I get an extra $1600 a year in tax savings alone, not including the tax credits. With 3% interest that becomes $2080 after 10 years, and that's just for the first year. I like how 65% of CE doesn't have a job. It really explains everything.

$1600 is piss money lol. You are poor if that means something to you.

Go get more materials then lol.

I rotate between Charge Blade, Greatsword and Bow every few hours or for certain monsters. I keep at least 3 of each type: 1 for damage, 1 for element, and 1 for status. I always try and upgrade when I can, and grind for materials when I need them.

I did right after this lol. I made a shit load of progress last two days. Rocking a badass switch axe and my sworn rapiers(dual swords). I love those things.

Yeah, that's the gist of it. SOS will call in more people but make the monster tougher. It is worth noting, though, that people can still join without the SOS (through the 'join session' option), but only from your session and only if you didn't password lock it.

I never have anyone join unless I use SOS flare since it goes to all sessions

I'm having way too much fun with the bow. I'm just going for high raw damage, no status or element. But knocking over a monster, stunning with arc shot, placing a pitfall trap, stunning again, all while unleashing hell on their face from a safe distance? Fuck yes lol

Then there's Dragon Piercer, and the ability to mount with the lunging melee... bow is way too good.

I'm over here not wanting to manage ammo on a bow but yet have no issue managing insects lol

Insect Glaive often gets overlooked by new players because of kinsect and essence management, but it's a very fun and flashy weapon.

The thing is, I'm a newcomer, and I find it far less complicated to learn than the charge blade, which I still have trouble with.

A basic tutorial online and fucking around with it in expedition has already given me a solid grasp of how to use it.

It's actually an extremely forgiving weapon for new people.

1) the speed and agility of dual blades lends to being able to dodge and move around easier

2) longer reach like other 2h weapons also lends to security of avoiding attacks

3) vault is yet another way to avoid enemy attacks by being airborne, also makes it easy to mount monsters.

4) has DoT damage which helps.

It takes more time to learn than the basic weapon types, but isn't anywhere near as complicated as some of the other technical weapons, and is super forgiving.

It really let's you control the battlefield better.

It's also easier to manage elemental damage on due to being able to change elements on kinsects.

I'm currently rocking the poison staff with the poison bug. Oh yeah baby.

I did a great jagras in half the time as with dual blades, and it's fantastic for aoe on small monsters. Only thing is it seems to lose sharpness easily.

You know what'd be an even better decision? Getting a 4TB (or more) internal one.

(Yes, you can replace the internal HDD on the PS4, it doesn't even void your warranty. It's not like Xbox where you have to get their proprietary one, for the models where you can even do it at all.)

I know you can. But if you look it up, games oddly read faster from external drives than internal ones. That's why I went external.

You mount monsters by doing attacks that do "mounting" damage. Every air attack does mounting damage, but even some attacks from the ground for certain weapons can do it as well (such as the bow's lunging arrow attack).

The more mounting damage you accumulate, the higher the chance that the next attack with mounting damage will cause you to mount the monster.

Oh hmm. Didn't know this.

The main reason people recommend the bow over the bowguns is the fact that you don't have to manage so much different ammunition and make sure you keep reserves up. In terms of actually using the weapon, the bow is much more particular.

But range affecting damage made Mr never touch it.

I dunno, I looked up what weapons were newbie friendly. And honestly, the training room doesn't really do a good job teaching weapons. I had to take them all on expeditions and just play with them against actual enemies. I f***ing love the dual blades. Quick strikes, dodging, etc.. The fast style works for me.

I don't believe in the idea of newbie friendly weapons. They used to say this about the Bow, how it's a much easier weapon to get into than the LBG or HBG. But this is a 1000+ hour game. If you spend a good half hour reading up on the ammo the bowguns use, that's 80% of the learning curve there. The rest is learning to use the weapon and it boils down to point and shoot it till it dies. The bowguns are radically different from the Bow and the Bow requires a lot more micromanagement between its paltry amount of coatings and stamina consumption management as the Bow is a heavy user of a stamina.

The training room, if it's like the beta's (I haven't touched it), is just to get a feel for how the weapon works and how to use the weapon. How to hunt with it, yeah, you have to go for practical experience. The only place you can get that is ON THE HUNT!

Yeah, expedition seems to be the best way to try out weapons since there's no time limits or anything.

My reaction time sucks as I get older lol, so the quick strike and dodge setup of dual blades works well for me. I need to try out greatsword tonight actually, dunno if the slow style will work for me, but I wanna find out.

I never understood why people do that. My advice has always been to sit down and experiment until you find a weapon that clicks. Most people never touch the SnS the moment they look at the other weapons.

Glad you're enjoying it. Fashion hunter is a curse. The need to get all the armor makes it take so much longer to actually progress, lol

And your palico should basically be geared the same way you would be. So if a monster is giving you trouble and you switch to armor/weapon with the appropriate element or ailment attached, then you should do the same for your palico. It doesn't always seem like it at first, but gearing your palico right helps them survive longer, which in turn gives you a lot more openings.

That's good to know, thanks a lot man. And yeah, I've been still upgrading my jagra chest piece because I like how it looks lol.

A) I adore the structure of rhe game. I can play for a little bit and still feel like I did a lot. Which is awesome with my busy schedule.

B) I actually prefer not to marathon the game even when I have time to, playing a few quests or hunts then going to another game just feels better for some reason.

C) it took me a stupid long time to find weapons I liked. Everyone recommended sword and shield for newbies but I honestly hate that weapon. After much experimentation I found that the dual blades and longsword are my best weapons, especially dual blades, the fast agile playstyle suits me best, plus the demon mode is awesome. D) the learning curve is definitely no joke. I'm still figuring things out lol. Not a bad thing, I love this games complexities.

E) this games community is excellent. I often send SOS flares just to make fights harder and it's more fun playing with other people. People seem so eager to help kill monsters.

F) exploring the world is so much fun.

G) I still don't know exactly how best to outfit my palico. I've been just giving him whatever armor has most defense and switching between the poison bow and this big ass mace depending on what I'm doing.

All in all I'm having a blast and see myself playing this for a long time, especially due to that structure I mentioned really supporting playing just a bit and still getting shit done. It's the perfect game for people who have busy schedules.
