All those "Merica fuck yeah!" people are gonna find out in the coming years that we've only been as successful as we've been because of our relationships with other countries, Donald Trump burning those relationships beyond repair will destroy us, he ruined national trust within 9 fucking months, trusts that dated back decades gone in 9 months because this stupid ass population decided his hatred was far more appealing than Kamala Harris's intelligence and the whole country will suffer for it, Donald Trump won't, he's increased his networth by 10 billion dollars since becoming president again, has brokered a shitload of illegal and corrupt trade deals for his entire family and is securing billions of dollars in crypto currency and scams, he and his family are set for several lifetimes while the country will most likely be heading into economic depression and collaspe long before his term "officially" expires and by that time he'll be a dictator in all but name as Republicans have bought the voting systems, destroyed the mailing system for ballots and plan to have ICE and armed agencies at polling stations to scare away those who would dare vote against republicans. The farmers who helped put this together are not getting their bailout now, the government shutdown gave Trump the perfect excuse to keep neglecting them as those dumbasses will accept right wing lies that the Democrats caused their pain and finally, they will not last the year, by the time the bailout comes that money will be given to whatever corporation will own their land at that time, not them. --- A worthless existence ... The most important thing the administration can do is send a message to travelers around the world that the US is open to business to legal travelers.I always love when people (usually ones linked to the administration and/or kissing their ass) act like this is the problem - that people are just too scared to come across the border. I mean yeah, that's a factor, but it's far from the dominant one. Canadians aren't scared to come to the US; we're angry. When your spray-tanned blowhard of a president kicks off a trade war that has cost our countrymen jobs and freely talks about annexing us into the US, you can be damn fucking sure we're going to hit back in any way we can. Fuck him and fuck anyone who supported him. I am pleased as punch that this boycott has staying power and has been effective. I'm seeing the effects in my own industry. This year I was invited to speak at a conference in Texas, and usually about half the attendees are from Canada. Typically, this is a conference you apply to speak at, not one that invites people, and every time I've gone in the past I usually deal with some low-level functionary at the association to coordinate things. This year, a board member from the association was reaching out to try and drum up support and talk up how they would really, really love to have me and how they were offering special perks for presenters. I explained to them very firmly that I am not currently travelling to the US for any reason and would therefore not be attending the conference in any capacity. The board member asked if I would be willing to give a presentation online instead - I thought about it, but that would still result in additional revenue flowing to the US, so I declined. The board member was disappointed, but their response made it sound like this was an ongoing issue and I have since heard through the grapevine there's a decent possibility they'll have to cancel the conference altogether (for the first time basically since it started) because they can't find a way to not lose money if the vast majority of Canadians aren't coming. --- Kill 1 man: You are a murderer.
