Not gonna lie: this is a kind of weak year for a standout nominee. All of the weird bad shit happened outside the ring.

I'm onto something Engage Kiss. It has some weird red flags (Protagonist-chan of the day, and harem show that isn't a harem show writing 101), but the characters seem likeable enough despite how stupid it all is. The action scenes were pretty crazy and the auction/online components of the city are pretty neat. I'm not bowled over yet like I instantly was with Otherside and IWGP, but it has some potential.

I'm about halfway through Otherside Picnic, and I'm pretty impressed. It's doing the weird Mushi-shi creepy shit, but with two grounded main characters that have pretty great chemistry. I hope it sticks the landing.

Yes. She's just a afterwork boozed up workaholic. My mom slightly drinks sometimes, but always seems to work and get shit done. Missto always seems to buckle down and get down to business. I remember that episode where she dressed up for that dinner event and Shinji and PenPen we're like, "DAFUQ?!"

The question is what kind of business Makima even does, much less how she does it. I'd probably rather have Balalaika from Black Lagoon pointing a gun at me to keep my trap shut.

I think it has always had "title of their choosing" as the wording. The letter of the law vs. spirit of the law sort of thing. They just never ran into a situation like this where someone had such an iron grip as THE world champion, MITB never felt so arbitrary and pointless.

While it doesn't excuse treated Theory like a scrublord, it is a thing they could always do. The secondary titles were just never the "semi-main event" championships this rare situation afforded them. I will say I imagine HHH's aim is, "Roman, Seth, Lashley, Lesnar, Wyatt, name 10-15 other guys are in their mid-late 30s/40s. By the time they age out, Theory won't even be mid-30s. Again, I'm not saying Theory should be beaten into the ground like he has been. But Vince was doing the exact opposite, and going too fucking fast. It could have backfired either way.

I think I'm going to wait on Chainsaw Man. I'm watching episode 2, and kinda...hating it. Makina's awesome. The straight laced dude is kinda cool, but Denji is a fucking t*** that won't stop talking about boobs and the other girl is...really annoying after just two scenes. Something tells me those two would slowly kill whatever interest I have for "OOH, look at all the chainsaw blood!"

Maybe someday I'll get the itch to watch it again, but I'll just stick to Spy X Family.

Finished up Mieruko-chan and am now onto something called DECA-DENCE. Seems like a good Mad Max sort of version of Knights of Sidonia. I'm cautiously optimistic, because the main character is pretty cool so far.

The sad thing is we can't blame this on Vince either.

I will give HHH this: WWE cards since he took over have only had 6-7 matches. Nothing seems to be there for filler/cold matches. Some get the death spot, but that's unavoidable when 3-4 matches all have decent build between them.

Good to know Chainsaw Man knows how to make a first impression. I want my own chainsaw dog.

Trying a new show called Mieruko-chan. Of the 3-4 shows I tried (Warriors of Sigrdrifa was going good until the annoying girls showed up), Mieruko has potential. I'm hoping for more from the premise, but it'll really come down to how the main character handles things. If it's just "I don't see ghosties" jumpscares for 12 episodes, it could get boring pretty fast. My old favorite bullshit "forced fanservice" is rearing its head too.

As for MAL, I find it useful IF a score is hovering around 6-6.5 or so. Anything lower than that must be trash for a reason.

I'm reminded I would have given Wonder Egg Priority a bomb just for it's ending of the rest of it wasn't decent enough.

I don't even like Brotherhood as much as 03, so I find it extra hilarious. 03's pacing suited me better. But either way, treating Brotherhood (or OoT in Metacritic's case) as holier than thou says more about how stupid those people are for pulling that shit.

The fact that those people do this gives me a stark reminder that the internet is full of sad, pathetic people. I haven't even seen Chainsaw Man yet...I want to join in the fun like everyone else.

Finally got around to Lycoris Recoil. Not sure what to think yet. It has some charm, but Chisato kinda annoys me. She's likeable, but in the "Ruby Rose on crack" kind of way. It's almost too much. I also think the happy go lucky comedy is at odds with what this show is trying to do. Not everything has be "Black Lagoon" gritty, but this is almost going way off in the opposite direction sometimes.

Shadows House S2 was better to me because the darker tone, mystery, and focus on Kate. Emilico has he place, but for a show with a weird macabre sensibility and visual style, S2 was what it needed.

I like it, but I dumped Netflix right as new eps were showing up months ago. Trying to save money.

I had some reservations about Higehiro: [The Age Gap Romance With a Shitty Title]. I'm about halfway in. It's not Rumbling Hearts god tier, but not complete trash either. It suffers from usual harem bullshit oblviousness (God...dude...just make up your fucking mind already, you're 26). However, it seems to be less shit than that really stupid ass title would have led me to believe. It has its moments, and a decent message.

Considering this could EASILY go south, but hasn't yet, it might stick the landing and not turn into Koi Kaze awkward gutter slut bullshit.

Game beated; 45 hours or so. Anyone worried about the length shouldn't be.

Final boss can be a bit tricky, but decent demon setups and enough items is good enough to deal with it.
