Vague details. I was at school. None of the other kids knew what was going on (some tried to claim that aliens were attacking D.C.). I'm sure it's a common story.

Would have been in 7th grade probably home room when it actually occurred. The news broke in English class.

I had social studies in the afternoon and him discussing it really hammered home something significant had happened. I didnt even know what the WTC was despite having been there in person during a trip to NYC as a child.

I randomly met a guy that worked on the 8th floor over a decade later.

Grandma's sister's apartment in Queens when I was 6. I remember looking at the TV of the news coverage, then looking out of the window to see smoke. This was around the time I was in a local PS school for a few days before we moved to a different town in Jersey.

A Tuesday morning at work (my Friday) testing water chemistry. Listening to Bob and Tom on the radio and they started talking about a plane hitting the tower. I thought it was some weird bit until they clarified.

Went downstairs and we had a room with a little tv and everyone at the plant piled in there and we were watching live when the 2nd plane hit. The moment the 2nd plane hit it just 100% confirmed it was no accident and on purpose and this old guy who I worked with said Bin Laden is behind this

Then we heard about the Pentagon and the one that went down in the field and it was like damn whats the next target?

Went home after work and watched news coverage for a few hours on it all. I was 25 and had been home from the military for 2 years. Seemed wild but I quickly went about my normal weekend stuff like grocery shopping and then enjoying my weekend and playing video games.

I was in Washington state so I was still in bed whwn it started. I had graduated high school that summer. So it was like 7 or 8 am or something and I was asleep. My mom came in my room and woke me up. She said something that might end up being historical, just happened in nyc. I can't remember if she explained in detail or just said "something happened "

But i got up and went upstairs. The TV was on and a building was on fire. I don't know for sure if I saw before or after the 2nd tower was hit

But my family all left the house later. My parents went to work and sibling to school. I spent the door alone in the house sitting online arguing with people on a message board (not here. It was on Everquest.com)

And with CNN on all day in the background

Mom woke me on her way to work 'You better wake up, the world's gone crazy'.
I only saw live the 2nd plane.

Drove to my gf's listening to Howard Stern, that was vivid.

Went to work 5pm & oddly that didn't yet seem weird.
It was all the global tv coverage airing late night that sunk it all in.

I was in math class, getting ready to take a test. Then an announcement came over the intercom telling the student body what happened. There was no school work that day, we just watched everything happen on tv.

I was in Ohio, and a lot of rumors were floating around that terrorists were mobilizing all over the country. I don't know how that started but it got to the point where parents were telling their kids to come home, so everyone who could drive just left and school was dismissed early.

school. specifically a lit class. teacher liked to run audio books and just sit at her desk and instant message people, part way through she cut the book off and turned on the tv to one of the news networks. got to see the second plane hit the tower live.

came out of that class almost directly into lunch, really early lunch that year, and told all my friends what happened. nobody believed me. then parents started pulling their kids out early, my mom picked me up some time before noon and we just went to a friends house and watched the news for a few hours.

I was in college. Sitting at a computer in the library playing Yahoo chess. Saw some random talk in the chat about something going on in New York, but didn't pay it much attention. A casual acquaintance came by and asked how I could be playing games at a time like this. I had no idea what she was talking about. She filled me in, I forfeited the game, went home and stayed glued to the TV for the rest of the day.

4th grade, teacher randomly interupted class to flip on the news (we had TVs in the corner of most rooms).

Adults freaking out, a lot of confusion. Kids not understanding what the big deal was.

Second plane hits on live TV.

Teachers try to explain what happened (still not fully understanding themselves). We went to music class, but we didn't actually have class ... just more TV and the teachers trying to explain stuff.

School day cut short.
My mom picks me and my sister up and takes us to small local hotdog stand/arcade place. I played Metal Slug and Outrun.

We get home, the event is on nearly every TV channel. I'm starting to realize this was a big a deal.

News confirms terrorist attack, my dad starts sobbing.

I was literally reminded of it just the other day.

One of my major memories of 9/11 was seeing smoke billowing out across the bay (because I live very close to NYC). I was driving around for work at the time, saw the smoke, had no idea what it was, and then started hearing the news reports via radio as everybody tried to figure out just what the hell was going on.

The other day I was out driving and I saw some black smoke rising across the bay (from Staten Island), and I just sort of had this moment where for a couple seconds I just suddenly had the skin-crawling memory of 9/11 come bubbling back up. Like for a moment I kind of remembered what it was like back then, and it was very unpleasant.

Middle school, 8th grade, west coast. I walked to the school bus stop and my friend was like "there was a plane that hit the world trade tower in new york" and then he showed me his digital watch and it said 9/11 and I didn't get the association at first.

My first class that hour iirc was this laid back art class and the teacher had the news on and they were showing it, I think they still didn't understand what was going on and after I saw the plane hit the second tower I realized it was probably an intentional thing.

When I got home my mom was crying that they were going to send my brother (who was Army National Guard at the time) to go to war. And actually he did get deployed to Iraq twice and is really fucked up from it.

After the 10th anniversary, its trauma memory seemed to lessen for me.

Though I do recall watching some reality/news/doc show thing in NYC, mid 2010's, & someone going with the 'host' down to Ground Zero. A stranger overheard & spoke about losing ppl he'd worked with in Tower 1.
The lexicon of that 9/11 morning, 'Tower 1', 'Tower 2', etc rushed it back on me for a strong instant. Out of nowhere, years past any other notable account.

I was in high school, 9th grade. In math class, algebra iirc. Someone came in and turned on the TV. Said that we needed to see it.
Class after that was Biology. The teacher taught as normal and pretended nothing was happening.
Class after was drafting. That teacher just abandoned his lecture and turned on the news.
At around that point, school was dismissed early. When I went outside, my parents were already waiting with the car. They knew school would be closed early even before I did.
Spent the rest of the day watching the news at home.
And... At some point I remember seeing the second plane hit.

I was in college NYC, a kid ran into our class and said a plane crashed into World Trade Center, we all thought he meant like a small plane had an accident. Professor continued with the lesson.

I left class still didn't know what had happened as I walked across campus to meet friends, walked into a room and saw a someone I knew crying on the floor because she found out her dad was in one of the towers.

No. I will never forget.
