I've done this style of poll contest once before, back in either Gen VII or Gen VIII, so why not try it again now? The rules are simple: each day, I'm going to post a poll for a given Pokemon typing, with each generation's roster of new Pokemon filling in that typing. You just need to look at what each generation had to offer, and select which generation you think brought the best new roster (for any reason; you could say that a single Pokemon was so good that it overwhelms everything else the generation spawned, or you could select a generation that may be more well-rounded that the one that created your personal favorite). At the end of the day, one generation will be crowned a champion (with potential tiebreakers if need be), and that generation will advance to a second round, where the eighteen winners, and fourteen strongest runner-ups will be sorted into a 32-entrant tournament to crown which generation produced the best overall roster of a single typing.

The tournament has now begun. The discussion topic is here: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/8-gamefaqs-contests/80744044 and the bracket is here: https://www.bracketmaker.com/tlist.cfm?tid=478370

This marks the last match of round one, featuring our second seed (Gen V Bug) that managed to hold a massive blowout (while still offering stiff competition, as another Bug-type clinched a wild card spot). Meanwhile, Gen VIII didn't have the best of luck in the preliminaries, but it managed two wild cards, and Normal is all that's left. Can Gen VIII Normal secure an upset, or will it get destroyed just like Gen I Normal did?

Or penultimate match of round one ended very close (perhaps due to the delayed ending), but the winner never really lost its lead. It's kind of a shame, because I like the Steel-type, and Gen III Steel is a solid set of Pokemon, but I guess more people just prefer Gen V Ghost via a 26-24 vote.

They've had bad legs but they're acceptable racers who have made some mistakes. Sunny & Bizzy, Kishori & Karishma, Anthony & Bailey and Maya & Rohan were all actively terrible at the race and the first half of the season was (marginally) more exciting for it.

I'm not saying they're not actively terrible, I'm just saying that you'd think by this point that ONE of the boring teams would've screwed up enough to get eliminated. Like, Yvonne & Melissa's best performance thus far is 4th Place. After eight legs. And they beat Angie & Danny now, who WEREN'T entirely terrible racers.

We're nearing the end of round one, and that means it's time for the second of only two match-ups in the first round without a wild card vying to earn it's spot in the Sweet Sixteen. While they may not have been the strongest performers, that might be a result of rosters with a good deal of strength behind them, and now we'll find our if Gen III Steel or Gen V Ghost has the strength to prove its worth and secure a spot in round two.

Two days in a row, Flying faced off against Gen VII, and both times proved disastrous for Gen VII's only representation in this contest. This time it was the plentiful roster of Gen I Flying that took home a doubling victory of 28-14 to give us a Flying vs. Flying match-up in round 2.

Yesterday was a match between Gen VII and Flying, and today is a match between Gen VII and Flying. This time around though, Flying isn't just the wild card, but rather Gen I's winning Flying roster. Meanwhile, Gen VII has its second and last remaining entry with Bug-types (ironically enough including a solid Fairy-type from yesterday as well). Will the type match-up play out as expected and give us our first single-type match-up? Or will Bug score the upset victory?

Despite its high seeding, it turns out that was just the result of the rest of the roster not being up to par, and while the match wasn't a complete blowout, Gen VII Fairy still lost comfortably to Gen VI Flying in a 23-16 vote.

Only one roster from the back half of Pokemon's lifespan managed to outright win a typing. Gens VI, VIII and IX managed some second places, but Gen VII Fairy was the only roster to outright WIN a generation. But it's got a tough match-up ahead of it, because Gen VI's Flying roster, complete with a plethora of Mega evolutions is looking to stamp out the Fairy-types that it originated.

We had a close match-up between Gen III Water and Gen III Psychic, but I guess the biggest names for Psychic outweighed the biggest names for Water. For me personally, both of them have a few too many duds for my tastes, but this was a big match-up, so congrats to Gen III Psychic on a 23-21 victory.

Here, we have our only match-up in round 1 between two rosters from a single generation. Gen III is well-known for its Water-types, (7.8 too much water and all that), but Water is coming into this match-up as a wild card, having lost its preliminary to yesterday's blowout victor in Gen I. Meanwhile, Gen III Psychic scored one of the highest wins in its preliminary round, which makes this match-up all the more interesting to see whether Psychic's overall roster was strong or weak, compared to another typing from the same generation.

In the biggest blowout of the contest thus far, Gen I Water almost quadruples Gen VIII Poison while posters in the voting topic demonstrate terrible opinions on the quality of Gen VIII's Poison roster. :P But yeah, another big and relatively obvious win for Gen I, by a score of 31-8.

Galarian Slowbro is better than the original, Hisuian Qwilfish and Overqwil are WAY better than the original. Hisuian Sneasel and Sneasler, while not better than the original duo, are still awesome in their own rights. Galarian Weezing is a hilarious take on Weezing and makes it stand out more. And then Toxtricity and Eternatus are just badass.

Galarian Slowking is a step down, but it's still pretty good. And then Toxel's just...yeah.

Today's match features Gen I Water, which is so abundant that I couldn't even fit the word "line" alongside most of the Pokemon listed. It will be facing off against the first of two Gen VIII wild cards to make the field, this time with Gen VIII Poison. Poison didn't have a strong showing in its first appearance in the tournament, so we'll have to see if the underdog can dethrone Gen I for the second day in a row.

Dark's strongest roster couldn't hold its own against Gen V Fire, yet when it came to taking on Gen I Normal (which I personally consider a very strong selection of Pokemon, especially with classics like Snorlax, Meowth/Persian, Eevee, Ditto, Porygon, and the Normal/Flying birds), Gen IX Dark reigned supreme, keeping Gen IX in the contest another round (should've been Fighting though) by a score of 23-17.

Today's match brings in another Gen IX wild card, although this one managed to look a lot strong in the preliminaries as the highest placing wild card seed. It's also the only remaining Dark-type after Gen II's complete dismissal. However, it faces strong competition in terms of Gen I Normal, although Normal itself proved to be one of the less enthusiastic days of the preliminary rounds. As such, this match-up could be a real coin flip.

Today's match sees one of the big three thirty-vote blowout victories from the preliminaries in Gen III's dragon roster, going big after two generations of Dragons being rare and limited. Meanwhile, they're facing off against a wild card (and one of Gen IX's only two entries in the field of 32) as Gen IX Fighting--my personal favorite generation for Fighting-types--looks to stay alive and prove it deserved to win the Fighting-types overall.

Yesterday's match saw a handy win for Gen I Poison, but it still seems less than it could have been, facing off against Gen VI's Fairy wild card, yet not quite managing to score the kind of blowout this match-up should have warranted. Still, a 26-16 victory puts Gen I Poison into the Sweet Sixteen all the same.

Have you all picked new movies every time? Or has there been some overlap?

We've largely avoided overlap up to this point. Though I think if we do some more specific list (directors/actors/etc.) we might have to repeat a couple.

I feel like I'd rank The Shining above but The Thing is more my kind of movie? However, like I said earlier I needed to watch The Shining twice to get into it and The Thing three times. The latter at least, feels like a movie that gets better with age.

Also huh we like snowy horror lol.

This is the most normal post you've ever made. More like these, please.
