Exactly one year from the crucial 2026 midterm elections, President Donald Trump is predicting his own party will fare very poorly unless senators ditch the filibuster and ram through a host of partisan bills he claims would make the GOP nearly unbeatable in future contests.

In a morning Truth Social post authored as polls opened for gubernatorial elections in Virginia and New Jersey and a closely-watched mayoral election in his former home of New York City Trump wrote that Democrats are far more likely to win the Midterms, and the next Presidential Election unless senators vote to scrap the 60-vote threshold for most legislation in the upper chamber.

FOR THREE YEARS, NOTHING WILL BE PASSED, AND REPUBLICANS WILL BE BLAMED. Elections, including the Midterms, will be rightfully brutal, he added.

No they won't. Why would they need to? They can already get what they really want with a simple majority . Plus they don't have the votes.

Oh hey look everyone, the president is again stating out loud in no uncertain terms that his party will lose unless they override the system and just start ramming through policy that helps exclusively them.

Anyone want to do anything about that maybe or-oop we all went back to sleep, some people mumbling something about "her laugh". Oh well.

First off nothing was passed during Biden last 2 years and people still blamed the democrats. Second if the filibuster is broken then the country can see all the maga bad policies and a blue sweep will be even more likely with the midterms

Thing is if they start ramming garbage through, killing the filibuster can and should be pinned on them, as well as whatever legislation they pass on party line votes.

That's what should happen anyway. With our media, I don't have much faith in them being held to account.

Imagine after trump is gone and we have a socalist president. Trump got rid of the philibuster so the remaining republicans won't have it to stop new leftist policy.

People will blame republicans in-so-far as they will recognize them as the shit heads they are, vote in democrats... then immediately turn on them when they don't fix everything in a couple weeks and vote republicans back in.

That's what's always frustrated me especially about American voters in particular.

Vote in the GOP, the GOP thunder fucks everything. Voters get pissed and vote in Dems in strongly. Dems don't clean up the GOP mess well enough or fast enough, with the GOP sabotaging things as much a possible, and voters decide to vote the people who just caused the problems back in.

Yeah and what sucks is you can already see it being primed. With so much bullshit that needs to be cleaned up people are going to be so pissed when Donnie and his administration aren't immediately thrown in jail.

the GOPs gameplan for like the last 40 years has been to break shit, let dems retake some control and try to fix shit, and then scream about how broken the shit is that they broke when the last controlled everything and claim that the only solution is to vote them back in so they can get rid of it. the whole thing with social security/medicare/medicaid got started with reagan intentionally fucking up the funding decades ago so they could use it as a talking point forever more.
