I'd like to get at least a handful of these 2000s movies characters in the next contest, they don't really deserve to be shut out entirely (especially given some of the unnecessary stuff that's in already).

Lion King-ish yeah. I liked it. I guess Aladar might not be cute and cuddly enough in appearance to make any decent runs in the contest.

Oh cool. I watched Dinosaur earlier as well. Wasn't fond of it though. Kinda felt like a less interesting version of Tarzan to me.

It wasn't all that good, but it definitely was not as terrible as some of you guys in Doc's topic were making it out to be. The soundtrack was nice, the visual effects were stunning (Disney put a lot of effort into making it feel real and by god, it showed), and the plot was passable if not original.

The characters are kind of an issue. Zini is terrible (bottom of the barrel material there), Yar is kind of hard to relate to, Suri is there, and the protagonist and dueteragonist are essentially Mr. and Mrs. Gary Stu. Plio I liked because she reminded me of Kala, and I liked Kala a lot. Kron is a decent antagonist, but Bruton I didn't quite buy. The shining stars of this movie imo were Eema and Baylene (and Plio who I already mentioned).

So I basically had the exact opposite problem with this movie's characters as I did with Tarzan in that the supporting cast was compelling and the main characters kind of blew. Meanwhile Tarzan and Jane were awesome and the only supporting cast member who didn't blow monkey chunks was Kala. What Disney needs is another Lion King or Aladdin in that all the characters whether in main or supporting roles are stellar. One can dream...

Except for Kron I can't remember who the f*** any of these characters are. That's just how forgettable everyone is.

Saw Home on the Range for $4 at Newbury Comics. Debating getting it since I really do want to own all of the canon on DVD and/or Blu Ray at some point and don't think that that one is worth more than that.

Not to go on and on in a series of posts but

I agree with Mittens. If Penny really cared so much about her dog, why would she allow this type of thing to go on for five years? Knowing the dog had to live a lie, never really letting him enjoy her or the life of a dog that belongs to a regular person? She's a real person sure, but how real was the love she had for her dog? It's not like one mistake, it's five years of putting him through hell. Very unlikable.

I've got mixed feelings on this movie really.

Disney took a unique concept with a lot of potential and then botched its execution, making certain characters come across very poorly. Mittens and Rhino are great. Bolt and Penny are pretty damn bad, a fact made worse by the realization that these are the two original main characters. Overall it could have been a lot better.

Bolt, like a lot of lead characters, does certain things that are stupid in the name of achieving a goal which can be viewed by many as actually rather pointless. Sure Penny misses her dog, but she gave up the search for him because she's an actress. I just can't feel sorry for her, even if she is still clearly sad he was gone. Really bad personality trait and it literally reminds me of something Miley Cyrus might do (and look who the voice actress is!). At the end of the day though, I still like Bolt (the movie and the character).

But again, there's no true villain for me to rank here. The last "real" full length picture on the official Disney canon left for me to watch, that was the only reason I left it until now.
