And let's go back to the root of all this: Daniel Bryan.

Bryan and AJ were attracted to each other and were "more than friends" BEFORE Bryan cashed in MitB.

The entire premise behind Bryan's heel turn was that "The Title changes people."

What if it changed AJ too?

Just as Bryan grew so addicted to having that title belt, so too did AJ grow addicted to being with the Best Wrestler in the World.

And who's the Best Wrestler in the World now that Bryan has fallen? Punk!

Well the other answer would be Sheamus but it's more fun to hook up with Punk to spite Bryan.

(This is gonna get a little confusing so just know that I'm speaking entirely in kayfabe here)

But I also don't think it's entirely an ACT, per se. It's method acting on her part.

In order to be BELIEVABLY crazy you kind of have to GIVE IN to the crazy, if you follow me.

It's not like she's sitting there plotting "how can I give the impression to Josh Mathews that I'm crazy?" It's more along the lines of "I want everyone to think I'm crazy so I will just turn my brain over to those impulses for now."

The quick explanation is Punk calls her crazy and claims he "digs crazy chicks", all of a sudden AJ begins acting MORE eccentric and playing into Punk's expectations, which is NOT her being crazy but rather using Punks and Bryan's perceptions of her against him, with Kane playing the extremely confused 5th wheel.

This is PRECISELY how I read it.

She IS, in Lopen's terms, "trying too hard" because she's infatuated with Punk and A.) Punk said he likes it, B.) Kane is manipulated by it (which helps Punk), and C.) Keeping it going at all times throws people off the scent.

Yeah except Natalya isn't Sheamus even compared to Divas... going off sizes for divas past and present I would make a men scale of something like...

AJ : Rey Mysterio
Natalya : Dolph Ziggler
Beth Phoenix : Sheamus
Kharma : Great Khali

Or something like that.

Also Daniel Bryan isn't quite big enough to come off as particularly menacing either so that comparison doesn't entirely help even if you are trying to sell off Natalya as Sheamus sized.

Like don't get me wrong I'm not saying AJ shouldn't come off as a threat to win matches. I'm saying she shouldn't come off as a threat to seriously injure people through psychotic beatdowns/escapades, which is kinda necessary for the crazy gimmick to work, even if they don't beat people down.

If Rey Mysterio went over the edge into madness I could totally buy him tearing Dolph apart if Dolph wasn't prepared.

After Raw went off the air, Big Show slapped John Laurinaitis's chest twice then left. Then, Cena called Ryder out, who came out and grabbed Johnny and stopped him from leaving, brought him to the ring, and gave Johnny a Broski kick. The crowd was hot for Ryder, even though he wrestled on Superstars earlier.

Finally, Hunter came out, mentioned Johnny's chest was red, but his back was white, and Cena chopped his back twice, then Hunter gave him the Pedigree. The faces left afterwards. Finally, Johnny got to his feet and was at the top of the ramp when Vince came out, made like he was going to help him, and then gave him a low blow. That was where it ended for the live crowd.

Man I wonder what Hogan would have done in the case of Roode retaining via DQ.

Remember, the LOSER OF THE MATCH was supposed to enter the BFG Series, and BFG Series participants can't have title matches until the series is over.

Had Roode thought this out a little more he could have potentially loopholed his way into auto-retaining until October!

Sure he could have easily thumbed his nose at Hogan and went straight for a steel chair to retain via DQ, but he hung tough and made Anderson tap clean. And now Anderson's presumably out of his hair.

But not often enough. And most of the time they wait until the match is several minutes in before they do it. Why not kick them in the nuts straight away?

Depending on the heel this can still work. If you know you can at least last 5 minutes with the guy why not feel things out first? Maybe he's having an off night or you can pick apart an injury for a legitimate win, and get him out of your hair for good instead of having to deal with him again in a Lumberjack/Streetfight/SteelCage/Bra&Panties match

I admit that heels use words and phrases that IMPLY that they chose the rematch clause date, but I think it could be easily handwaved as the authority figure choosing the PPV as the best opportunity in most cases to maximize good business and the heel then cackling along like he masterminded the whole thing to give an aura of control.

I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility to say that Cody got approval for his NWO rematch before revealing it on TV, either. Like he's backstage with Ace and says "OK, I have a rematch and I'm going to use it at No Way Out. Is that OK?" and Ace is like "sure". PPV Paychecks also exist in kayfabe so it actually makes sense for all 3 parties (competitors/auth figure) to wait until then, from a moneymaking perspective, right?

That's kinda what I was getting at. In most cases it makes sense to wait for the PPV anyway so of course the heel is gonna ACT like it was all his idea because they're heels and their egos are massive.

If you're going to do this there's a laundry list of things you can say. "Why do heels not just take DQs to retain all the time" "Why do heels not just take face family members hostage to win I Quit matches", etc etc.

Well, they actually DO those things fairly often. Typically speaking, a heel takes a DQ finish to retain, and then the next match is booked with some sort of no-DQ stip to prevent it from happening again.

To be completely fair here, WWE has (almost) always held firm to that too (barring some BLATANT examples like the Corre immediately "cashing in" their rematch clause against Cena and Miz).

Rematch clauses are not MitB briefcase. You contractually must receive one if you choose to exercise it, but you do not get to mandate when it happens.

WWE has the convenient rule explaining that there's a 30 day statute of limitations on rematch clauses (which was actually referenced last night!). TNA to my knowledge has said no such firm thing.

I'm not at all against the Tag Division getting time. This is really one of the smaller nitpicks about the PPV, but it's still backwards.

Have that match ON RAW, and then have the TITLE defense on PPV. OMG MAGIC.

Yes I know Truth is out but you gotta get the belts off them somehow. If it's PTP vs. Kofi in a handicap or Kofi/Ryder or whoever it still works out perfectly.

The big news in this timeframe was Steve Austin getting upset with the writers and, in the words of WWE, "taking his ball and going home." We won't see Austin again until February, and until then he's definitely persona non grata. One step below Benoit-ed!

Billy and Chuck got their Tag Titles back from Rikishi and Rico. Billy is now a 10-time Tag Champ!

RVD finally got the title back from Eddie in a fantastic ladder match on Raw.

Hardcore starts on Steven Richards and goes:
Steven Richards -> Tommy Dreamer -> Raven -> Steven Richards -> Tommy Dreamer -> Raven -> Steven Richards -> Terri Runnels -> Steven Richards -> Tommy Dreamer -> Raven -> Steven Richards -> Bradshaw -> Raven -> Spike Dudley -> Shawn Stasiak -> Bradshaw

Raven now a 21-time Hardcore Champion. Suck it, Crash!
The house shows with the Richards-Dreamer-Raven-Richards cycles must have been really fun for old ECW fans.
