So, am I missing something, or did Sting just book himself in a match 2 PPVs from now against the current World Champion?

Either he's admitting he has some advanced knowledge of Roode losing to Storm, or he's booking himself in a completely undeserved title shot. Either way, that's pretty bad leadership!

You're missing something.

STORM'S TITLE SHOT is 2 PPVs from now.

Roode vs. Sting is non-title and is the main event of the next PPV.

So on a completely different topic; is anything happening with Chris Masters? Has his 6 months passed? I keep hoping to see/hear that he is wrestling somewhere.

6 months? The no-compete clause is only 90 days!

He did the Ring Ka King tapings, and he's also in Wrestling Retribution Project season 1.

http://www.wrestlingretributionproject.com/

I honestly have high hopes for thing when it ever gets released. Could be a REALLY fresh take on the entire genre, or it could be a massive flop.

Found it:

Michael Elgin was saying something about not knowing The Rock's twitter address, to which Steen replied:

Kevin Steen @KILLSTEENKILL
@ROHMichaelElgin You don't know The Rock's handle....take a f***ing guess!

which was then followed by:

Dwayne Johnson @TheRock
@KILLSTEENKILL @ROHMichaelElgin Im sure its @TheRock. But who knows with him these days #BigKayfaber (be safe on the road bro)

Kevin Steen @KILLSTEENKILL

Also "Jim Cornette is gutting ROH to turn it into OVW"

http://wrestlechat.net/exclusive-multiple-roh-talents-believe-jim-cornette-is-hurting-the-product/

Colt Cabana sure has a hard time getting booked anywhere, that much is true.

This is why the Steen angle is so important, if played properly.

The WGTT/Briscoes angle is a microcosm of the fanbase's attitude shift towards ROH at large--they can tolerate outsiders so long as they benefit the core product, but once they start dominating the core product, they can get the hell out.

They've used WGTT perfectly since their debut in late 2010: a 6-month title chase, a 10-month title run, and now a heel turn just as the backlash began to take hold. They've milked WGTT dry on pure drawing power, and now their roles are to be hated for being outsiders and to put ROH regulars and up-and-comers over. The only issue may be longevity--I'm not sure there's any role for WGTT left after, say, Final Battle 2012. But that's a road we can cross when we get there.

With both the overexposure of the Wolves angle, and with the influx of OVW talent at the expense of beloved ROH regulars, there's a similar backlash brewing. That's where Kevin Steen comes in. He's the "out." He's the guy the company can latch onto as the fan's avatar, to "save ROH from itself."

The whole situation is nebulous enough that it's unclear what exactly the dynamic will really be once they do finally get to the inevitable Richards vs. Steen match. It could be Davey as overbearing heel vs. Steen as loose cannon face, it could be them in the roles they're currently playing, or it could even be a Punk vs. Cena situation where Davey is the "face" of the company and that's exactly why the fans hate him, making him the heel for the match.

Long story short...yes these are problems, but I'm actually fairly certain that ROH understands those problems and has the escape route planned out and ready to go.

Since we're throwing shills out there, anyone in Southeastern Michigan who wants to check out a high-quality local indie should definitely give CLASH Wrestling a try. They're affiliated with CHIKARA, they're basically the graduate program for Truth Martini's training academy, and they regularly get guys like Jimmy Jacobs, Petey Williams, Colt Cabana, Zach Gowen, X-Pac, Rhino, Kevin Thorn, and Shark Boy.

Big emphasis on gimmicks, storylines, and tag teams, but the main events always deliver.

WWE's earnings conference call was hosted by George Barrios and Vince McMahon this morning.
Vince then took the and said that they had a "less than stellar fourth quarter" and thus a less than stellar year. He said 95% of the problems came from the film division and from TV licensing, with the latter due in part to decisions they made to hold back product distribution in the US, i.e. NXT and Superstars. He reiterated that if they couldn't make their new approach for the film division work it would be gone, but he thinks their strategy will work.

And yes, what happened to ANX after Ladder Wars? Seriously I have no idea.

They lost their title match they won in Ladder War on a non-televised card that was never even mentioned on television.

Then Rhett Titus got injured so they booked the Young Bucks to "cause" the injury at Final Battle in that Tag Team Gauntlet.

Titus is due back soon though.

They do still have a title shot coming to them that they won via Proving Ground so after the Briscoes get through this current wave of challengers (Bucks at 10th Anniversary, WGTT at Showdown in the Sun, Jigsaw/Hallowicked at Synergy) they can resume the ANX feud.

Sold. It's, what, Tuesday nights?

NXT comes out on WWE.com at some nebulous time on Wednesday evening (4 PM is the claim but that's never accurate).

Sometimes the Raw Rebound stuff is obnoxious but if you just let the YouTube video pre-load you can skip right around it.

Personally I almost always wait a day or two until they put it up on YouTube and watch it in 720p, because WWE.com's video player is absolute trash from a video/audio quality standpoint.

It's kinda funny in comparison to WWE how long-term ROH has been booked under Delirious. To a fault, actually--sometimes they forget to actually fill the present with good stuff too!

Meanwhile major WWE plans change the DAY OF the show ALL THE TIME if you listen to the ex-writers.

TNA's on some weird middle ground where they know the destination but forget to plan out how to get there. It's been obvious that Roode vs. Storm was gonna be the Lockdown main event since November, and sure enough that's what ended up happening, but they didn't really go about it as if they were building to it. It's been more like "Well we can't do that match until then so let's just kill time and find ways to dance around the issue" jogging in place.

