So you're a little sick. That doesn't mean it's time to throw in the towel. Like Darkman said, you owe it to yourself to react to this if need be, but at the same time try not to let this bring down your quality of life. Yeah the treatments might make you a little sick, but if my fatass 70 year old farmer grandpap bailed hay all summer while he was going through chemo then I'm sure you'll do fine.

You're young and it's an easy type of cancer to beat it. Don't be worried about a worst case scenario that's highly unlikely to happen. Worry about how you're going to fucking beat this, and how you're going to make this experience turn you into a stronger person. No matter what life throws at you, always use that experience to better yourself.

And I know you don't know me super well, but if you need an ear from someone who won't sit there the whole time throwing a pity party and telling you a bunch of depressing shit like how sorry I am for you, that PM button is always there my dude. I don't mean that in a rude way either, but if you're anything like me, I fucking despised when my dad died when I was in 5th grade and all people wanted to do was tell me they were sorry. I appreciated their concern, but I hated the pity. So anyways, I'm here if you need it.

This was motivational as hell and I weirdly imagined that Penn Jillette was yelling it at me. Like that's the voice I heard it in.

Anyway, thanks a ton, and I'll definitely take you up on that.

Yeah, I think you'll probably be able to take a lot and bounce back pretty fast. It's good that you're keeping an open thought just in case, but like you said you need to get back to what's important. Just take care of you.

Fingers crossed and everything. In the past when I've had health issues I've usually reacted well to treatments.

And yeah, it's grim to say, but if the prognosis turns bad, there are definitely things that can be done (legally of course) to help me.

Not lymphoma, but I'm stage iv colon cancer. Been on chemo for a year now, doing pretty well. I won't lie, it was excruciating at first, but about a month and a half into it the side effects became manageable. Just don't give up.

Apparently a symptom of lymphoma is your nodes react badly to ingesting alcohol

Since I've never been much of a drinker I didn't notice anything

But the last few months I noticed whenever I would take Nyquil for like a cold or something then I would get awful pain in my neck when it would start to take effect.

I checked my Nyquil today and noticed it's 10% alcohol lol

So PSA, if your neck hurts after taking Nyquil, you might have lymphoma

Hang in there. Cancer sucks, but every day progress is being made. And, I'm only assuming, but, I'm guessing you're pretty young? You should be able to tank through harder therapy that most of the demographic typically can't, and you should have a pretty good chance of living for a lot longer if not beating it completely.

Mhm. Mid 20s, which is kinda my prime I guess ha ha. I'm hoping I can jump in and take this thing out. I gotta get back to my life.

Though I'll admit, the prospect of the chemo not taking or things taking a bad turn has already crossed my mind. So I'm already talking out contingencies and stuff.

Everyone in my real life already knows and have been totally supportive and loving.

It's just kinda heartwarming seeing the support on here, esp from people who like me are regulars here (though it's still appreciated even if you're not a regular lol). The particular ones that stand out are the users I've gotten into plenty of political arguments with before. The folks from the opposing side. It's like, yeah we're all nasty to each other and give each other shit, but we're still a community.

And it's just super nice seeing the goodwill pour in from you all.

Lymphoma has the highest survival rate. IIRC greater than 50% average across all stages with something like 90% if stage 1.

All 4 of my grandparents had cancer and numerous other relatives as well.

Now I did ask the doc that, but she said something of only like 5% of cancers are genetic. I think I have a second cousin or great uncle who had lymphoma when he was around my age, but I don't think it's genetic.

I was hoping the same too and asked her what else she thought it could be. She was pretty adamant about it and said probably 90%-95% sure that it was indeed lymphoma. The biopsy in her opinion is just to narrow down which form of it it is.

Lymphoma is generally one of the more treatable cancers. Theyre never an easy road, but the prognosis is generally very good assuming no complications from chemotherapy.

I've heard horror stories of shit like people having their throats burned from chemo and all that. That really scares me.

I had a persistent cough for almost two months, glands that wouldn't go down, chest pain, and night sweats.

The kick in the nuts was I stopped having those symptoms a few weeks ago.

We're not sure yet. I'm getting them examined so we can find out more specific stuff on it.

Don't know what kind yet, but my doctor did remind me of that repeatedly that lymphoma is one of the more easily treated ones.

I had felt off for a few months so I went in to my doc back in January and just to stay on the safe side, she sent me in for an ultrasound. The ultrasound found something and she called me in for more tests. Got the results today at an appointment with her.

I'm getting a biopsy down on several lymph nodes in my neck, and they'll be examined to confirm it is and what stage it's at, but my doctor was very adamant that it was indeed lymphoma.

The results from a CT scan came in showing several lymph nodes swollen in my neck.

Thankfully an ultrasound showed no issues with my abdominal area.

I'm so fucking scared right now.
