Melinda French Gates said Monday she would resign as co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation that she has helped lead since 2000.

As part of her separation agreement from former husband Bill Gates, French Gates said she will receive an additional $12.5 billion for her charitable work. French Gates said she plans to focus her giving on groups that focus on women and families.

This is not a decision I came to lightly, she said in a statement posted on X. I am immensely proud of the foundation that Bill and I built together and of the extraordinary work it is doing to address inequities around the world.

French Gates said she plans to leave the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation on June 7, and she will share more about her future charitable plans in the near future.

I am sorry to see Melinda leave, but I am sure she will have a huge impact in her future philanthropic work, wrote Bill Gates in a separate statement Monday, also posted on X.

Looking ahead, I remain fully committed to the Foundations work across all our strategies, and to realizing the opportunities we have to continue improving the lives of millions around the world, he wrote.

French Gates exit had been telegraphed for several years. Bill Gates and French Gates announced their divorce in May 2021. They said at the time they would allow themselves a kind of trial period through 2023 to determine if they could continue working with one another to oversee their massive charitable foundation.

The foundations CEO announced in July 2021 a contingency plan to ensure the continuity of the foundations work.

If after two years either decides they cannot continue to work together as co-chairs, French Gates will resign her position as co-chair and trustee, CEO Mark Suzman said.

Bill Gates will remain in control and, essentially, buy French Gates out of the foundation, Suzman said at the time. French Gates would receive personal resources from Gates for her own philanthropic work resources that would be completely separate from the foundations endowment.

Actress Olivia Munn continues to share her journey since being diagnosed with breast cancer last year.

In a new interview with Vogue, published Sunday, the Newsroom actress revealed that she recently had a hysterectomy.

I took out my uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries, she said.

Munn said that the procedure, which took place last month, was an alternative to taking a cancer treatment medication that was causing her to experience next-level, debilitating exhaustion. She said it was a big decision to make, but it was the best decision for me because I needed to be present for my family.

The hysterectomy would improve her quality of life, but it also meant that shed no longer be able to carry any future children. Munn and comedian John Mulaney welcomed their son, Malcom, in 2021.

John and I talked about it a lot and we dont feel like were done growing our family, she said.
Munn, who had previously frozen her eggs twice in the past, said she underwent another round of egg retrieval before moving ahead with the hysterectomy, in hopes of making an embryo to use for surrogacy. When her doctor later informed the couple that they had two healthy embryos, she and Mulaney just started crying.

It was just so exciting because not only did we get it in one retrieval, but it also meant that I didnt have to keep putting myself at risk, she said.

Munn first revealed that she was diagnosed with a form of breast cancer known as Luminal B cancer in March. The cancer was found in both of her breasts, and Munns treatment included a double mastectomy.

This journey has made me realize how grateful I am to have options for not only fighting cancer, she said, but also having more children if we want.

I basically stopped console gaming during the 7th gen. Not entirely, I owned a 360 and a wii, but I didn't play them much, and my interest in gaming was kind of at a low point. Aside from the 3ds, I haven't owned any consoles after the 360/wii.

I got a Litter Robot 3 about a month ago for a two cat household. Only one cat will use it and the one that doesn't will piss in the corner if we take away all of the traditional boxes.

If your cat uses it, it's pretty great. Very easy to operate and upkeep. It will also do weird shit like send me alerts to make sure that I know it's being used

The first of the new projects from Sir Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens is tentatively titled Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, Warner Bros. Discovery announced Thursday. It will be directed by and LOTR alum Andy Serkis. Walsh and Boyens have been tapped to write the screenplay, along with Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou.

Yesssss, Precious, Serkis, who has voiced the LOTR character Gollum, said in a statement. The time has come once more to venture into the unknown with my dear friends, the extraordinary and incomparable guardians of Middle Earth Peter, Fran and Philippa.

The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King were nominated for multiple awards including Oscars, Golden Globes and BAFTAs.
Serkis served as 2nd Unit director on Jacksons The Hobbit trilogy and directed the 2021 film Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

With the Republicans going full mask-off in their corruption and disdain for democracy, and with how many states are under GQP control courtesy of how much they've already rigged the game, I think Trump is going to steal the election even more brazenly than Bush did in 2000. And Biden and the Democrats either can't or won't do anything to stop it.
