I took a blood test a couple days ago, and according to the results, I have a high level of creatinine, which is a type of waste stored in the kidneys that a proper diet will help flush out. My dad says I should cut down on eating meat and cheese as much as possible, which is kinda a large part of my diet. It'll be difficult, but doable since I live across the street from a grocery store. The biggest obstacle will be my busted brain, which is resistant to changes in routine.

If I keep down this road, I'll have to have these IV drip bags attached to my kidneys, which is what happened to my mom in the last few months of her life. I'd really rather not go through that.

I really wish my parents had stopped at one kid. My mom's body only cooked up one batch of primo genetics for my brother, then it had to scramble in the reject pile when I showed up.

The 1990 TMNT movie came back to theaters, so my brother took me to see it. Even though I was never a fan of TMNT since I preferred comedy cartoons, I really enjoyed it. It was just oozing with late 80s cheesiness! Why do the Turtles have a fully functioning payphone in their lair? Who cares! Why are the Foot Clan headquarters a giant indoor skate park and arcade that any kid would froth at the mouth over? Who cares! How are these disenfranchised teenagers so good at quietly swiping loot? Uh, ninja training!

It's really impressive how they did those fight scenes while wearing those Turtle costumes. Also impressive is how well-written the Turtles were. You could really feel their brotherly bond.

It was really surprising to hear them say "damn" so many times. Even in the more lax standards of the time, you'd never expect a character from a popular kid's series to say anything worse than "crud". Imagine if Steve in the Minecraft movie said "shit". The backlash would be nuclear!

Holy crap, Dave's Dredge crossover DLC is really worth getting (especially since it's free)! You can fish up treasures that are way more valuable than base game treasures, the aberrant fish dishes are all maxed out by default so they sell for a lot, and any unsold fish are bought by Dredge's merchant. I made like 30,000 gold at a point where I'm lucky to earn 9,000 a night. 10,000 from the restaurant, another 10k from selling a single Dredge treasure, and 11k from the merchant buying my unsold stock. Really motivates you to try and grab all the riskier fish.

One of the crossovers in Dave The Diver is Balatro, this roguelike card game that was mega popular a few months back. I can see how people would like it. You start by using regular card hands to get a winning score, then buy these special Joker cards with various effects to reach higher score requirements. If you're lucky, you can get these crazy chain reactions where each hand gets big scores, sometimes way overshooting the score requirement.

I remember there was this stupid decision from PEGI to have it rated 18+ because it has real playing card imagery and tells you what the various hands are, arguing that it's a gateway to gambling. Even though you make zero wagers. Meanwhile, games like Fifa that have actual gambling via loot boxes are rated 3+. They were eventually convinced to lower it back to a non-stupid rating. That's like arguing that soda is a gateway to beer. They're both fizzy drinks that come in cans and bottles, so if little Timmy ever gets a sip of Pepsi, his life is already ruined.

I wish more mobile companies would do what Dave's owners did. They get rich from a mobile game, then use their profits to make a solid single-player game. And for extra goodwill, they add crossovers promoting smaller games and artists.

Yes, because earning big amounts of digital currency tickles my brain's happy spots. Moreso if there's some kind of audio/visual flair. But if spending is an important part, I won't hoard. Like, I'm playing Dave the Diver, and you're expected to spend your money on upgrades so you can hunt more/better fish for your restaurant to earn more money with.

What the eff did you just effing say about me, you little chump? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I'm the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the eff out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my effing words. You think you can get away with saying that trash to me over the Internet? Think again, effer. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You're effing dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable self off the face of the continent, you little snot. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your effing tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you idiot. I will pour fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're effing dead, kiddo.

Unfortunately, Dave The Diver does something I really dislike. There's animal parts you can use in crafting, and these are percentage-based drops instead of something every animal has. I need a certain cuttlefish part to make a tranquilizer rifle that has a 40% chance to put ANY fish to sleep, and these have low drop rates, even with nonlethal capturing.

Been playing Dave The Diver. Sometimes you see a game and instantly know you'll be owning it at some point. Dave was one of those games. It's got some phenomenal pixel art, likely because it's owned by a big company that's made some mobile games. There's these amazing, elaborate animations for things like upgrading a dish, crafting a weapon, and serving special customers their requested dish.

