so I think I just ran a set against one of the Family Fun Arcade 3s regulars. name is the same anyway. I'm asking on the 3s SRK boards if it's the same guy. he had a ridiculous Urien and the set was a blast. I might upload those, some killer stuff happened and they're definitely the highest level games I've been involved in so far.

I made a topic a couple days back about having a bad Wii CCP and planning on exchanging it

well turns out the new one has the exact same problem, basically that doing a quarter circle right seems to ghost an up-right that you never pushed. this is easiest to test by hooking up the controller to a copy of SF2 and trying to throw low tiger shots with Sagat. if your controller functions anything like mine, you will get tiger knees half the time.

finding a controller to use with my computer is kind of frustrating! every possible controller and adapter I go through has some kind of issue.

oh yeah, definitely. I use stick exclusively for everything except 3S, where I'm still transitioning off pad because my stick execution still isn't where I want it to be. More and more I've just been playing on stick in that game as well and I think I'll be stick only within a month.

But I like using fighting games for testing dpad response, since you won't find many better ways to do that. It's not a huge deal since I play FGs on stick anyway and for everything else it doesn't seem to be a problem, I'm just being a little over-sensitive I suspect. But it'd still be nice if it wasn't an issue! The Wii CCPs are ideal in every other way, after all. Decent sticks, nice buttons, and the adapter to PC doesn't lag at all as far as I can tell. this weird dpad ghosting issue that only happens on some of the controllers is my only complaint. if I can get it resolved I'll be a happy camper.

Are fight sticks really that much better?

I'm trying to actually get good at SSFIV now, and I keep thinking in the back of my head that "maybe it's the pad" when I have difficulty pulling things off.

I personally find it easier to do some "advanced" stuff on stick. kara throwing is way easier on stick for example.

I'm not huge into the execution-heavy SSF4 stuff but I think zfs was sying FADC is harder on pad too.

also I can't do 360s on pad at all, stick it's much easier.

if I hadn't already bought a 360 I'd buy a PS3 now

I only went with 360 because people were complaining that 3S had more input lag on PS3. which later turned out to be bogus so that sucks. paying for online is pretty silly.

Yeah, I'm not someone who believes everything should be free or anything, but that kinda irritated me just now. It's like, there's no reason for online multiplayer not to be free. You can put apps behind Gold or whatever, but let me play SF4 without a fee. That's one nice thing about the PS3. Online always free, extra free stuff with a subscription.

part 10 seems to have disappeared into the netherrealm of the internet. in any case, we played 12 games and the final score was him 7, me 5. there's a couple cool games mixed in there, he definitely highlights Urien's ability to take half your life for making one mistake.
