest you get achievements for then

It's less and less of a problem now, but until the absolutely-required yearly limited costume rerun happens to get Bunny Celia (and also Bunny Loen/Eclipse for Wind/Light Fiend Hunts), it's not really possible to compete anyways
Kinda frustrating that critical costumes are on a yearly rotation screwing over any new players, but my gear probably isn't good enough to rank anyways so maybe it doesn't matter that much

Nikke is impossible to rank without being a longtime veteran and also whale so I really don't care to try in that one, I just do the minimum in challenge mode solo raid for rewards

9 hours and 20 minutes until CZN launches. I called in sick even though I end work almost an hour before then lol. Since I would still need to catch the bus home, eat and shower, it would probably delay me a little bit, and we cant have that now can we :3

I feel like there have been too many recent-ish gacha games that seem to have a filter making all the colors dimmer, which also makes the character designs not stick out strongly against the backgrounds (my #1 pet peeve on char design - makes them all look more generic than they should)

CZN feels a little generic to me because of that

I think for the most part the characters in CZN are pretty bright. Not all of them of course, but theyre doing pretty well for a post-apocalyptic world

Yeah but as soon as you pit those designs against the dull-colored backgrounds the problem becomes more noticeable tbh

I downloaded it, I'll give it a shot, but I'm concerned about the QoL comments given their other games like E7
I happen to be off this week and am mostly just playing Expedition 33 anyways

I dont think E7 QoL complaints can carry over though. Probably the biggest gripe in that game was the gear grind, and the fact that there were limited skips when it was so hard to optimize your stuff. Beneath that would be the really stale meta and the annoying RNG. Having a 15% chance to miss status effects even when you have a 100% chance to hit it sucked nards. And having up to a 10% discrepancy in speed can make a HUGE difference in the outcome of a PvP fight. IIRC it even changed the winner of a tournament once when a match had to be restarted lol

With CZN you actually want to manually play the game since its a roguelike. My biggest complaint was the promotion tests every 10 levels. I couldnt beat the level 20 one until I got Khalipe because shes broken as fuck. Which is one of the reasons that shes going to be one of my reroll targets. But I like her design and how she plays too; I would never use a character I didnt like just because theyre good. She reminds me of Botan :3

Ugh, that's what happened with Etheria Restart too. Granted pvp was more of my complaint, but not having a clear path to advancing in content (especially farming) without landing certain meta characters sucked the life out of the experience for me

Watching the release of Stella Sora also has me a bit cautious I guess
Lots of bait and switching on release day for that one, especially on gacha rates / monetization

Well part of that was because it was the beta so there was a limited time frame. But Khalipe certainly makes things easier lol

Anyways, gacha base rate is 1% for a 5S char within pulls 1-57 and then guaranteed within 70, but it's a 50/50 before being guaranteed within the next 70. Ouch... those are some bad rates, and you can get up to 7 copies of a unit before they're redundant copies

Limited packages with pulls in them, basically have to buy the raw gems after getting like 40 pulls from packages, with the usual terrible prices of in game currency
No starting free 10 pull, and no guarantee 5S within your first 10 pull, though there IS a beginner banner

Seems like it could be tough, but maybe better to play more casually I guess
I got Renoa in 20 pulls with the free currency + mail stuff on the beginner banner

Oh heck. Prydwen says Khalipe got majorly nerfed. I dont mind the nerfing, but I dont like how her kit looks now. It just doesnt seem as fun when you have to charge up her Vulture Launch :<

I got Rin on the beginner banner, and think Ill just stick with her instead of rerolling for both her and Khalipe. The latter will come around eventually.

It works fine for me. There's a very short maintenance today though, maybe the support system was bugged for some people?

I could clear out the cert shop tickets next month and hit 60 pulls but I'm still debating whether I need him since I'm not the sorta player that'll hit CC high risk and I'm feeling my roster's pretty OP now. Probably going to just start saving for Hoshi alter and the crossover collab next year (plus support functions means I don't really need my own Tragodia unless I'm playing IS anyway.)

I lied. I decided to reroll and after 6 tries, each consisting of 45+ pulls each, my only 5 star was Kayron. I be sad :((

I had a strong honeymoon phase from the beta though, and it carried over. It helped that I got Rin on the first reroll and finally got to try out the character I wanted since I saw her.

Story though I dunno, I always skip lol. IIRC you can rewatch scenes and stuff in case you mightve missed something

I like it a lot, but in all honesty I dont think it qualifies as insanely good. They really shouldve put skip function for the farming stages. But then again it took them 7 years to add that to Epic Seven lol.

I think its one of those games that you have to try out to see if youll like.

I DID IT. I finally got Rin from rerolling on the regular banner. Was it worth it? Who knows. But I still have a tremendous sense of accomplishment lol

Phew, 3 Star Clear on all the MT Stages, almost got Sankta Miskaparato at max Potential, and I've cleaned out all the Furniture so I've got a complete set of the firearms workshop. Gonna try and snipe the materials needed to E2 Exusiai, the pulls, and the cute outfit for Amiya before the event closes. I wasn't able to unlock Auto on all the stages. In particular MT-8 and MT-10, but I got 'em done which is better than I thought I'd be able to do.

