Important question, need a second opinion or two. Would you include John Silver amongst a ranking of the Disney villains or not?

IIRC, he's more of an antihero than a villain.

But I haven't seen.that movie in ages and I have no plans to see it again soon.

I found it quite good actually, though of course the Treasure Island story doesn't change much via incarnation but it was enjoyable.

He served as the main antagonist through the entire film, the problem is my opinion will be largely based on his good qualities rather than his evil ones. Most lists of villains do include him, but I think that's just because the film really has no other villain. My ranking topic does plan to include reformed villains, the problem being that Silver is one that reforms by the movies end and there's a question the entire time whether he really will go through with his evil plot.

Anyway, Meet the Robinsons tomorrows.

So after having watched that and Treasure Planet back to back.

What the hell was Disney thinking with the neurotic robots in the 2000s?! Good lord BEN and Carl are two of the worst characters ever.

It doesn't seem like a really bad sequel would be able to retroactively remove enjoyment from the original...

I mean Hunchback of Notre Dame is still effing amazing to me and its sequel, well.... let us not speak of such evil things ever again. Same with Pocahontas: Journey to the New World even though the first movie wasn't all that great...

I just don't like seeing characters I loved from the Original in awful movies that have them being lame or whatever.

I dunno, I just think some things are better left untouched. At least with Disney since they don't get sequels right very often at all.

*shrugs* I might see it then. It's not even just Disney Sequels, it's everything. I always have a bad attitude going into sequels (unless I've seen great previews or something) just because of what other movies have done.

Sometimes sequels do wonders for characters. Iago was fantastic in all three Aladdin movies, for example. They really evolved his personality and made him discover just what he was all about.

While they are enjoyable in their way, the Brother Bear films suffer a bit without a single true villain. I've always found Disney movies can often be judged on how good of a villain they possess, as all of the most popular films have an iconic villain to go along with them (usually).

In the end it's a sweet little sequel, I wouldn't say it should offend anyone that loved the original. Koda at times I found rather brat-like in this particular one, but I don't think you ought to take my advice on characters you like anyway Ermine >_>

From Netflix: Shipping update
Dear charon,

Home on the Range was not available from your local shipping center. Fortunately, it was available from a shipping center in another part of the country. It's on its way and should arrive within 3 to 5 days.

You'll notice we also recently sent the next available DVD from your Queue to enjoy while Home on the Range makes its way to you.

Your Queue now shows this extra DVD rental. Enjoy.

–The Netflix Team

Damn, Home on the Range really popular I guess! Can't keep that DVD in stock... Fantasia 2000 tomorrow as the substitute then. I will also maybe be watching Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas after work. This one's on Youtube so if Gen or anyone wants to join me for it that could be cool. I'd like to rank Pete on my list somewhere, somehow. It will just be difficult given the number of appearances he makes in various things and the differing nature of his character from time to time.
