No, some people definitely counterpicking (or at least trying to). The worst is when they hover over Elena or something then immediately rush towards Ken/Chun/Ryu/Akuma/Yun after I select. It's like...I was gonna pick Dudley no matter what, guys.

No, the best thing to do is hold down and watch the cursor surf across the icons until they get annoyed enough to pick someone.

looks like no one will be playing Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection. Only MK1's online seems fine. MK2 and MK3 are so slow it makes every other fighter's online seem flawless

Never played a MK game, but from what I've heard the earlier installments basically get by on nostalgia and are kinda bad at being actual fighting games?

MK2 and UMK3 are fun games, but if you're looking for a "serious" fighter, then this series isn't for you anyway.

Yeah, 1 is full of hilarious lol stupidity but has a certain charm

2 is actually fun, just still imba and still has some of the stupid.

MK3 is weird, MK3 itself wasnt that good but UMK3 did something that made it good. Still imba though and still has some lame stuff in it.

when I play I hover over Chun then go pick Elena! it's awesome.

The first two definitely rely on nostalgia and gore to please. Although some people will argue that 2 is good on its own merits.

UMK3 is good, though. Not many people actually try to take it seriously because of the stigma around the series, but most of the people who do are like "Whoa, this is great!"

Also in 3SO you should just hover over Sean until your opponent picks.

It's not, because you can see the other person's icon in the character select screen in 3SO.

Hugo only has one positive match up in the entire game and it's against SEAN. The rest of his match ups are either 2-8, 3-7 or 4-6.

That's really disheartening but I think I'm going to stick with him.

I'm trying to learn kara throws to use Q better. I read up on the concept online, but are you supposed to hit the normal and throw buttons at the same time, or use the normal slightly before? It sounds like you cancel the normal into the throw, but I never really get that to work but pressing them all at the same time seems to do it.

I believe it's supposed to be near instantaneous to the point that you don't even see the normal come out. Your character just jumps forward and grabs. Input the normal immediately before the grab.

So as much as I'm loving Hugo I feel like I might have to drop him because I can't do SPDs on a reliable basis. I was okay in SSF4 with grapplers because of the shortcuts but 360 inputs on pad are a pain in the ass. I suppose I'll just keep practicing
