About the only thing I thought was meh and hope gets improved in the sequel is the side missions. Arkham City set a standard for superhero open world games for me, I loved how each side mission felt like its own story, revolved around a new villain, and had unique objectives. Spider-Man is just...oh save the random civilian who's birdwatching.

There's a couple sidequest lines that I enjoyed a lot in Spider-Man because of that reason, so I hope they do more of that.

To me, I wouldn't mind going digital if they just fucking compressed their damn game sizes. It's insane to me that a 1TB harddrive can only hold like 7 games these days.

I'm one who doesn't mind the breakable weapons thing because it's in service of the other "survival" mechanics the game employs, but I also feel like it really shouldn't be the new gameplay standard of Zelda since I prefer building up a permanent selection of abilities, items, and weapons.

This basically wins it. It was literally created as a "beginner's first RPG" and they went...STUPID crazy with that idea. No exploration, set fights, no grinding, and I'm pretty sure you're given very few battle options.

What is stopping Nintendo from releasing a console that competes with the others so people don't have to make that choice?

They have evidence to back up their decision on sticking with underpowered hardware. Ever since the SNES their hardware sales have been dwindling when they were focusing on competing with rival hardware, but Gamecube was actually one of their lowest selling consoles. So they refocused efforts with innovation on an overclocked Gamecube (Wii) and it was highly successful, so they're sticking with that plan.

They're afraid to go back to making more powerful hardware because it might cause them to lose out on sales again.

The game leans heavily on the effects of slavery and how people treat slaves as sub-human. Imagine if the game had dark-skinned people that happened to be part of the slave trade? I'm sure the actual reason was they didn't want major backlash. Even when it's treated as an abhorrent thing that should be changed in-game, people will still be stupid and claim the game is racist if it had diversity in the midst.

Talking about the hooded man? I was thinking the same thing too, the face and hair color are fairly similar.

You all seem to agree that this movie was fantastic. But if Lord-Miller was constantly needing to overrule the directors to end up with that movie why are you defending them?

It's purely because of overworking the team. Lord-Miller can ask for rewrites and changes but animators should have better working conditions as a result, instead of being underpaid with 11-hour+ workdays.

As well as SkillUp and Xbox fanboys. Some of the review bombers have rated 10s on exclusive Xbox titles and nothing else.

I don't think it is (GOAT is an extremely lofty title for me) but it is really damn good so far.

There is like three different stats, because most of the stats are derivatives of other ones. It is a pretty common illusion in some games to make them look more complex than they are. And they all have a miniscule effect on gameplay. All of the equipment is just straight up upgrades.

It isn't an RPG at all. Pretty much every spectacle action game has more build customization. There is nothing wrong with it not being an RPG except for the gaslighting people about it being one or not.

Strangers of Paradise absolutely has more customization, deeper itemization, and just more RPG mechanics in general in spite of having action combat. Its also an inferior game with worse story. But there is nothing wrong with saying that it is more of an RPG. RPG is just a genre, it isn't inherently good or bad and saying something isn't an RPG isn't an insult.

I don't really get the denial over this. Not everyone has some special grudge over the game. Its a game that advertised itself as one thing, but is actually a very different thing. People will be disappointed in that fact no matter how good it is.

To me it's less denial and more not knowing what people mean when they say it doesn't have RPG mechanics.

I dunno. When I first saw the gameplay I thought it looked like it might be boring, but it's like 10 years later and I've spent hundreds of hours on the franchise.

It's probably lack of build customization is my guess. Because there's tons of equipment and like 8 different stats.

Apparently there has been a bunch of rewriting and restarting so nothing is moving forward. You know how unrealistic the people in charge are.

Ugh. If the movie doesn't get delayed then I think part 3 may be the only bad one of the trilogy.

I've heard that not much progress has been made on it even now which is baffling that they want to release it early next year.

I read she was 13 in BotW so she can't be that much older in TotK. Makes sense for her to be short.

Yeah I'm kinda curious about the whole revenge thing. With how the marketing has gone it's gonna lead many to believe "wait, aren't you Ifrit, Clive?" If it's actually gonna be treated as a twist that he is Ifrit and he killed his own brother, then that's gonna be kinda lame, lol. They already gave it away as a major thing in promotional materials.

Then again I could've sworn I saw a brief clip in promotional material that showed two Ifrits fighting.

I am! My only gripe is that most of it is linear action stages and very little open exploration. I'm only like 4/5 hours in though so maybe areas will open up later. Very pretty though and the gameplay + story is very engaging so far.

This could be a template. Because before, Elden Ring was supposed to be their magnum opus, lol.

That's unfortunate. Seems like a case of putting too much in the plot for the sake of having exciting action.

Depends what it's about. I've got Iron Lung on my mind.

Admittedly it's an RPG so they like to have lengthy prologues to set everything up. The devs reassured that the gameplay will get much more of a focus after the prologue but that there will still be long stretches of cutscenes here and there.

One of the key reasons for the striking unions is trying to prevent an AI takeover of Hollywood.

The actors and directors guild both threw their weight behind the writers.

If the unions prevail, then this will very likely be the first... and also the last time ai is used in a major production.

I've heard rumor going around that apparently the script for Spider-Man 4 is "going well"...in a time where the writer's strike is happening. That's concerning.

The directors apparently said they used AI because of its shapeshifting qualities and alien-like look to it to mimic the Skrull, but apparently they are unaware of how it works (stealing other people's art).

I think the ones who think he's directly taken from Final Fantasy haven't played Final Fantasy, lol. Like sure, he's meant to be a reference, and the music (I think) is a remix of an FF battle theme, but he's an original character.

I'm sort of curious if the plottwist was planned from the start, or if the producer/director at the time said "hey guys, let's fuck with player's mind!" at the last second.

Some are kinda speculating it was planned, because apparently certain characters in 1 and 2 felt "off" and somehow knew things they weren't supposed to.

People tend to lose interest in plots if the big twist saved toward the end is that the world is in any way fictional, even though by their very nature they are fictional to us.

This is basically what people wanted the NSMB games to be. Each having fun, unique artstyles with big gameplay features to differentiate them. Each one basically just being the same game with different levels is why people got tired of the series, lol.

This looks like fun.

I can't imagine severely docking points off of an otherwise great game just because it doesn't have racial diversity, but whatever.

Bad is a strong word. It's more like....average. Like I said the party is great from what I'm seeing. A great cast. Just the story behind the world isn't the strong point. The action is

Oh. That's a bit better I suppose, a large part of what made the story interesting for me was the characters and what they go through, so if that remains strong I should be happy.

That and of course the gameplay.

Nah, a remaster is touching up the existing graphics. A remake is if you remake the entire game, graphics and all, which is what this game is gonna be.
