Equius behind Karkat/Terezi/Vriska? Fine, I can see that. They are pretty much the main characters after all. It's like liking Junpei over Shinjiro, not "acceptable" but reasonable in its own way.

Equius behind Eridan/Gamzee? Again, I can sort of see why. These are, after all, the villainous trolls so to speak. Equius is objectively a better character than these two, but it's not entirely offensive.

Equius behind Kanaya/Sollux? These two characters are so bland their blood may as well be beige-colored. They're not distinct like Equius, but maybe their bland nature is in-offensive. Surely, Equius can be off-putting at first, and this could propel someone to put the less memorable characters ahead of him.

Equius behind Tavros? Tavros is lovable in some way because he is so pathetic. While Equius has his faults, they may be harder to sympathize with. So while I do not like this, I can once again surmise a reason to do it.

But, Equius behind Nepeta? No, no. There is no logical way she is better than Equius. It is not possible nor defendable in any way. The only good thing about Nepeta is what she does in favor of Equius, how she helps better characterize him. She is nothing on her own.

As long as I took the time to read other people's rankings, I'll go ahead and give mine. I don't usually like giving them because my tastes often change daily based on my mood, but unless some major event happens in the story, this is generally close to how I feel most of the time:

Vriska -> Karkat -> Terezi -> Aradia (post S Wake) -> Gamzee** (post-rage) -> Kanaya -> Tavros -> Equius* -> Nepeta -> Sollux -> Eridan -> Feferi

*Equius used to follow Nepeta on the list, but then he took an arrow to the knee. Yes, I'm being serious. You will rarely see someone get to use that meme honestly and in a context that works.

**Gamzee went up from his previous position between Nepeta and Equius after "from your veins will drip my miracles." That single line is one of my favorites in the entire series.

Note that I used arrows instead of just > for that. In my case, I'm not really sold on saying that any are greater than any others right now since it's dynamic even for me. Instead, those are just the ones I tend to find most interesting at any given time. Being low on the list doesn't even mean that I dislike the character more than just not really caring too much about them. Interestingly, this list is almost in the exact same order that I even remembered the trolls while typing their names on notepad to make sure I remembered to use them all. When I was finished and realized that I only had 11 troll names, it took a minute of going through what I remembered to the zodiac to realize that I was missing Sollux (forgetting about him almost entirely) in spite of having just read posts about him.

While I don't really dislike Sollux, I just find him forgettable in spite of some utility plot relevance that keeps him a little higher on the list. As stated above, I even forgot about him when trying to remember all of the trolls. While he gets (surprisingly more than I expected) some love on this board, Eridan just annoys me. Still, he holds at least some relevance and does get some characterization, so he doesn't hit last on the list. Feferi on the other hand was just another character that didn't really try too hard to interest me to the point that I just didn't care about her too much. The most interesting thing she did was corpsesmooch another character that also didn't interest me very much. While I didn't forget about her the way I did Sollux, that's only because she's so notably boring for me that I make a point to try and not forget that she exists.

Really, what did the other four ancestors actually do? And Redglare's ranked that low because all she ever did was prove Mindfang's superiority.