It alternates between two main modes. On one mode, you're diving in the ocean and hunting fish, and you get better quality meat for using the harpoon or tranquilizers. On the other, you're serving that fish in a sushi restaurant. You use your profits to buy better gear, take down more valuable fish, and serve tastier dishes. At first, it's just you as the only server and your default chef, which isn't great since Dave is a chubby dude who doesn't do so great on land, but you gain the ability to hire faster servers and extra chefs. Any staff you're not using can be sent off to fetch seasonings for more advanced dishes.

There's event nights where dishes that use a certain ingredient sell for much more, and they warn you ahead of time. One time during the jellyfish event, I got lucky enough to get the squeaky hammer to drop, so I could just put them to sleep for the best quality. I was surprised to learn that jellyfish are edible. I always assumed they'd taste terrible, if they had a taste at all.

Ocean diving is somewhat roguelike. There's always certain types of fish at certain depths, the items you find are random, and the layout is always different. There's some important landmarks that are always in the same general area, so they're easy to track down. Later, you get the ability to dive at night, where all the fish are hostile and the restaurant afterwards is only open for 2/3 of a shift.

It's gotten various crossovers in it, some as DLC, and some as part of a free update. The Godzilla and Yakuza DLCs are limited time, and Godzilla is free, so even if you're not sure about getting Dave just yet, at least get the Godzilla DLC so you have the licence for it. It already expired once, but it and Yakuza are back until the end of 2026.

One of the update crossovers is of this singer from youtube called mxmtoon. I gave a couple of her songs a listen, and they're alright, but I don't see what makes her worthy of a cameo in a game. Then again, I've always been picky about music, so I'm likely just uncultured swine.

Getting some kind of upgrade that permanently alters your appearance, so you look more stylish in cutscenes. The first game I knew of to do this was Sonic Adventure 1. Admittedly, it looked ridiculous in SA2 whenever Knuckles was around, since he gets sunglasses on his head, a metal necklace, and big bulky glove attachments. A more subdued example would be the Ezio Assassins Creed games. You could buy leather armor pieces to put on your robes, and II had a gauntlet that added a metal glove to one hand.

When you make some immediate, unambiguously positive change to the environment. Destroying some corrupting thingamabob and seeing the area around it immediately turning back to normal.

Moments where you temporarily become much stronger, but then you hit the endgame and you find some way of keeping that power boost up for pretty much the rest of the game, absolutely steamrolling what would have been a tedious gauntlet.

We're back. The comedian was Matt Rife. Dude was hilarious! His stuff was very crass and provocative, but still great nonetheless. I can't really repeat anything, otherwise the mods would shove a nuke where the sun don't shine. He wasn't terribly concerned with political correctness, let's just say.

Also, you know "that thing" that's been happening at WNBA games lately? Well, it happened here, too. Same color.

He literally sold out the entire stadium!

Huh, Vivziepop's making a Homestuck cartoon. That's a name I haven't heard in a good while. Truth be told, I was really only into Homestuck back in 2013 because people on my old hangout forum were. I struggled to make sense of the whole thing. The big lore dumps in the trolls' quirky typing styles were a pain to get through. And then it went into a literal YEAR LONG hiatus for the final update, which was more than enough time for my tenuous grasp on it to completely slip my fingers and shatter into dust. I decided I had better, less incomprehensible things to do.

And wasn't there a second one? I'm not even gonna touch that. It and Andrew's other projects are going into my "afterlife bucket list", where I don't have to worry about things like a limited mortal lifespan, mental fatigue, and eyes that get tired from staring at screens.

Apparently John Egbert is voiced by Toby Fox. I don't follow him, but I do know he made that one obscure indie game with the thicc goat MILF (or at least, that's how everyone draws her).

TopicGames with enjoyable looting

I enjoy when games have little valuables scattered around to encourage exploring the environment. While that's primarily what I had in mind, I'll accept RPG-style loot as well.

