So I haven't been to the doctor in over a decade.went to the doctor because I finally got insurance and I needed depression medication. Got a full work up and turns out I have type 2 diabetes. So now I have to watch what I eat and get healthy.... I'm 38 so I have time to fix it but still.... Luckily I have up sodas and cigarettes for new years resolution, so that works out. Haven't been one much for sugary stuff these past few years. In fact, my body kind of dislikes sugar, stuff like donuts is way to sugary for me, same with candy, I do crave candy sometimes but it's only for like a Reese's or something. Oreos like a month ago but I got tired of them quickly. Anyways, to end my rant. I have to take antidepressants and watch what I eat, wouldn't be surprised if on my next visit they give me more medications like a old man... *Sigh* I hate getting old lol --- Asus E-gaming z490 | 10700k | DDR4 32gb 3200mhz | Asus TUF 3080ti | 1000 watt | Corsair H100i 240 | G7 Odyssey 32" | Orion Spark | Proteus Core ... My mother had diabetes. Couldn't drink anything sugary and she had a couple of diabetic episodes that had serious consequences (like going hypoglycemic while driving and causing an accident). I deliberately try to diversify what I drink just so I'm not constantly pounding sodas but I won't deny it's deeply intertwined in what I consume. Fortunately, kicking sodas wasn't that hard. The cigarettes were harder. But having two resolutions made it possible for both, as I didn't have a soda cause that meant smoking again and if I had a cigarette that meant going back to sodas. So having both of them at the same time, they were able to hold each other up when I was waning on one. It was actually quite effective. Thermador446 posted... Yeah I feel you with the whole age thing. Our bodies must become less efficient and we have less room for error for unhealthy lifestyles. I have diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure in my family. I would look at this in a different way.. When I was diagnosed prediabetic years ago), as well as borderline high cholesterol and prehypertension, this motivated me to take care of my health. And so, I started eating healthier. Cutting out added sugar, watching the saturated fat and salt, I'm no longer prediabetic, and my cholesterol is better, and I'm working on my blood pressure still (just need to sleep better). It's good that you took your tests now vs later. Get tested every 6 months. It will motivate you. You can live normally if you exercise often, eat healthy and get good sleep..You got this! Anyone that is afraid and delaying off going to the dentist or getting blood work done, don't be. It's best to know your health now vs waiting until it's too late. A lot of this is reversible if caught early enough. No harm in finding out your results. --- Less is more. Everything you want, isn't everything you need. ... Copied to Clipboard!

I dont think Ill ever have one again. No, I did. I quit earlier this year. Just went cold turkey. It was my new years resolution. I combined it with not drinking sodas and they held each other up pretty affectively. If I was waning on one, I used the other as motivation to not break. But thank you for your advice. Oh and I forgot. Another thing I did for cigarettes is do something my grandpa did, well a variation of it. He kept a cigarette in his pocket to prevent the temptation and help him quit. I did something similar, my dad bought me a pack of cigarettes (even though I told him I was quitting, but I borrowed some of his cigarettes the last days of December cause I didn't want a new pack, guess he thought I was just bumming off of him and he got me the pack), I keep it in my car and haven't smoked it yet.
