yknow I would say that Jonathon Kent, at least in the Birthright origin story (the best and definitive Superman origin imo) definitely reads as conservative (in the army, multigenerational farming family, not really interested in embracing new things)

Look I have my issues with Newsom's politics and his career as governor in California, but he very clearly has a seething, genuine disdain and utter contempt for Republicans and conservatives (and Trump most of all) and makes no desire to hide it, which I find admirable.