In the next couple of days I'll probably do whatever it takes (swipe) to finish out the last 100 or so pulls needed to complete the Limited Banner. Almost certainly pick up Wis from it because damn she is insane in the few places I've gotten to use her. Really cool event by the way. Really enjoyed the story for it.

I'm sad to read that. I love the game.

Gameplay itself was fine (the action parts that is), but I didn't like a lot about the style. Having that 'post-apocalyptic color tint' (usually a gray-ish blue so that the world doesn't look too bright) annoys me, and I felt the characters largely sharing that pale color set didn't help. Designs generally look uninspired, especially compared to Brown Dust II or Nikke. Feels like if you asked an AI image generator to make something with only the tropes and colors as inputs it'd spit these out, whereas I'd be surprised if it could spit out Luvencia or Harran or any of those characters without inputting tons of details / using reference pics I guess.

IIRC, banner units are mostly not added to the general pool, making them very late-comer unfriendly. I play GFL2 and that's in the same boat, but I joined early enough to not be too impacted. I would definitely not join now or recommend it though because of this system thriving off of FOMO at the expense of later players.

Also, at the time I started playing it, that was like the 4th or 5th 'crystal' type post-apocalyptic world I'd seen in a short span. I'm honestly pretty sick of crystal-y worldscapes at this point

Looking at some more recent videos/screenshots, seems like they have more 'bright' colored areas (and less crystally), probably hard to have beach/water fun type events with that kind of dull overcast. That does make it more appealing, but I don't want to pick up anymore gacha that have been out for years.

Yeah, it was a real pain. But I'm happy with Rin, and all the boredom of holding down the fast forward button is a thing of the past.

I think it took 10 tries? At roughly 20-25 minutes per reroll, depending on if I was focusing on it or not to streamline the process. I cut down the time a little bit as I got more familiar with the tutorial and learned that certain parts don't require any interaction. Like there are multiple battles where some, or even all the turns are completely inconsequential, and so you can just end your turns without playing any cards. It shaved a few minutes off the runs.

If I did them all manually like that, I'd probably just listen to some audiobooks. I like getting Japanese listening time in with some LN-converted audiobooks while doing repetitive tasks, though if it requires your attention too much it can make it difficult

I actually fucking love that lol. Obviously I wouldn't want every game I play to be like that but having gacha games be like that is cool to me. I love it. Of course I don't want all my gacha to be like that. I play ones that aren't like that. It's nice to have variety.

You might not be informed but they constantly do reruns of units every patch and multiple times in and outside anniversaries they have done selector banners for any limited units and even selector items for those units including weapons. There's been multiple opportunities for this stuff so no matter when a player starts playing the game they will come across those opportunities.

Also I love how the banners have two types. There's the 50/50 banners that need like 80 pulls to reach hard pity. And there's the 100% banners that guarantees the featured unit at 100 pulls. Obviously the 100% banners are the way to go. Snowbreak is damn generous.

Yeah fair enough. The standard banner only features the base SSRs. At least with the limited banners you have the 100 pull featured unit guarantee.

It was hard to parse in the first couple of stages but once I had a feeling for who the characters were it started moving smoothly along. It did help that I knew some of the more major spoilers from Chapter 15 going in.

Compared to the early story chapters it's leaps and bounds ahead.

Early Story
Good Guys: "Why are we fighting, you're diseased, we're diseased, we can help each other."
Bad Guys: "lolno, you killed some of our guys when we tried to murder you for no reason earlier."

The Masses' Travels: mind-bending reality shifts that call into question the origin of a species, the purpose of faith, and both the theological and philosophical themes behind survival of the self and survival of the collective: While also finding time for some touching moments on the often painful intersection between family and duty.

Chaos Zero Nightmare is a huge disappointment. It was hyped up to be a horror gacha but the designs are so inconsistent and feel generic almost like they were AI generated. The story is very bland. I've been playing for 2 days now, and it is just not good. Nothing feels rewarding and I hate how progression is gated behind so many elements. I am going to keep playing for at least a week to see how it goes but so far this game ain't it.

Im still loving it. The gating is indeed annoying, but at least I always skip the story in games so that can never be a negative for me lol. Except in the case of HSR when they have their unskippable parts. That just sucks donkey balls. Even in CZN, a vast majority of it is either skippable or fast forward-able.

Reminds me of Horizon Walker in that regard, with complete abominations as enemies (probably more grotesque in that game than in CZN tbh)

Tressa feels redundant, not sure who to put in though, and gacha tend not to be friendly to trial and error builds due to resource gating

Having an AP generator is really helpful, and they buffed Mika from the beta making her good at that. And yeah, Tressa and Renoa kinda fight over the slot of character that makes their own special cards.

I also have enough Distinctions to pick up either Fiametta or Ifrit, but I think I'm just going to hold onto these. I may spend them on more headhunting permits for the Tragodia banner. I'm not going to spend any real money on that one so that's probably my best bet at getting the guy. Now to start the long grind of getting all these units powered up to the point that they can start exploding all the difficult content for me.

HBR 1st anniv and Angle Beast collab part 2 incoming. They've been giving away a ton of pulls in prep for the next wave. But I dunno if I'll go all that hard on the banners

I think it's Irie SS1, and the 2nd SS for both Kanade and Yuri. Kanade SS2 is the best Ice attacker, but I doubt she'd be stronger than my uber beefed Bride Mari.
