I stood outside Gamestop for two hours in the pouring rain to get my pre-ordered copy of GTA San Andreas. This is a series I have loved longer than most gamers knew what it was, a series I have loved longer than most gamers were even alive. But right now I have no interest in GTA 6. Why... GTA 5. GTA 5 was fine, but I didn't like how they did the multiple protagonist, and I never wanted GTA to be all about ONLINE. And that is very clearly where the money is. Despite my lukewarm feelings about GTA 5 it was still the best selling game of all time. So my guess is the things I didn't like are the exact same things everyone else LOVED so GTA 6 is going to do way more of that stuff. I'm not saying I would never get it, but nothing I know about it makes me want it. Going off all the leaks so far I wouldn't be surprised if the writing sucks. We're getting a game in 2026 with a script largely finalized in 2022/2023 inspired by 2018-2020 pop culture. Two secondary characters are blatant ripoffs of Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion and their names/description on the official site scream "written by a white Gen Xer". I appreciate how they're making an effort to make the game less cynical and angry than GTA V but I can't shake the feeling it's just going to be some "how do you do fellow kids?" bullshit that comes off like bad Prime Video actionslop --- It is what it is, man. <cite>CRON posted [p:986467060] in GTA VI - i... I'm not normally a FPS snob by any means and I had zero issues playing RDR2 at that frame rate and it was amazing BUT GTA V on PS4 just looked poor when on the highway in a vehicle and travelling at high speeds. The game just really needs to be 60 fps. It is completely different than the slow placed nature of Red Dead. So if it wasn't 60 I will just wait a couple years and grab the inevitable PS6 version that should be improved. I'm an extremely patient gamer who often waits years on titles and we haven't had GTA since 2013 anyway so what it is a few more years? But if it is indeed 60 fps it is day 1 for me. GTA and Red Dead are two of my top 4 favorite series. I have zero hesitation about the team at Rockstar, the writing, any of it. IV did the multiple protagonist thing better with the DLCs where each character's story was woven throughout the others. I didn't dislike it in V, but it could be a bit much sometimes. IV had the peak writing, characters, setting, and overall atmosphere. I think it being less over the top helped it. I wish they'd go back to that at least in some fashion. Even the world building of all the criminals and gangs was pretty good even if most never even noticed it or looked at it. V was more of a spy/mercenary game than one about criminals. I'm getting VI day one. I'm an admitted Rockstar Games/GTA fanboy though since the very beginning. GTA games aren't some masterpiece works of all times or something. It's a great open world game with good graphics but gameplay, levels, and story and other stuff are standard stuff found and even done better in other games. I see people saying they'll pay $100 for the game and doing all these ID stuff that when other games do that they'll be all up on arms and complain.
