That's an impressive win for Half-Life 2. Maybe FE7 is even weaker than we imagined.

I would say I wished I had been there to vote in the rankings topic, but I would have only given Zelda:TP 25th place for one point anyway. I agree that a win against Brawl next week could still give it some consideration.

Besides, I'd rather see Mega Man 2 on the list anyway, for the sake of seeing more non-Nintendo games on there.

Well this puts Twilight Princess at around Uncharted 2's level, which I feel is enough to defeat Brawl.

It all rests on whether "Zelda" or "Smash" is a bigger anti-voting target, really.

I just love this CT dominance.

LMS is eccentric, but I can sort of see where he's coming from. He has a set of ideas about how strong games are (and how strong they deserve to be) and cannot accept things not going according to plan. So with each surprise, he has to construct a stranger and stranger edifice of reasonings and rationalizations to make things make sense. It's what I've done with CT characters in contests for years. That said, his vote this week was incredibly weird, and I have no idea how one could arrive at that list.

I'm not surprised at that. The game probably has had the weakest schedule so far. The strongest games it has been up against were Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow and Dark Cloud 2 and even then they aren't that impressive. A match against something like Chrono Trigger would do wonders for it, relatively speaking.

While the game suffers from anti-votes the game doesn't do well with the average voter either. If they're anything like me Umineko falls pretty low in the voting hierarchy for games they haven't played.

Games from series I like > Games from series I know >= Games I know > Games with cool name > Other Games > Games with a title not in english.

Some people may not have the last part.

I already stated that I will always rate an undefeated game ahead of one that has at least one loss because the undefeated game has match in and match out got the job done unlike ones with a loss.

Also note that I do not do my ballots in line with the vision of Leonhart because I do not believe in that kind of rating because in this case, there's no point in voting really. We should all just put in old Pokemon, MGS, Super Mario, Legend of Zelda, Ace Attorney, Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, and Resident Evil 4 in our ballots and essentially that covers the Top 25. Instead, I reward the 25 games, well 24 before this past week, that I felt have had the best season so far. I feel the same way with the NCAA in sports, but that's another discussion for a different kind of topic.

You do realize there's more to having the best season than "Winning every game on the schedule," right?

While I agree with you in principle that winning trumps most things, that doesn't necessarily mean a game with no losses deserves to be ranked the highest simply because it has no losses.

Like I said in the post before, those games have emerged victorious in every match they have had thus far. A game with a loss cannot say the same thing. I am not saying that people have to agree with me but understand where I am coming from

I understand where you're coming from.

But Path of Radiance hasn't beaten a single game worth a darn this season, and it's paying for it right now.

It's one of those things where I think, "How many other games would be 8-0 if it faced POR's schedule?"

The answer would be, "A lot."

The level of competition has to factor in somewhat.

I don't like the idea that level of competition trumps direct results.

But I also don't like the idea that the record is all that matters.

That's perfectly fine; it's good to have diversity in criteria for rankings. I hope most people don't rank that way though; personally I think most voters punish games for losing too hard (when the losses are to strong games).

I knew that Path of Radiance was not going to continue its winning ways and if it does lose this week, I doubt that I will be ranking it on my ballot next week. However, I decided that I would reward it for the season it has had thus far. I don't care if it only faced games with no more than two wins, it still did what it had to do. Can't fault an entrant for that
