Our Heroes:
John Egbert, Pesterchum nickname ectoBiologist. The main character of the story, and lover of terrible movies.

Dave Strider, Pesterchum nickname turntechGodhead. A cool dude among cool dudes and master of beats and rhymes.
Jade Harley, Pesterchum nickname gardenGnostic. A cheerful, optimistic gal with strange hunches and insights, as well as a narcolepsy problem.

Oh man, and I JUST read this in a note on page 37 of the book (referencing pages 1790-1792)- "I think a lot of readers have been disappointed that John's peanut allergy never had significant consequences in the story later. Still, as of writing this note, the story isn't finished, so..."
One of the cons of reading so much fanfiction is that for as much use and development as some authors give canonically doomed characters, it's when you get back to the source material that you realize, "oh wait, in canon that character was... =("

I agree. Hussie is definitely a pro in that regard. The more recent character list where he crossed off all of the dead characters shows the scale in which he is willing to kill off characters regardless of how popular or unpopular they may be with the fans. I'll admit though that it's fun sometimes seeing the reaction videos of people upset or even crying when they realize their favorite character(s) was (were) killed.

Hussie understands that you have to be willing to kill off some characters to raise the stakes and build tension. I think he's made it very clear that absolutely no one in the story is safe (maybe the original kids, but maybe not!) so you actually get a sense that s*** matters.
Hussie understands that sometimes you kneed to crack a few eggs to make the story batter. To roll the story along, letting the breadth of the story rise. Dough you understand where he is coming from? At yeast some people get to live!

I'm beginning to wonder if there might be two Betty Crockers, one from each timeline. We've already established that the Alpha!cast has the same origin as the Beta!cast, just shifted about because of the scratch; there's nothing to say this couldn't happen with somebody else entering the Human!Universe.
Hmm, if this is true, it means you could effectively duplicate something by pushing it into another universe with a split timeline.

Thinking it over some more, I'd say this is exactly what's happened -- it explains why the "new" black queen and Alpha!Betty Crocker seem to have opposing goals -- the former wants the kids to play, the latter is trying to sabotage their efforts before the game even starts -- even though the clues say they should be the same person.
Well, that's my take on it; we'll see how things develop, of course

What do you base this on? AFAIK, the only things to enter the Human!Universe from the outside (as opposed to another timeline within the same universe) are the Beta!Meteors and Betty Crocker.

I say it's quite the opposite; it didn't say where she disappeared to, only that she disappeared. If the bunny can jump across timelines, why not a person? If Grandpa Harley can enter the session before it even starts, why not somebody else? It's totally possible for a person in one timeline to end up in the session of another without going through paradox space.

I don't think that's how the Scratch works. The Scratch reset the properties of the human universe, and remember, Betty Crocker is native to the troll universe. She probably would have been erased completely, like (presumably) the kids would have been had they stayed in their session.

That would still make it the same Betty Crocker, as it was the same bunny. I'm not sure I get the point you are going for.

I think Jake is really just not dead at all. CD messed up and fed him circus peanuts and Jake is just asleep like normal. Even when they said he was dead, it's not like we could actually tell if he was dead or just asleep (since like John he has not awakened on Prospit yet), so I'll bet the whole thing was a misdirection.
So I found out that Netflix has Little Monsters on instant today. Unfortunately, I was with a bunch of people who don't read Homestuck. I need to watch that unbelievable pile of s*** all the way through.
