Well, I for one am happy that CT and ALttP are facing each other this week. CT needs another marquee win to bolster it because it's going to take a huge hit once conference play starts (only two other games in Smash Trigger have winning records, and they're 6-3 and 5-4; furthermore, six of the remaining nine already have at least 7 losses), and A Link to the Past needs to be put back in its place. Seriously, after 7 weeks, it was ranked 8th, and then it gets a win over a middling game and suddenly it was in a dead tie for 2nd in the voting and looks to be comfortably in 2nd this week. Of course, any #1 vs. #2 is exciting, but given the huge jump that ALttP made, I'm not really sure why it's #2.
(Then again, looking further back, it was at #5 for two straight weeks before falling to #8, so the #8 ranking might not have been accurate, either. Chalk it up to the rankings being inconsistent.)
But yeah, great matches coming up. I won't put rankings because I know Leon hates when other people spoil things (and also because they aren't finalized yet), but it seems like every day has multiple battles between top-35 games. (35 being the number of games currently receiving votes.)
Day 55: Super Mario Bros. 3 vs. Super Mario 64 and Paper Mario vs. Star Fox 64. Day 56: Metal Gear Solid 3 vs. Metal Gear Solid 2 and Super Mario World vs. Super Mario Galaxy Day 57: Ocarina of Time vs. Majora's Mask and Super Mario World 2 vs. Donkey Kong Country 2 (and while those two will probably be the headliners, Metroid Prime vs. Wind Waker and MGS1 vs. MGS4 aren't exactly bad matches, either) Day 58: Final Fantasy X vs. Okami and Brawl vs. Twilight Princess (though I'm more interested in FE7 vs. Mother 3, Goldeneye vs. SotN, and Tales of Symphonia vs. TTYD) Day 59: Only Super Metroid vs. FFVI meets the "both games receiving votes" criteria, though it's especially interesting because they appear to be headed for consecutive rankings, but there's a fairly obvious second headliner in Mega Man 2 vs. Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Day 60: When you have #1 vs. #2, you don't need a second headliner...which is good because the only other remotely interesting things going on there are matchups of games that have been equal in how bad they are.
(Speaking of which, I was confused before; the game ALttP beat last week wasn't even the good Dragon Quest game. It beat DQV; the one that has a decent record but isn't receiving Top 25 consideration is DQVIII.)

CT is #1 with a bullet now. Very tight race for #2 now, and RE caught up to MGS3 this week, for some reason. Big logjam in the 11-14 range, too.
Wow. I am only just now noticing this. Here's what I had.
396 - Chrono Trigger 342 - Super Mario Bros. 3 342 - The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past 339 - Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow 323 - Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater 323 - Resident Evil 4 298 - Super Mario 64 258 - Super Smash Bros. Melee 255 - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 248 - Super Mario World 190 - Paper Mario 189 - Metal Gear Solid 187 - Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials & Tribulations 184 - Final Fantasy X 164 - Super Mario Galaxy 2 155 - Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney 124 - Metroid Prime 110 - Super Metroid 103 - Super Mario Galaxy 98 - Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island 69 - Final Fantasy VI 68 - Super Smash Bros. Brawl 63 - Portal 61 - Final Fantasy IX 57 - Mega Man 2
With all of the "also receiving votes" coming out the same as Leon's. While the differences are most striking on a few particular games (Ocarina, SMW1, and PW1 were the three with huge differences, although PW3's small difference is notable because it's the difference between 11th and 13th), it all adds up to a 10-point differential. Kind of makes me wish I wasn't the type that always has to add the totals up for myself throughout the voting, even though I remember some comments that showed that I'm not the only one. (red sox 777 made a comment two weeks ago pointing out something in the voting topic, right? I figure it must've been two weeks ago because I think it was CT, SM64, and RBY in a tight battle for first at the time.)
