After reading Color Out of Space, I don't trust anything made from a meteor.

The newest episode of Digital Circus was fantastic! All the bite size adventures were funny and the intermission was very nice to look at.

There's over 200 Mario games, so the 128th one has been out for a while. Which game that is, I have no idea.

The Godfather games were great. They were made by EA Redwood Shores (prior to becoming Visceral), so they were worked on by talented people. You could intimidate shop owners to pay you protection money, each owner had something that freaked them out more than normal so they'd pay you more to make you stop, and there were assassination missions where you earned a cash bonus if you killed the target in a certain way. The story takes place alongside the original movie, with your character working behind the scenes to help set up some iconic moments.

Sadly, they're stuck to older systems.

I've played through Mafia III multiple times. Yes, it's repetitive, buggy, and you can easily deal with enemy gangsters by just hiding around a corner and whistling to lure them over for a corner takedown, but the writing, acting, and '60s Louisiana setting is great.

Definitely feel bad for Alex Hernandez, the main character's actor. Between it and Mindseye, he's been the main star of two flops (though M3 still did way better).

- Cozy Grove. It's kind of an Animal Crossing-like with a hint of Spiritfarer. It runs on a real-time clock, so you're limited in what you can do in a day (time traveling not recommended due to bug risks). You're a custom-made cub scout who's trained in dealing with troubled spirits, so day by day, little by little, you build up trust with the major spirits until you resolve their issues. It's has a fantastic soundtrack of soothing guitar tunes.

- Hardspace: Shipbreaker. Only if you play on the "open shift" difficulty with oxygen drain disabled. It's a first-person game where you're in space, breaking down derelict spaceships and putting certain parts in the right receptacles. You have to make sure to close fuel lines and turn off power before trying to remove or cut certain objects. Only downside is that in the story mode, your coworkers contact you over the radio between some missions, and you can't use anything in your homebase while they're talking. You just have to sit there until they're done yammering. DEFINITELY save and quit after those calls.

There is a free play mode where you can do any ship type you want, but it doesn't spawn ghost ships. I'd recommend looking up how to dismantle quasar thrusters, since they're very important parts of Atlas ships, and the game doesn't teach you how.

We're already getting temperatures in the mid-90s. Usually June in Ohio doesn't get higher than the low 80s. This is gonna be one hell of a summer...

I tried Cart's mushroom chicken. It was pretty good. Though I did make a couple adjustments. I used only a single can of cream of mushroom & garlic, padded it out with a can's worth of milk, and I added some leftover ground turkey to the mix. My brother's only issue was me cooking the chicken a bit too long.

Maybe the problems of two people don't amount to a hill of beans, but this is our hill... and these are our beans!

There's a topic on CE where you submit prompts for an AI image. This one was "Xena riding a leather horse down a rainbow." With the rainbow hair and cutie mark, this obviously made me think of Rainbow Dash.

That says everything you need to know. Duke Nukem is not a character that will do well today. He's very politically-incorrect character, so he wouldn't work in the politically-correct modern day. Any adaptation of Duke will absolutely butcher him.

Marathon had to be delayed because it was found out that it had plagiarized art. Why would a company as big as Bungie resort to art theft? Not only that, but the originals were single player games with a darker atmosphere and an incredibly complex plot under the surface, but the new one is a bright extraction shooter. Something with a plot that complex shouldn't be multiplayer-only.

Went to a cousin's graduation party. It was at this little lodge in a park. I took a walk outside and saw a couple wild turkeys and a snake. Some other guys saw the snake and said it wasn't harmful. Don't know what it was, myself. It was about three feet long and dark brown.

Unsure if mentioned but would the Splatoon series count? You can create a character and make them black, and in the DLCs for 2 and 3 Marina is one of your supporters.

Custom characters and NPCs don't count. Has to be a pre-set playable character, even if they're one of many.

Also, apparently Sir Hammerlock from Borderlands 2 is black (thought he was really tanned from being an avid outdoorsman), so would his sister Aurelia count? She was a DLC character for Pre-Sequel.

Wolfenstein: The New Colossus has a DLC expansion called Gunslinger Joe that stars a black man.

Right. Enough with the zombie games that have human antagonists. I can buy that there'd be some opportunistic jackasses that would take advantage of the chaos, but they should be a mild road bump on the journey.

The recent "smash hit" Mindseye. It stars the same VA/model who did Lincon Clay in Mafia III.

Playstation is now offering refunds for Mindseye even if you've already downloaded it, which is something I've only heard of them doing once, back when Cyberpunk 2077 first came out. All that's missing is it getting temporarily delisted. Oh, and the game apparently has no melee or explosive weapons. You'd think those would be among the basic attack options for a modern/futuristic sandbox game!

