Season 3, Episode 3: Faith, Hope and Trick

And now we get introduced to one of the main villains, which is nice. Trick seems charismatic enough for me to enjoy him, though I still need to see him in action a little more.

I'm not sure how I feel about Faith. She rubbed me the wrong way here to start, to the point where I almost preferred Kendra. Almost. Her character seems a little forced, too. Hopefully Eliza Dushku will slide a little more comfortably into the role. Faith and Buffy create an interesting dynamic, and it's also interesting to see how Buffy was the immature one in the Buffy-Kendra pairing, and now Buffy is the mature one in the Buffy-Faith pairing.

Also, welcome back Angel, I guess. I'll look forward to hearing that one explained, and hopefully it's nothing along the lines of "your love brought me back."

I did enjoy the episode. Quality has been pretty consistent so far, which I like, and it's all been overarching, which I also like. Hopefully this doesn't mean a string of MotW episodes are coming up soon. I don't hate MotW episodes, but I don't like when I get really invested into the main plot and then it's segmented by a random monster. I don't blame the writers, though. These MotW episodes are necessary.

As for the stuff in dead mans party, both sides were right and wrong. I don't think one side was being "more of a jerk". They both had reasons for feeling the way they felt, and both could have handled things better. You can't just up and leave, without saying anything, and expect everyone to be okay with that or understand your situation. And while maybe her friends were a little harsh, it is best that they get their feelings out, and it isn't like they stop being her friend. That is how real friendships work.

Season 3, Episode 4: Beauty and the Beasts

This was a very violent episode. It was also a good one. It was fun watching all these beasts running around ****ing **** up. The end with everyone beating up everyone was well done, too. Well written episode.

I kind of liked Platte, so I'm sad to see him go so soon. The bringing back of Angel was done well, though. I liked the explanation with the demon world, and how we actually knew some about it from the season premiere. How well done. And hey, I may get my hope of Angel keeping his violent tendencies, so that's neat!

The addressing of Werewolf Oz is nice, but I'm not sure how much longer they can keep at it. I have to assume a cure episode will be on its way, or a death one. I'd be happy with either, probably. I've grown to like Oz more, but he's still sort of expendable to me, kind of like how I viewed Miss Calendar. Still, in just four episodes I've grown to like him more than Willow already. I'd prefer if he got a non-death ending I guess. Ideally he gets cured and rides off into the sunset at some point during the season.

This episode did a good job of mixing MotW with main story arc. Hopefully a lot of MotW episodes are like this.

I'm a little worried going into Season Six. I heard it drops in quality, but heres hoping I still enjoy it.

Oz is great man, and so is Willow, you'll like them more and more, I hope.

Quick question, I don't want to interrupt the flow of this topic or anything, but Buffy has been making a lot of references to.. that other Buffyverse show. Is it worth it to watch?

I kinda of liked Kendra, but it was okay to see her go. I sure liked her a lot better than Faith tho, but I guess you weren't really supposed to like Faith. Were you? XD

Some people actually like Seasons 6 and 7 more than the rest of the show. Those people are crazy but they do exist. Either way though there are two amazing episodes in Season 6 that make everything worth it. *removed for minor spoiler*

Angel (Zazi knows about it so you don't have to avoid the name) is a good show though I don't like it as much as most. It is more dark and serious and often has more of a detective/mystery show vibe to it. I also think the season arcs for a couple of seasons are horrendous, but episode to episode it is still worth watching without a doubt.

A lot of people think it is as good or better than Buffy, so yeah you should check it out and decide for yourself.

Faith is one of my favorite characters in the entire Buffyverse.

I didn't mean that anyone who likes the season is crazy, I like the season. I actually found that I enjoyed Season 7 a lot more watching it on DVDs where I could marathon. To many people introduced to keep up with when you only see one episode a week. I meant that the people who think seasons 6 and 7 are the best seasons of Buffy are crazy (though obviously this is my opinion so whatever).

I like every season of Buffy, there is a reason it is my second favorite show of all time.

