I assume this game will dive heavily into Atreus story. We just touched the surface at the end of the last game.

What changes are you looking for?

For the puzzles- are you referring to the chests that are locked by runes that you have to destroy, or using your axe to freeze stuff to get through it

The stranger fight was definitely very gripping. You do encounter him a few more times through the game though. I thought the Valkyries were fun too.

He does feel a little slow. Im glad youre able to sprint in combat. I try to mix up my attacks to keep everything feeling fun/fresh

Apparently Kratos is a lot more brutal with his executions

Amazon hasn't even shipped it for me yet, I'm wondering if I should just cancel it and order it digitally <_<

I know my friend does for games he likes so he has a "display" for it. He is a streamer, so he needs to have stuff in the background sometimes.

Personally, I just go digital now.

Won't get to play it until tomorrow because it won't unlock until 11:00 p.m. tonight and I got to be up at 4:00 in the morning to work

You know, that's a good quesiton. I think rarely do they even come in a disc anymore. Though the last tim I bought a physical copy, it was for the Original God of War fo the PS4 and that one had a disc lol.

The Modern warfare bundle I got along with my ps5 was just the code. Which passed me off because I was planning to trade it and my ps4 for GODWR :/

Yeah, the devs take on some of the Norse mythology in the 2018 game didn't click well with me. I haven't really watched much footage but I hope at least Odin, Thor, and the rest of the Aesir are portrayed well enough.

Even the original God of War didn't really follow the Greek mythology that well either, though I guess the difference is those games were more "cartoony" than God of Boi and followed it closer than stuff like Disney's Hercules lol.

Probably my other complaint was that they only touched the surface of Norse Mythology with the first game, so I'm hoping at least they explore it more in depth with this game and with bigger cinematics for bigger boss fights like in the old God of War games.

Played it for two hours so far, it's as great as you expect. Am now pretty sure that what I got spoiled on is indeed a major plot point, so bummer for me, but it's still great.

Anyone worried about the enemy variety, I would say just this little bit has indicated they've done work there.

I played for about 50 minutes, and it's taking me some getting used to to get feel comfortable with some of the controls, for some reason even though they're utilized well.

I'm liking it so far, though.

I stopped playing Horizon:FW to play this one. The thing fucking me up is that the dodge in that game is a six foot leap on the O button while this one is a small step/roll to the side with X lol.

lol, yup.

I keep pressing the circle button to dodge, and I think square and triangle to attack.

I did notice that for the first time I've personally ever seen in a console game, you can actually completely rebind the controls.

Okay, the poems are going to be fun collectibles. I've found two so far and it wasn't immediately obvious what they were talking about but very amusing once you realize.

The first one is literally just describing the Horizon series. Ironically, I think I'd have figured that one out faster if I hadn't paused playing that game to play this one. I thought I was just seeing something that wasn't there. God, it's even called "Sunrise of Nothingness" aka Zero Dawn.

The second one is a Norse-era dwarf's description of baseball.

Made sure to put my controller on the charger before leaving lol.

You can always pay an extra $10 to upgrade, if you end up getting a ps5 in the future.

Damn, I'm rusty as hell in this game. I'm trying God of War difficulty and I'm just constantly dying. I don't remember me suffering this much on this difficulty level in the first game. I had to turn it down by 1 more level and it honestly seems more fair now.

I watched the first few minutes and it's stated that it feels like a game made for the PS4 with some extras thrown in to the PS5 version. There's very little difference graphically, specifically saying you only really see the differences in side-by-side.

Skipped ahead to the end to check the performance. Base PS4 has a mostly stable 30FPS with a few rare dips. Pro has two modes. Resolution mode is rock solid 30FPS throughout. Performance mode is a little shakier; it tends to average between 40-55FPS and goes up and down a lot. They say the lowest they saw was 35FPS, highest was 60FPS if you're staring at the empty sky.

My gamestop was apparently pretty stocked with PS5s. When I went to pick up my preorder there was a few customers walking out the door with them.

Looked like the 550ish dollar god of war bundles.

Goddamn, that opening was a banger. Hype delivered.

Definitely gonna try playing some of it today.
