I remember feeling pretty iffy about the opinion that Biden should drop out, I wasnt very confident that was the best idea. Whos to say if it was or not, or if thing wouldve been different if he hadnt started running in the first place. Well, in that case, there wouldve been an official nomination process, which wouldve given a better idea on the confidence levels people had in her. That bit really bugged me at the time, though I acknowledge that under the circumstances, there wasnt exactly much time for it.

I wasn't back around CE a year ago(wasn't here for almost the entirety of Biden's term), and I refuse to believe this was true.

If that's actually true, then CE(or whoever 'us' is signifying) is way stupider than I thought.

I was hopeful and she came out swinging. Then she made the same mistake of trying to win over republicans. If someone saw Trump and his first term and still wanted him back, theres no getting through to them. I thought she had it, but I admit I was in my own little bubble.

Still I place the majority of the blame on Biden refusing to step down and waiting until it was to late.

Trumps final speech was talking about Arnold Palmer's dick in the shower.

I thought that was enough to convince people he is a mistake, but I was wrong.

I knew he would win the moment he was shot.

I thought she had it when she started so strong, but after the DNC my confidence began to wane, especially in the few weeks before the election.

Clinton's loser staffers tanked her, as did Biden's staff.

At this point she was moving right and trying to get the mythical disaffected Republican voter and her polling was dropping, I was quite nervous but still thought odds were in her favour.

I thought Biden was doomed by the media feeding frenzy after the debate, but didn't see how making Harris the candidate could work.

Then the party executed on that candidate switch with unusual competence, and the first few weeks of her campaign went well with "we won't go back" and "weird".

After that her campaign crippled itself by relying too much on the advice of professional loser campaign consultants and the insufferable Champions of Gaza got going.

But given how widespread the nationwide shift to the right was in 2024, I suspect none of that made any difference.

When ask b4 Biden dropping out, i stated she was hillary 2.0 and she would have little chance of winning. I did soften on her when she came out strong, but then she fell silent and started doing the typical Democrat thing. I still blame Biden for going back on his word and running again.

I wasn't certain on either of them winning. Didnt know what to expect. Avoided the news all day until I got home from work. Turned it on and was shocked to see that it was pretty much a blow out.

It was likely he was going to win even before he was shot. But if you thought he was still gonna lose after he was shot, that's less "hopeium" and more "complete delusion"
It was way too late to be switching candidates. Didn't most people going to vote still think it was Biden who was the candidate? Or at least a significant portion.

Nah I was convinced Trump had it sealed after the "assassination attempt". I felt Kamala came out strong and had a possibility of winning but it felt all too similar too 2016 where everyone thought Hilary had it in the bag, and even back then I thought Trump still had a strong chance of winning. Unfortunately history repeated itself

Telling them "this is what you voted for" doesn't change a thing. They. Don't. Care. Liberals have to show up and show out in numbers to have a chance. I understand the demoralizing attitude liberals had in the last election, but complacency is not a luxury we can afford in the next few elections.

And the vote shaming needs to stop, because that will do nothing but continue to alienate. You've had your "I told you so" moment. Time to move on and continue with the unity that the protests yesterday showed we're capable of having.

No. To this day we have those who hold Democrats to a higher standard than Republicans. Making every excuse under the sun why they criticize Trump/Republicans less than Democrats.

Not understanding the optics of such such a sentiment being echoed..... then being baffled and confused why so many had vibes Trump was better.

Yes politicians and media are a problem, but so are too many eligible voters who want 0 accountability in their messaging or not voting, or going 3rd party.

Id argue thats due to Democrats are often held to a higher standard than Republicans.

During that debate, criticism came not only from Republicans but also from Democrats. Which is a recurring trend even among are supposed allies.

This makes it harder to hold Trump and Republicans accountable when Democrats are equally or more frequently harshly criticized. Propaganda often portrays Democrats as equally or even more problematic, leading many to vibes that Trump isnt as bad.

Our side also has a terrible habit of falsely assuming the average American is well informed about Republican wrongdoing. When in reality many are primarily exposed to media (even left-leaning voices)... criticizing Democrats, with far less coverage holding Trump and Republicans accountable. Those same people arent exposed to a bunch of prominent Republicans bashing Republicans or Trump. Optics like this matters.