They did also give full refunds for Concord, but that was a multiplayer-only online game that died after less than two weeks.

Well, crap. That game Mindseye turned out to be a half-baked turd. I didn't buy it, but reviewers are showing that it's buggy, uninspired, empty, and there's absolutely no punishment for killing civilians. Can't believe a game headed up by former Rockstar CEO Leslie Benzies would turn out like this.

Also feel bad for Alex Hernandez, the voice and model for the main character. He seems like a cool dude and is a good actor, but with Mindseye and Mafia III, he's now been the main star in two flops.

I wonder if the monster will be as terrifying as the baby thing. Genuinely the only horror monster I've had nightmares about.

The gameplay was great, but the dialogue and numerous "follow this person at their own pace" missions dragged it down.

Been replaying Days Gone since it got a PS5 remaster. It's better than I remember, since I was going through bad periods in my life the last two times I played it. First time was when I had the stomach virus, and the second time was when 2020 was at its 2020-iest. It's a zombie game where a motorcycle is your primary mode of transport.

It's got some interesting ideas. Like, you automatically loot a zombie ear when you kill one, then you can turn those ears into one of the main camps for credits that you can only use at that camp. Doing favors for each camp unlocks new guns, supplies, and motorcycle upgrades. Each camp leader is a very flawed person with their own methods of running their camps, but they have understandable reasons why.

There's roaming zombie hordes that can consist of up to 200 zombies, which is impressive to see and terrifying when they're gunning for you. Also annoying since you can encounter them early in the game, well before you're remotely ready to take on even a small horde. They sleep in caves during the daytime, preventing you from getting any upgrades they're guarding, but they wander at night.

Unfortunately, it suffers from some tedious design. Missions where you're temporarily forced to a slow walk, and HUD elements don't really pop. Like, your health and stamina are represented by green and blue bars, but if they're not full, the depleted parts are only slightly darker, so I've died a couple times because I didn't know I was almost dead. Human enemies can also see you well before you see them. A sniping mission was difficult since it took place at a foggy night, and I couldn't even see the center of my crosshairs clearly.

You have a gun locker, but you can only add guns to it by buying them from camps. You scavenge a decent one, it's not really yours. I took down a heavy and swiped his LMG, but eventually got to a cutscene where you find a free sniper rifle. You automatically equip it, so the LMG is gone.

I genuinely cannot remember 99% of my pre-2020 days.

This action horror game called ILL that I became interested in some years back finally got a new trailer, and it looks fucking sick. Seriously, the enemy designs are very grotesque, and you can shoot their limbs off. I really don't feel safe posting it, but I'd recommend giving it a watch.

My dad showed me this app called Citizen. It basically alerts you of any incidents that happen in a roughly 15 mile radius of you. It also shows any sex offenders living in the area, but you have to pay to get their full names and unblurred mugshots.

Hero and villain fight each other for days to get a powerful artifact that could do a lot of good for the world. Hero defeats the villain, decides the world isn't ready for this artifact and destroys it.

Can we have a story where the world IS ready for it, then? Imagine the storytelling potential that has!

when protagonist is looking at something, camera shifts to the thing, then back to protagonist, then back to the thing, but the thing is gone. or camera moves temporarily behind a tree, with same effect.

sure, for the audience it's this "how did it disappear?" mystery vibe thing, but the protagonist was looking at it the whole time

Or the protagonist is carrying a flashlight and is panning it across the room, pans over a scary/odd thing that anyone else would have spotted immediately, then stops and moves back, and the thing is gone.

I'm so tired of minimalism. Bring back the lively frutiger aero aesthetic dashboards from systems like the PS3, Wii, Wii U, and 360! Being on those made me more excited to get into my game.

Like, let's pretend you're a kid who likes going to some indoor park or arcade, and there's a lobby you have to get through before you get into the play area. Wouldn't you rather have the lobby be as enjoyable to look at as the main area? Sure, it doesn't need to look good since the play area is where all the fun is, but a lobby that matches that lively and playful aesthetic would get you excited for what's to come. The Switch 1/2 dashboards are basically the equivalent of that lobby looking like a plain office; the most boring thing a playful kid could think of.

When they announced on Twitter in 2020 that they were making a new synaesthesia game, I was hoping that they meant another Rez. But I'm fine with Lumines. It doesn't seem to have a high skill ceiling like Tetris does.

My brother let me play around with the Switch 2 tablet for a bit. It's bigger and definitely feels overall nicer to use, especially the joysticks. You can indeed use the joycons as a mouse. I just wish the dashboard had personality to it like the 2010s consoles did, because it still uses the same incredibly basic one the first Switch does. The PS3, 4, 360, Wii, and Wii U all had lively dashboards with a frutiger aero aesthetic. Those welcoming facades made you more excited to get into your games! People are tired of minimalism!
