I love Extend Ash. I just don't get the melody of RftM. It sounds incredibly bland to me and really does nothing for me. In any music of any kind I listen to, I can feel certain things in it. The sound paints a picture and tells a story. RftM is just one of those pieces that really doesn't do anything. It doesn't feel inspired and it doesn't bring words to my mind to define someone or something that it represents. In a song I really like, all kinds of thoughts can flood my mind when I listen to it, but RftM is just sort of there. It's like "hey, I'm here..." I suppose it's effective though, considering it just feels like it fades into the background and is quickly no longer noticed, which is probably character-accurate... but then it's all "pay attention to me?" but not with any sort of feeling or passion. It's just sort of "there." Music speaks and RftM really doesn't have much to say... As for Last Remote, it's mid-tier for me. I didn't care for it at first, but started liking it more because it effectively captured both winter and the intensity of an extra stage. Also Koishi is one of my favorite bosses in the series (even though I've never faced her or even unlocked SA's extra >_>). Some of those spellcards are incredible in their ingenuity. Hartmann's Youkai Girl is a really good theme too. (another bizzarre Caelus drunk-rant I know. Whatever. It took a while but I was able to resolve my problem and continue from where I'm REALLY at. I have changed the numbers to the correct ones on the Wiki Page. 318.Now You're A Hero (Now You’re A Hero) Appeared in: VGMC2 A pretty cool vocal that does a good job of congratulating the player for beating the WHOLE DAMN GAME. 317.Checker Knights (Kirby Air Ride) Appeared in: VGMC5 A cool energetic Kirby song with dat trumpet and other neat orchestra instruments. 316.Blinded by Light (Final Fantasy XIII) Appeared in: VGMC4 The only ‘regular’ battle theme in the series that I actually like. Much more interesting melody than most and the violin does some cool things in this. 315.Sonic Boom Closing (Sonic CD) Appeared in: VGMC4 I like this version a bit more at the moment but you can’t go wrong with either. But yeah what sets this and the opening verison from other Sonic vocal songs is like th3l3fty said recently “the vocals are much more pleasing to the ear”. Most other songs are either way too cheesy or have bad instrumentation/singers/melodies but I think both Sonic Booms encompass what Sonic vocal songs should try to do. 314.Heavenly Flight (Dragon Quest VIII) Appeared in: VGMC4 The only Dragon Quest song I’ve heard that I actually think is good. The build-up is nice and when the violin starts the main part of the song I think the song stays consistently interesting the rest of the way. 313.Factory Investigation (Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards) Appeared in: VGMC2 A pretty catchy Kirby song I’ve always thought was cool stuff. The instrumentation is quite a bit unique and does a bunch of interesting things. 312.Song 5 (Bust-A-Move 2) Appeared in: VGMC3 One of the main draws of Bust-A-Move besides the kinda addicting gameplay is the equally kinda addicting/catchy music that plays in every stage. An orchestra covering Gourmet Race is kinda cool but not AMAZING. 310.Professor Layton's Theme (Professor Layton 1) Appeared in: VGMC3 A pretty cool with a nice mix of piano and violin and whatever that other instrument is. 309.Angel's Fear (Secret of Mana) Appeared in: VGMC1, 3, 4, 5 A pretty cool title theme. Gradually gets more upbeat and cooler. 308.The Landing (Final Fantasy VIII) Appeared in: VGMC4 A song that feels pretty similar to Opening Bombing Mission with the slow build up into a cool fast-paced melody. I like the build-up a bit more than Bombing Mission. 307.The Place Where Wishes Come True II (Clannad) Appeared in: VGMC5 A pretty emotional song, one that could pull your heart strings even if you haven’t seen the anime or read the visual novel. Catchy stuff fo sho. 303.Metal Gear Saga (Metal Gear Solid 4) Appeared in: VGMC4 You guys want some REAL Metal Gear Solid Main Theme action? Come to listen to this song right heerrree. Unlike the other 3 songs this song unleashes it’s goods from the get go and barely lets up. There’s a little bit of downtime but it easily picks back up. Just like every main theme in the series the best part is the last minute ‘breakdown’ part, though I guess for this song it’s the last 2 minutes. 302.Moon over the Castle (Gran Turismo 4) Appeared in: VGMC3 This might be a weird complaint, but I think the vocals and the way beginning and end of the song are a little more ‘distracting’ for going too over the top and going in and out of the main part of the song is weird. Even so the main part of the song is still cool. 301.Floater Land (Super Mario Galaxy) Appeared in: VGMC2, ToC(lost to Din Don Dan Dan Fo) A Mario Galaxy song I admit I didn’t like at first but I’ve grown to like it a bit. Still shouldn’t have retired imo. 300.Metal Man (Mega Man 2) Appeared in: VGMC3 A pretty cool Mega Man song. Yup. 299.Dream Chaser (F-Zero X) Appeared in: VGMC4 A pretty cool ROCKIN’ song from the F-Zero series. 298.Lil' Bonus Room (Skullmonkeys) Appeared in: VGMC1 This song is weird and silly but still catchy and cool. Just DON’T BE FRIGHTENED 297.Zen (Aeropolis) (F-Zero GX) Appeared in: VGMC5 Another cool F-Zero song. 296.The Machine (Ecco the Dolphin) Appeared in: VGMC2, 3 This guy should put The Machine in his tags so this song can be easier to find. (Ar Tonelico II) Appeared in: VGMC5 A pretty cool hymn song. Yup. 288.Bell of Judgment (One Piece: Grand Battle 2) Appeared in: VGMC4 A pretty cool song from a game based on an anime. Color me surprised. 287.Battle with Gilgamesh (Final Fantasy V) Appeared in: VGMC1, ToC(lost to MGS2 Theme) Quite the popular theme. While not my top favorite FF boss song or anything, it’s still a pretty cool battle song. 286.The Ocean (EVO: The Search for Eden) Appeared in: VGMC3 Another song that has a cool melody as well as being kinda atmospheric. 285.Zain, the Floating Continet (Soma Bringer) Appeared in: VGMC2 Yasunori Mitsuda can do wrong…. Is what I wish I could say. Anyway nice calming song. 284.The Normandy Reborn (Mass Effect 2) Appeared in: VGMC4 I consider this somewhat of a ‘lesser’ Suicide Mission. It kinda does the same thing of having some cool build-up and a good main part, but both are just pretty good. 283.Cotton Island (Plok!) Appeared in: VGMC3 These contests need more Plok! Love. Michiko Naruke once again uses her amazing instrumentation, mixes the song up a bit to be a little unique compared to the original and eventually gets to the MEAT of the song around a minute song where the real cool stuff happens. Pretty much the only worthy song to be played on the DK stage in Brawl, and god I can’t believe this song was wasted on such a bad stage. 267.Poo (Conker’s Bad Fur Day) Appeared in: VGMC2 One of the most hilarious yet awesome vocal songs I’ve ever heard.
