also there's a lot of options on GGPO if people don't hate emulation. SFA2 and A3, several KOF games, a couple Samurai Shodowns, Vampire Savior, and Garou. playing on PC solves the "we're split between two consoles" problem as well.

How is the online?

oh I actually have no idea. I like KoF 13 as an idea and from what I've played it seems pretty fun. but I haven't spent much time with the game and I've spent zero time online.

also I don't hate MK9, as whack as that game is

outside of KOF13 and MK9 though, I'm not sure if anything else fits the bill. Most of my favorite FGs are Street Fighter-related anyway!

To be fair I don't know much about [KOFXIII] yet, but... what makes this game special, really? It just feels like yet another minor re-arrangement of all of the same crap we've been doing since like the mid-90s. There's just SO MUCH inherent complexity, SO MUCH arbitrary information you just have to learn if you want to play well. Memorizing a bunch of combos, moves, exceptions about "when what has priority over what"... to me these kinds of flat "fact-memorizations" should not be what a game should be about. For this reason, Smash Brothers is my favorite fighter ever created (and Yomi is probably 2nd).

I have a high skepticism for 3D fighters but if you guys want to do that I might tag along

for Brawl I gotta see if I can play online. I did a lot of weird stuff to my Wii to play Brawl+, not sure if that prevents me from playing online or not.

I've actually done well with solo Parasoul, but I feel vulnerable without assists. No one has punished me for lack of assists yet though, so it might be all in my head.

My three-team strategy so far has been

Valentine on point. Heavy projectile assist.
Use Parasoul/Fillia assists to create space.
Fill syringe with hit-stun poison.
Tag Valentine out for Parasoul.
Wait to strike.

That hit-stun poison is ridiculous, and Para destroys people when it's in effect. But I think I've actually had more success with solo Para. Para goes down way too easy with three characters, and it's hard to create space for Valentine effectively without Fillia in there.