I really thought this episode was great. I loved the parallel it had going on. There were three men, all of them in love, and all of them are beasts. But they were quite different, emphasized by Giles' quote about how he thinks there are two kinds of monsters.

Good decisions were made with the script in Season 2, that's for sure.

I actually watched this episode last night, but didn't feel like writing so I decided to wait until the morning to do it.

Season 3, Episode 5: Homecoming

I haven't addressed Scott, yet, but that's because I don't really have an opinion on him. He's kind of bland right now. Hopefully he has a deep, dark secret or something coming along. Or is he a callback of sorts? I feel like they mentioned him as having been encountered earlier when the offered him as a potential love interest. Was he a member of the swim team? Anyways, I'm glad they didn't really go full force with a Buffy-Scott relationship, though it'd be interesting to see what happens regarding Angel if that did come to be.

I liked this episode. For one, watching Sarah Michelle Geller and Charisma Carpenter march around in formal wear was pretty fantastic. But the plot was pretty nifty as well. They could have actually given a little more screen time to Slayerfest in my opinion, because it seemed like the conclusion came much too quickly. It was nice seeing the Gorch vampire again. Hopefully he's like a reoccurring Mid-Boss, or something.

Addressing the Xander-Willow happenings, I actually liked how they played out. It seemed liked something that could naturally happen, and both actors did very well in the scene. I like a Xander-Willow couple better than Xander-Cordelia or Willow-Oz anyways.

The Mayor is oozing potential. I can't wait to find out more of what his deal is, and how Trick is involved.

Season 3, Episode 6: Band Candy

This was a fun episode. I always enjoy watching people act completely out of character, and this one had a wealth of that, most entertainingly Giles and Snyder. Also, Ethan might be one of my favorite reoccurring characters. I just love his Neutral Evil alignment. I hope he gets a big role in a story arc at some point.

They could've held back on the Xander-Willow stuff a little bit. It seemed a little over the top, though I liked the "Wanna swap?" line when Willow was looking at Xander and Oz.

The Mayor is still great, and I'll look forward to a Buffy-Trick showdown. Disappointing was the dispatching of Larconis. It was a similar deal as what happened in Reptile Boy in season 2. The monster was never a threat at all and it makes me wonder why it ever deserved a tribute in the first place. Ahh well.

Season 3, Episode 7: Revelations

This was a pretty good episode, up until the resolution. Cutting off the arm is a brilliant idea, but doing it by throwing a piece of glass with enough accuracy and force to slice it clean off? M'kay...right. Aside from that, they did a really good job of making me uncertain of whether Gwendolyn Post was going good or bad, and I was going back and forth until the reveal. I enjoyed Lagos being used as a decoy.

The encounters between the gang and Buffy and Angel were pretty well done. Both sides have valid arguments. I was hoping Angel would do more to redeem himself of sorts, but I guess saving Willow was enough for now.

Faith is just okay right now. I haven't really grown attached to her at all yet. There's just something about troubled past that leads to trust issues that just doesn't hook me. Hopefully it gets expanded upon more. The fight between her and Buffy was pretty interesting. A part of me thinks that won't be the last time they square off, and I hope I'm not wrong.

Some comments on the season, I've really enjoyed how these first seven episodes have all been important to the overarching plot. I love continuity in shows, and this season is really providing upon that, allowing every episode to build upon each other. I don't expect this to keep up, but I'll enjoy it while it lasts. Sadly, Netflix has a new layout that previews the next episode while the credits of the one you just watched are rolling. The preview of the next episodes had a picture of Spike, so I don't get to be pleasantly surprised going into the next one. Lame.

They're often detrimental, in fact <.<

I never watch previews anymore unless it's like, something I already know what will happen in (like, say, Game of Thrones, since I've read the books).

There are some good previews that trick you into thinking one thing and then BAM plot twist (IIRC, Supernatural did this a few times...), but they're few and far between and generally not worth sitting through the spoilerific/bad ones for.