Since they're building new stars it kinda works because it helps establish them, but it's still not EXPERTLY WRITTEN or anything. It's just "solid."

Well basically since the Sinclair purchase, the TV show has been setting up the dominoes that are just now beginning to fall.

The dissolution of the Wolves
Kevin Steen's re-instatement
The Briscoes/WGTT double turn

Those are the three biggest angles in the company and they all took a few months to establish. Then at Final Battle all those things came to a head and now the upcoming iPPVs and major shows are really the first true tastes of the fallout.

Speaking of ROH, I think they're about to get out of their doldrums pretty soon.

This weekend's episode of the TV show features the Richards vs. Lethal World Title match they taped, then the following week is the 10th Anniversary Show, then they have a 4-week build to the WM Weekend double-shot, and then from there a 4-week build to the CHIKARA/ROH Synergy double-header. And by then they should have the next iPPV lined up for June.

I can see the path for the momentum to build again!

It's so sad that TNA can't get me to care about their product even though they have some of my all time favorites putting on great matches like that.

Just out of curiosity, what exactly would it TAKE to get you to care about their product?

I addition to great workers putting on great matches, they've built new main-event stars, de-emphasized the WWE castoffs except when they can be used to put TNA homegrown talent over, and they've even fired Russo. Yeah, the Garrett Bischoff angle is awful, but at least it's all the awful concentrated into one storyline.

The only thing I can think of why people still wouldn't give it a chance is presentation. I completely agree that they need to get the hell out of the Impact Zone on a much more regular basis (and really, PPVs should never be there except Slammiversary) because it makes their product look second-rate. But other than that, if you can stomach the Impact Zone's obnoxious crowd, you should check it out on a more regular basis.

And this is directed at anyone, not just ExTha. <_<

I know some people only have limited time in their schedules for pro wrestling, and I guess I understand that, but I still feel if that's the case it would be much more rewarding to follow TNA + ROH than just WWE right now, and it would take roughly equal time.

Also of note in the timeframe between Armageddon and the Royal Rumble, ECW held its final PPV on January 7th, Guilty As Charged 2001.

# Cyrus and Jerry Lynn defeated Christian York and Joey Matthews (2:41)

* Cyrus pinned Matthews after Lynn hit Matthews with a Cradle Piledriver.
* Before the match, Da Baldies attacked Christian York and Joey Matthews.

# Danny Doring and Amish Roadkill defeated Hot Commodity (Julio Dinero and EZ Money) (with Chris Hamrick, and Elektra) to retain the ECW World Tag Team Championship (10:06)

* Doring pinned Dinero after a buggy bang.

# Nova defeated Chris Hamrick (with Elektra) (5:30)

* Nova pinned Hamrick after a Kryptonite Krunch.
* Chris Chetti was the referee.

# Tommy Dreamer defeated C.W. Anderson in a "I Quit" match (14:11)

* Anderson quit after Dreamer wrapped cords from a table around Anderson's eyes.

# The Unholy Alliance (Yoshihiro Tajiri and Mikey Whipwreck) (with Sinister Minister) defeated Kid Kash and Super Crazy and The F.B.I. (Little Guido and Tony Mamaluke) (with Sal E. Graziano) in a Three-Way Dance (13:31)

* Mamaluke pinned Kash after a Big Splash from Graziano.
* Whipwreck and Tajiri pinned Guido with a Double Tiger Suplex to become number one contenders to the ECW World Tag Team Championship (13:31)

# Simon Diamond and Swinger (with Dawn Marie, The Blue Boy, and Jasmin St. Claire) fought Balls Mahoney and Chilly Willy to a no-contest (0:48)

* The match ended after Rhino came out and attacked all four wrestlers.

# The Sandman defeated Steve Corino (with Jack Victory) (c) and Justin Credible (with Francine) in a Three-Way Tables, Ladders, Chairs and Canes match to win the ECW World Heavyweight Championship (13:20)

* Sandman grabbed the title to win the match.

# Rhino defeated The Sandman to win the ECW World Heavyweight Championship (1:00)

* Rhino pinned Sandman after a Piledriver through a broken table.

# Rob Van Dam defeated Jerry Lynn (with Cyrus) (24:30)

* Van Dam pinned Lynn after a Van Terminator with Joel Gertner holding the steel chair.

This was their final televised show, as ECW on TNN had been canceled back in October, and their syndicated show ECW Hardcore TV aired its final episode at the end of December.

They would then go on to have two final house shows the following weekend, and then they folded and were later purchased by the WWF.

With that win over Billy Gunn, Chris Benoit became only the 6th 3-time IC Champion in history, joining Razor, Jarrett, HBK, Goldust, and Y2J.

Of larger note, Edge & Christian just became only the second 4-time World Tag Champs in WWF history, joining the New Age Outlaws!

Before the Rumble, E&C would lose their titles to the makeshift team of The Rock and The Undertaker on Raw, only to regain them later that week on SmackDown, making them 5-time World Tag Champs, again only the second team to reach that mark.

Steve Blackman finally lost his Hardcore Title to Raven on the Raw following Armageddon.

WWF Champion: Kurt Angle
Tag Team: Edge & Christian
Intercontinental: Chris Benoit
European: William Regal
Hardcore: Raven
Light Heavyweight: Dean Malenko
Women's: Ivory

Oh I didn't mean from a genetics standpoint, I meant more along the lines of "got to work with and train with this amazing talent for years and years."

McGillicutty was still in his teens when Curt died.

That's well before my time.

JR often cites Jack Brisco as one of the best wrestlers of all-time, so I would assume Gerald Brisco picked up on some of that.
