In fact, now that I think about it, it might have been interesting to take the angle of "Big Show eggs on DB to cash in MitB just to get the case out of the way before he gets his title shot."

Not even "Show just wants to fight an easier Champion," just "Show is confident he can beat Henry OR Bryan and just wants to clear out that potential issue"

Right, I'm just saying there was a full PPV cycle there where they were both presented as just having different POVs on the subject, which gives it a little more substance.

Then Punk chose to make it personal with the drug stuff

It's pretty much the exact same thing as Show/DB isn't it?

Pretty much except for with Punk/Jeff they at least TRIED to portray both sides as having legitimate gripes.

With Show/DB they did that for like one show and then immediately kinda dropped the "DB was only exercising his right" angle in favor of "DB's just a jerk"

Oddly enough, Cena (when Edge cashed in on him) has a legitimate beef though.

He won his WWE Championship on SmackDown, and that particular MitB was only good on a Raw World Title. Cena then got drafted to Raw and then months later dethroned by the cash-in.

IMO he has a reasonable case of "I did not choose to seek a Championship reign under these pretenses"

But I don't think he has that right since if you choose to wrestle for a World Title with an active MitB case out there, and you get toppled by it, that's your own damn negligence.

Jeff even CHOSE the ladder match stipulation that ended up weakening him in victory to the point of cash-in.

I honestly can't recall the last wrestling feud that was presented as face-face (or at least, presented as "both sides have a legitimate argument") where *I* felt one person was so completely and obviously in the right.

I don't remember anyone here complaining about Cena not delivering an AA at WM. But plenty of people here, including me, are upset at Rock now.

Right, but Meltzer was referring to WRESTLERS being upset that Rock got the upper hand when Cena was gonna be the one carrying the touring.

Meltzer blamed it on The Miz, MMA, and booking.

The UFC PPV that weekend was Dan Henderson vs. Shogun Rua. Not exactly a world beater from a buyrate standpoint.

Now don't get me wrong, it was the fight of the year, and that show kicked all sorts of ass, but it's not exactly something I would run in fear from if I was WWE.

It only barely outdrew Survivor Series too, 290K buys vs. 281K.

If bottom-tier UFC PPVs (from a marketing standpoint) still pose a significant leeching threat to THE FIRST ROCK MATCH IN 7 YEARS, then that doesn't speak very highly for Rock.

I'm not doubting your love of wrestling at all, Jakyl, don't get me wrong. I'm just denying you have the look or talent to be a Hollywood actor. And if you did, your perception of things might be skewed a little.

That's why in both cases I said "in some capacity." I wasn't implying that I would be an actor or a wrestler. I actually have no desire to be either. I'm probably one of the few wrestling fans who has NEVER at any point in his life had an inkling of desire to be a wrestler.

But if I actually thought I had a chance to get my foot in the door of the industry by going that route, then sign me up for training.

As I said, it's very easy to say "I'll never leave wrestling because I love it" when you don't have the star quality or the skillset to do better, and that's what Foley is for example.

I can say definitively right now that if I was offered a choice between $40K a year to be involved in the wrestling industry at some level versus $20 Million Dollars to be involved in Hollywood at some level, I wouldn't even have to think twice before shaking Vince or Dixie's hand.

And even if it's a complete and utter work (and it PROBABLY is), Cena has convinced (or tricked) me into believing that he is the same.

And that's what I love about Jericho. He has other dreams. He has other ambitions in life. He doesn't NEED wrestling anymore, but he still comes back, because he loves it.

Rock can do all the movies he wants, and I don't begrudge him taking the opportunity to set himself and his family up for life, it's just the complete and utter 7-year cold shoulder towards the entire industry that bothers me. I was willing to give him a second chance to regain my fandom after his return last year, but in the interim he's lost it again.

Heck, I would have settled for a Via Satellite promo every 4 weeks or so but we can't even get that.

I just feel like, if money wasn't an issue and everything was equal and you got to choose what to do with your life based on what you most loved, Rock wouldn't have ever been involved with the wrestling industry, and Cena would.

There's just no incentive for The Rock to come back on a regular basis.

He can make a lot more money in a lot safer environment with a much better work schedule staying in movies.

And it's the fact that he needs "incentive" that saddens me.

It's his life, so whatever, but it's depressing to me that he doesn't LOVE to be around wrestling as much in his heart as much as, say, Foley.

WM 27 did 1,059,000 buys.

Does WM 28 break 1,250,000?

If you believe that "limited PPV dollars" affects buys, it should be noted that last night's UFC PPV was the last one until a few weeks past WM. They're on a pretty rare 8-week PPV gap thanks to a planned late March event falling through due to arena conflicts.

That definitely breaks in WWE's favor, because WM26's buyrate was, in the opinion of many, crippled by being on the same weekend as a UFC PPV featuring their 2nd biggest draw.

Has Evan Bourne been officially released yet? Cause if not then he's a given.

They can't legally release him during the suspension unless he refuses to go to rehab (if they've asked him to), like Carlito did.

When he comes back they still can't REALLY release him for drug use until he fails a 3rd test, again as long as he's complying with any requests they make to seek help. They can make up some BS other reason though I guess. But the whole point of a 3-strike system is that you're not actually FIRED until strike 3.