- The Luigi's Mansion series. There's loads of treasure scattered around, and you quite literally vacuum it all up. I think the first game did it the best, since it had the widest variety of treasure. 2 & 3 reduced the treasure types down to just coins, cash, and gold bars, with a bunch of collectible gems that don't actually add to your money counter.

- The Dying Light games. Society has collapsed from a zombie outbreak, and that means lots of stuff left behind to either sell or use as crafting materials. Dead Island does this as well, but it's pretty much a more sloppy version of DL, being Techland's first crack at the zombie genre. DI2 is alright at it, but it has a hard limit of 99 for materials, so you're encouraged to sell the excess.

- The Dishonored series. Since it's the spiritual successor to the Thief series, there's valuables to loot and pockets to pick. For convenience, valuables are converted to money on the spot.

- Prey (2017). In place of currency, there's four types of crafting materials. You place unwanted objects in a recycler, break them all down into neat little cubes, and hold down a button to rapidly grab them all up. If you're looting a container or body, there's these satisfying sounds that play as you clean their contents out.

- Atomic Heart. You have a glove with these robotic tendrils in it, and these essentially vacuum up the contents of containers and enemies. When looting a container, this also kicks up a bunch of loose papers and whatnot for some visual flair. If your inventory is full, excess items are automatically sent to storage so you don't have to stop and go back to a vendor.

- The two big Bethesda series, Elder Scrolls and Fallout. I'm sure you know how these work already.

- Crime Scene Cleaner. Since you're working under the table, you're free and encouraged to swipe valuables from the places you clean, since every $2000 translates to a skill point. Unfortunately, to discourage grinding early missions, unique loot (read: anything but dollar bills/bundles) doesn't respawn. Hopefully in the future, they make all loot respawn if you've got all the skill points. I wanna see how much I can earn from each level now that I'm more familiar with them.

- Never played it myself, but Red Dead Redemption II has containers to loot in addition to fallen enemies. The first game did too, but it wasn't as big a part.

- The Far Cry games from 3 onwards. 3 and 4 unfortunately had limited wallet and inventory size, so you couldn't possibly clean out the map if you wanted to, even if you had the biggest upgrades and bought all the guns and upgrades. Don't know about 6.

- Assassins Creed Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. Being more RPG-like than the others, they added more loot sources, such as hunted animals, defeated enemies, and these various small containers you can loot with a simple button press. Often, there will be multiple small containers clustered together so you can tap the loot button to rapid-fire swipe everything. Mirage also added pickpocketing to the mix.

- The Last of Us games. You're encouraged to scavenge the environment for crafting parts, meds, and the occasional training manual for a permanent upgrade.

- The Borderlands series. Kill something, and it spews out cash and gear. 2 and onwards added secondary currency to the mix.

I'm not ashamed to admit I'm total dogwater at rhythm games. My brain just isn't built for that. And then there's the motion rhythm games like Elite Beat Agents where you have to tap parts of the screen at the right time, roll a ball back and forth, and spin a wheel. I've seen competitive FPS players train themselves on mouse versions of them where the prompts flash across the screen faster than I can think, but they hit each one perfectly. The hell are they on? And where can I get some?!

And fighting games! How in the hell you can memorize the multiple complex moves for each character, then pull them off quickly multiple times in a row is beyond me. Maybe if you've been devoted to them since childhood?

Similarly, hack and slash. Multiple weapons with different button combos, each suited for different types/combinations of enemies. You bet your ass that I played the God of War reboots on easy. Thankfully they were both gifts from my brother.

I suck at Tetris and other similar games. I just can't think ahead to build these future chain reactions. My mindset is always "get a row/match made ASAP". Hopefully Lumines can change that, since it just asks you to make a 2x2 block of the same color.

Games with any kind of builder mode like Minecraft, I just have no interest in. You give me a blank slate and a bunch of parts, I'll just stare blankly and go back to the bits made by actual professionals.

He's Keen's grandfather. And considering they tried to bring Keen back with that terrible (cancelled) mobile game, it's probably for the best that Keen stays dead. They didn't even try to continue the final plot thread of the original games, where Keen was supposed to have a showdown with Mortimer to save the universe. Instead, they made it about his kids. Considering everything Mortimer accomplished despite being an elementary schooler, there's no way he'd take 25+ years to finish his grand plan.

