Ed Bellis posted... Didn't you say the DK Rap wasn't actually a joke song and tried to make some weird postmodern commentary about it? If I'm right, please repeat this commentary immediately.
Yes, I did say something along the lines of that. It was part of an essay I did for a music history class. Unfortunately, that was done on my old laptop that busted this past August. However, I might still have a physical copy of it since I usually do keep essays that receive I receive As for or personally love

I'm enjoying this list so far. I'm sad "Danger" is so low despite understanding the criticisms and I'm still perplexed by the mass dislike "Escape From the City" and "Live and Learn" garner yet DK Rap's so well-taken. I doubt I ever will. To each his own. But I'm enjoying the list.

So weve cornered Andy and Kyle in the Swarts stairwell and then this guy comes out of NO WHERE like ****ing Batman or something. ; ExTha is the man
I was going to whine about Genesis (it doesn't deserve to be that low >_>) or Paja #Misya (though I'll freely admit to be one of maybe three people on this board who like it), but instead I'll just grumble over Ai no Uta.
Anyways, tag.

Anyway after these songs we should finally be reaching simply lmao territory as opposed to the ****ING bad zone.
Also from post onward for a while a lot of the songs may seem like in a weird order but it was more like I decided to be more careless in rakning these songs since they're just in the what ever category for the most part.

You were doing so well until this past string of songs. Forest Temple, Wild West, Esper Battle, and Ballad of the Wind Fish would finish a lot higher in my list

It's just hard to imagine people saying, "Oh yeah, I enjoy listening to Forest Temple. Great song. I just really enjoy listening to the same two sounds repeat themselves over and over again."

Oh boy Leon, you would absolutely love Brian Eno's Thursday Afternoon or Neroli. Some music just isn't supposed to be attention-getting - most is or tries to be, but ambient music is SUPPOSED to stick to the background. It's all about setting a mood instead of evoking feelings or making you think about how cool the melody is, and Forest Temple does its job nicely.
It warms my heart to see touhou garbage so low! So much so that I am posting again. I mostly agree with your rankings with one or two exceptions that I will admit are acquired tastes.
I will admit that if you haven't played Ocarina of Time, it would be hard to like the song because that isn't its purpose. However, knowing where it comes from in-context can give you a much different perspective on it.

but a principle I have is to listen to a song without context because to me a song is only good to listen to on it's own merits not on when/where it plays in-game

The low placements of Banson's Aria and Deadman's Gun is going too far now (please note that I will likely be saying things along the lines of this every time you put a favorite or nom of mine)

None of my favorites have shown up yet. Hoping to see Reach for the Moon soon. It's the only touhou song that I've heard and actually dislike (as opposed to be indifferent to/not care about one way or another)

Well, I think that was one of my favorite songs in the contest. And yes, the remix is good but I give the tip to the original.
Not going to bother going into my rationale as to why this song is so treasured by me since that's not the point of this topic, per se. Just making a note is all.

I enjoy Forest Temple, but can't stand most Touhou or Motoi Sakuraba. They're clearly opposites though, one keeps things light and gets by with very few sounds, while the other just piles on sounds and rhythms.
