Good games!

Feel like the switch to the PS3 is easier than ever these days. Our connections make it unplayable, and there doesn't seem to be a real player base here outside of you and weaku!

I probably won't buy a PS3

as far as I can tell the PS3 userbase here isn't active, and while the game is fun enough I don't like it enough to buy for another console. if the online play is usually worse on PSN that would only exacerbate our connection problems. so I'd pretty much be buying a PS3 (and stick) to play icon at 3s maybe. and unless icon is gonna play regularly and is really good at 3s, doesn't sound worth it!

my friend has a better connection than I do. might ask him if I can try it out at his apartment and see if that makes our connection woes any better. if so, might be worth it to upgrade to what he's got. if not, then I'll know that distance our big barrier and that there's probably no fix!

Yeah, I wouldn't buy one just to play this game. Much better system overall, but for one or two games would be iffy, especially SFxT and 3S.

So anyone see Capcom's stream where they showed off the new method of gem selection? Apparently it's not fast at all, and for some reason they dropped the USB idea or something. I haven't watched it yet but it sounded like it was pretty bad.

I have not had much time to play in the last week, but I think I will try to play tonight. I have not done pair play yet, so I think I will try doing that with a randy in ranked.

I am bad at this game so I'm a bad person to ask for advice

but since you asked

standing fierce and fireball a lot. that's pretty much it. if you think they won't anti air you you can jump in with fierce x2. if it hits then you can immediately combo into launcher combo. if it doesn't, you can mix up with either standing jabs or throw. or just fierce more.

I know it sounds basic and pretty braindead, and it is! I wouldn't call my Chun play high level.

played some 3s ranked tonight, only lost one game. feels great to win in ranked, that doesn't always happen in sfxt!

but I'd like to address an epidemic

wakeup shoryu and random shoryu. this stuff is better in sf4 and sfxt I think. it's defensible. at least the wakeup one. sometimes you just know the other guy is gonna push buttons and pressure you on wakeup and you just gotta shoryuken to make him respect you. cool and good and I ain't gonna hassle you.

but in 3S, there's a particular type of player. shoryu on wakeup frequently, no matter how many times you punish. random shoryu from midscreen. if there is an opportunity to shoryuken he will take it.

I offer as an example this game from my ranked matches this morning:



after the second shoryuken I said "oh one of those." these people do not learn from being punished, they do not learn ever. they see you within half a screen on their wakeup and they automatically input the srk command. we must put a stop to these people. for their own good.

also, I played a bit more Chun against my real life friend. those are always fun. I had just played Makoto against him and he was trying to teach me that Makoto is an easy character to win with, so I said "fine beat my Chun."



matches against her can get ugly quick. there's a reason I don't play her online! Chun is a destroyer of worlds.