Bully. Now that GTA Online has proven to be an infinite money printer, it's a miracle if R* acknowledges any other properties. RD2's online mode wasn't as successful, and they were probably hoping it would be a similar good mine. However, with Bully having a slightly younger target audience, a more kid-friendly R* online game could be a success. Loath as I am to admit that, since I'd MUCH rather have good old story DLC.

Any Mega Man that's not the classic one. Capcom has borderline abandoned the franchise since Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, and Street Fighter are their main draws. Whenever they do reference it, it's basically always the classic. It's a miracle that they made legacy collections of the various types, and even more miraculous that they had original content in them (rookie difficulty, dual boss challenges, speedrun courses).

Days Gone. Mediocre review scores and Bend suffering from big layoffs after releasing the remaster killed what could have been a decent franchise if it had an opportunity to smooth out some flaws.

Sleeping Dogs. When the first one came out, Square was making some dumb business decisions, being more mobile-focused, believing consoles were on their way out, and genuinely thinking Kane & Lynch was gonna be the next big thing. There were ambitious plans for a sequel, but the follow-up was an online game called Triad Wars. The development studio got shut down not long after. SD did get next-gen ports, but seemingly physical only since it's not on the PSN store.

Made another trip to that physical game store. I only got Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition for PS4, which isn't available digitally for some reason. I loved the fuck out of Sleeping Dogs back in the day. It's an open-world game set in Hong Kong with Arkham-style combat and some gunfights. Guns aren't too prevalent since they're illegal in HK, but they feel good to use whenever you do get them. If you vault over something while holding a gun, you get temporary slow-motion aiming.

In traffic, you can do an "action hijack", where you leap out of your car, land on top of someone else's, and yank them out.

I enjoyed it way more than GTAV because you actually got cool rewards for doing things. New clothes, cars, visible map collectibles, a chauffeur to deliver you cars, and story progress gave you new safehouses.

It got a DLC in 2013 called Year of the Snake, and that added new years banners in the main game displaying 2013. It felt so cool seeing that back in that golden year.

If you live near any physical game stores, definitely grab it. You won't be disappointed.

Depends, what's our item capacity situation like? Does this elixir take up one of our 20 or so slots, or do they stack?

If it's the first, I'll compare it with other health items in the inventory and local shopkeepers. If it's better than average, keep. If not sell.

If it's the second, keep and use at my convenience.

Kpop Demon Hunters was a great watch. Great songs, action sequences, and character moments.

A coffee enema will certainly help clear out your pipes, but it ain't killing cancer.

What? Is that like a blood transfusion, but with milk? Like you feed it into your veins? That sounds horrible. I don't even wanna imagine what it's like having something besides blood in your veins.

As someone who considers the original trilogy to be an all-time favorite, this one really holds up well. It's very much worth a watch if you've been craving a good comedy.

My brother took me to see the new Naked Gun. It was fucking awesome. Very much in the spirit of the originals! It basically had the kinds of utterly goofy gags you'd see in a cartoon, but in live action. Like, just for one of hundreds of examples, the opening bank heist has one of the robbers get taken as a human shield, then in the next shot he's blatantly been replaced by a dummy with its limbs loosely flopping about. Liam Neeson did a great job of being Drebin's successor, saying goofy things with a straight face and grizzled voice.

Crime Scene Cleaner came out with an update that adds remixed levels that are more creepy and surreal, so I spent the whole day playing it. As enjoyable as it was, I didn't like the physical toll it took. Tired eyes, headache, sore neck, and generally feeling like trash from sitting all day. I went to the gym today and did extra leg workouts, and am gonna be a lot more sparing with games.

Adult Swim's youtube channel has been running a Robot Chicken livestream, but it seems like they're just doing the specials dedicated to specific properties. Star Wars, Walking Dead, DC, Hanna Barbera/Archie... seems like such a waste to just rerun the same five episodes over and over when they've got lord knows how many episodes made over the past twenty years.
