That reminds me. What is the retention rate on EC matches now (as in how often has the title holder retained)? I know it used to be awful.

There have now been 11 Chambers with a defending Champion, and the Champ has retained in 5 of them.

Closing in on 50%!

Also, Daniel Bryan has joined Bobby Lashley as the only undefeated Chamber entrants.

I'm starting to feel like WWE does better PPVs than TNA but TNA has the better main weekly show.

I feel the opposite. IMO TNA's PPVs have been better in 2012, but for the weekly shows you have a 33% chance for each show (Raw/Impact/SmackDown) to win the week (with the leftover 1% chance going to NXT/Superstars).

Whether or not you liked the SD Chamber depends entirely on whether you can suspend disbelief enough to believe in Santino.

I can totally buy that the Observer guys are jaded beyond that point and are only looking at the match from an objective "how good was the action" standpoint, and yes, from that P.O.V. the Raw Chamber was better.

Funnily enough Bryan Alvarez did not give the ambulance match minus five stars.

He pretty went, it was fine, the story's godawful but an ok match that had some goofy moments. so his reaction was pretty much just whatever don't really care.

I kind of agree. There was nothing critically abhorrent about the Ambulance Match, it was just that there was absolutely no reason for the stipulation, the spots were lame, and this did not feel at all like the blowoff to such an emotional (by intention even if not so much in reality) feud.

It just felt like two guys who didn't particularly have strong feelings either way about each other having a rather dull but inoffensive Ambulance Match.

I don't want him to squash people, but since he had immense trouble with Santino ( a very low carder) how is he supposed to believably last more than 5 minutes against Sheamus, who probably has not been pinned or submitted for 8 months or so now?

That's kinda the point. They're selling the match on the classic Honky Tonk Man premise of "Man I can't wait to see Sheamus get his hands on that little weasel and FINALLY get that damn title off of him! He can't escape THE GREAT WHITE!"

Swagger went on after as a cooldown match/bathroom break after the SD Chamber. That happens a lot, and it's to give the crowd a respite between two big matches that they're supposed to be really into and emotional over. I even remarked in the chat how I could feel my body's adrenaline dump during Swagger vs. Gabriel, and how it was smart to put something else there as a buffer.

Cena went on last because his storyline has been the main event storyline on Raw for months now. They've been telling us that John Cena's exploits are more important than any title since the start of this year, so this logically follows from that. Putting Cena on last night wasn't the issue, the larger picture of people being bigger than titles is.

This is the Road to Wreslemania though, this entire show and how good it was should only be based on what it does for 6 weeks from now.

That is such an utterly flawed concept. The biggest issue facing PPVs today is that they're booked as angle advancement instead of big match blowoffs.

If you REALLY want a positive, I am now much more interested in Cody defending against Santino at WM than I would be in Cody defending against anyone else, even Goldust.

Guys MWC is right the SD Chamber should have ended with heel vs. heel as opposed to the only two guys who got any sort of reaction from the crowd.

I have a hard time ranking either match because both were pretty much half a great match and half really bad.

IMO, something that starts slow and picks up steam for a fantastic climax is inherently better than something that starts hot and then totally falls off the rails.

That crowd was HOT for Santino. That match was really well booked, aside from the (admittedly crappy) fact that they had about 5 minutes of material to kill the 15 minutes of time before Khali entered.

A Scramble match is totally different! <___<

Technically though, Punk did still have a chance to retain his title by rule. If the time limit expired without a single pinfall or submission occurring, Punk would have retained despite not even being in the match.

That's impossible in the Chamber.

beat
carlito and chris masters (how did i remember this match happening)
the corre

now he'll probably lose to shaq

he can only win when kane helps!

Feels like Benoit had a fair few title shots before winning the big one.

Who's had the most before actually capturing the belt?

Let's figure it out!

I'm gonna go through the Champs of the PPV era (Andre-present, Hogan was the last pre-PPV Champion) and count their unsuccessful title shots pre-winning
Andre: 1
Savage: 0
Warrior: 0
Slaughter: 0
Undertaker: 0
Flair: 0
Bret: 0
Yokozuna: 0
Backlund: 0
Diesel: 1
Michaels: 3
Sid: 3
Austin: 2
Kane: 0
Rock: 0
Foley: 6
Triple H: 1
Vince: 0
Big Show: 1
Angle: 1
Jericho: 1
Lesnar: 0
Goldberg: 1
Eddie: 0
Benoit: 4
JBL: 1
Orton: 1
Cena: 1
Batista: 1
Edge: 1
Mysterio: 0
RVD: 3
Booker: 2
Khali: 2
Punk: 0
Hardy: 4
Sheamus: 0
Swagger: 0
Miz: 0
Ziggler: 1
Christian: 1
Del Rio: 3
Henry: 1
Bryan: 0

So Mick Foley is the winner there, with failed attempts as Mankind against HBK and Undertaker, 2 failed attempts against Austin as Dude Love, and then finally another 2 failures as Mankind against Rock.

Benoit and Jeff Hardy are in the second tier.

*List does not include European PPVs but I don't believe doing so would change the outcome.

He faced Orton 1-on-1 at both Bragging Rights and Survivor Series.

He actually won the Bragging Rights title match by DQ thanks to Cena interference trying to loophole his way through Wade's demands ("You only said to make sure you won the match so I beat you up for the DQ win!")

Jakyl Fun Fact
Elimination Chamber will mark Wade Barrett's 5th World Title match on PPV. He is thus far 0-4. Should he fail, this will nudge him one mark closer to the all-time record for most WWE PPV World Title matches without a single win, 7, which is held by The British Bulldog. UK wrestlers are chokers!

Also of note, assuming there are no "surprise entrants" or anything, tomorrow night will mark the first PPV World Title opportunities for both Cody Rhodes and Santino Marella, the second ever for Kofi Kingston, and surprisingly only the third PPV World title shots ever for The Miz, R-Truth, and Dolph Ziggler.

These Chamber matches feature a lot of fresh meat!

Also, all 4 of them just happened to be of the same alignment again so I guess why not re-unite?
