The way the textures are stored play a lot into it. Textures and audio usually take up most of a game's filesize, and sometimes animation data.

There might be quite a bit of unused space due to either lack of or shitty atlasing. The positive thing about that is its something that can be fixed later.

A lot of Unreal games launch with bloated filesizes and actually get smaller with patches.

That as well. Unreal 5, in all reality, is a bloated mess of an engine. It's the defacto standard because it does a lot of the box and designers love it because of visual scripting.

Optimizing for storage is now considered a waste of time in the industry.

There are a few reasons why this is.

• Storage is dirt cheap.
• Physical media is no longer a priority.
• High speed internet.

I actually found out about it on GFAQs and watched the intro. Immediately, I decided my younger sister had to play it (the kind of thing felt laser targeted at her tastes) and (mostly) blind bought it as a bday gift.

Turned out I was right and it became another RPG she replays every year. The music is bitchin.

If one was given to me I'd try it for the novelty.

Fallout 4 having the name list was a cool novelty, but not a reasonable solution for every game. It also wasn't even implemented that well to begin, some common names were ignored for memes and swears. And yeah, it's funny that I can be "Mr Fucker" but my name was absent when Reader Rabbit didn't have issues with it in the 90's.

... I would rather devs just write the style of dialogue they want. Not having a default name doesn't really bother me.

In reality, the solution is going to be "AI" ... and that fucking sucks. I'd sincerely rather games never address a player's name with voice acting again than have AI voice acting be the norm. I feel strong enough about that I don't care that I just directly contradicted myself.

I view myself as a 90's kid because I actually remember '96 and later pretty vividly with some fondness.

I suppose a larger chunk that mattered belonged to the 2000's, but I didn't really appreciate it back then and I was nostalgic for the 90's as early as 2003. :/

Firefox version is 143 ... which is shockingly recent, so I guess I still get updates for it.

Mildly surprising because a good number of apps won't work with my phone for one reason or another.

Mods do nothing about harassment, there is a user on the UK board who'd follow me into topics, begging for attention, I mention it to Moderators only to be told to Block the user, but surely if the User is hounding you constantly then there comes a point where the user should be dealt with, because if you don't Block the User and then reply to them in a certain way then it's you who gets punished.

Honestly, I'm siding with the mods on that one. If you didn't feel like blocking or ignoring the poster in question then thats on you. They have as much right to post here as you do.

Additionally, I find the prospect of "following someone around" on this website to be pretty silly. GameFAQs is actually pretty tiny if you want to discount the dead boards. If you frequent a board, you are going to run into the same people, there is no way around that.

A game that heavily borrows from the game design of Demon's/Dark Souls.

It can (and probably should) be more unique than that ... but that's basically the definition.

Same with a RogueLike being a game that is kinda like Rogue.

The reason for why not both is because nobody else apart from you seems to be having this issue.
theres a chance its not your device and could be something to do with your router/wireless access point, but its still an issue localised to you. If it was an ISP issue it would affect your Ethernet as well

My theory is that it's a bug in the old version of Android I'm stuck with. For some reason it only affects WiFi protocols and something in this sites coding triggers it.

Probably just need a new phone lol.

The game board trolls are some of the saddest people on this site.

Sometimes their shticks are amusing, don't get me wrong. But there's a difference between a "running joke" and just being needlessly obnoxious.

If it's moderately close to the original you should have a good time with it. Game is a classic.

Sounds like its your device. Sites wouldnt have issues specific to Wi-Fi.

Leaning heavily on "why not both?". GameFAQs is the only website or app with this issue and it also only occurs over Wi-Fi.

I'm stuck with an out-of-date phone using an out-of-date FireFox and an out-of-date uBlock.

I set up a pi-hole which helped immensely with loading Fandom's ad-bloated wikis, but had zero affect on the FAQs. I don't really see ads on here anyway, but, yeah.

I remember discovering the concept around early 2010-2011 and becoming enamored with it. It was like creepypasta, but actually real (usually).

Less of them exist simply because they're not as profitable anymore, and working around the YTs automated content monitoring can a be a lot of effort depending on the subject.

YT was way more liberal with the content they allowed 5-10 years ago.

It was effectively a playable 80s/90s "dad" movie, it only seems serious for the first couple hours.

IDK, I am going to go with "it was for kids". Most kids I knew loved it. And the radio play aspect was way more novel for a video game at the time.

IIRC, Kojima straight up said that in an old interview. The age rating doesn't have much to do with the actual target audience, the rating is just an ass-covering mechanism.

Mortal Kombat was for kids.
Half-Life was designed for 12-year old boys.
A lot of older Teen games were actually for kids.

Same applies to movies or music. There has historically been R-rated films directed at kids and even x-rated films for older teens.

This is after using the site on mobile for well over a decade over multiple networks and ISPs all across the country. GameFAQs just hates WiFi.

If I post a message over WIFi, it can take several minutes for it to process and post. If I post over mobile data, it's always instantaneous.

As multiple posters already pointed out, modern computers arn't really region locked. As long as you have correct software installed you can use pretty much any keyboard you want.

I think xbox will turn into something similar to steam deck. Just a cheaper gaming focused pc gaming platform. They will stop competing with Playstation.

I actually think they might not get into the hybrid game if PlayStation doesn't jump in first, primarily because Nintendo and MS are on significantly more friendly terms than a lot of people realize.
