Tototototootototodile pic: Tototototototodile! Man, I love this little punk! It's such a shame that its evolutions are so lame, otherwise, this would easily be one of the best Water starter lines. I mean, really: If you can't see the gap there, I don't even know what to tell you. Ash's Totodile in particular was fantastic, jumping around and biting stuff for the sake of it, Tototototototodilee! It always looked super happy, should've been given more attention IMO, at least as much attention as Cyndaquil and Bayleef. I think this is pretty unexpected, but Totodile is easily my favorite out of the base Johto starters. I love all three of them, but Totodile is just the right kind of badass, it's basically the only Johto starter who was almost able to be as good as the Kanto counterpart in the anime (and Squirtle was on a tier of its own already, more on that after the break). Totodile is one of those guys who's mostly about anime coolness and nostalgia for me, which is a big part of my love for a lot of pokémon (Buizel being the prime example). Abominable pic: Snover and Abomasnow have to be the most underrated pokémon ever. Snover is one of the cutest pokémon of all time, and the fact that people can't recognize that baffles me. Abomasnow is also amazing, if only because of Snow Warning: Ice based teams are among the funniest to use and are completely and undeniably fair. It gives Mamoswine, Froslass and Glaceon among the others a whole new way to shine. Abomasnow is my 2nd favorite Gen IV pokémon (1st is Buizel by far). I'm pretty sure that it's also the last one standing from Gen IV, unless I've been incoherent somewhere, which is unlikely. I get that Abomasnow is based on both snowy evergreen trees and yetis, an awesome combination for an unique typing, albeit unlucky in the weaknesses department. I now want to see an Abomasnow covered in Christmas decorations, let's see if I can find some fanart regarding that: Everything went better than expected, it looks so awesome, kind of cute too! Also, notice what the Pokedex says: "It whips up blizzards in mountains that are always buried in snow. It IS the abominable snowman". It f*ing IS the abominable snowman. Swellow looks swell indeed. I love the way its "hair" is "combed" backwars like a boss. It is a colorful and big bird, so it gets lots of points from me. It doesn't hurt that Swellow is also surprisingly decent in battle with a Flame/Toxic Orb + Guts + Facade combo. It doesn't even know what "coverage" means, but it hits like an entire row of trucks if your opponent doesn't resist it. Believe the words of a guy who used a bird team on battle simulators, it was my trustworthy lead. In Swellow's case, it's also a big selling point the fact that it has my favorite shiny form ever: Even the anime writers must have thought that it looked completely awesome, as they gave a shiny Swellow to Winona. I spent lots of time trying to breed a shiny Taillow in White, but I don't have nearly as much patience as Anagram does with this kind of stuff, so I just gave up. In the end, in the grand scheme of things of generic birds, Swellow is very "middle-of-the road". It isn't as cool as Pidgeot, not as unique as Noctowl, not as strong as Staraptor and... well, I guess it has Unfezant beaten at pretty much everything. Still, it has a bit of this and that in all of those departments, and the shiny boost in this case is pretty enormous. Honestly, I don't know why a sheep gets completely sheared as its final form, but I love Ampharos' body shape and the decorations, it looks kind of tribal and cool. I guess it's supposed to resemble a lighthouse more? I'm very attached to Ampharos, he was part of my first Silver team, when all the ignorant kids in my class were praising their Feralolators and I was the only one with a kickass Meganium. His job was exactly that, to kill the bastards. Unfortunately, its being a slow Electric type doomed it forever. I hadn't kept up with Amphy since Gen II, looks like its movepool got some nice upgrades in the form of Power Gem and Signal Beam. I bet it still sucks competitively, but at least it gets the job done in the games well enough. Amphy's subquest in the games can be annoying, surfing in the sea is never fun with all those nasty Tentacools and swimming pervs. It can especially be frustrating when you forget to get the HM04 Strength, because the game doesn't give any hint whatsoever and you need it to beat the Cianwood gym (because blocking the path to the gym leader with rocks isn't already dumb enough and worth reporting to the Pokémon League). You guessed it, you need to cross the sea three times if that's the case. Despite that happening to me more times than I'm willing to admit, I always blamed it on the programmers being jerks instead of Amphy and Jasmine, who I happen to love. Actually, I was thinking about doing a "rank Pokémon cities and gym leaders with one-liners" when I'm done with this, who knows. Ampharos is also one of the few third-stage pokes who look cute and peaceful. In fact, it looks much cuter like this than when it was a Mareep or a Flaaffy. In fact, I raised an Umbreon to lvl. 100 in Crystal because I loved its defensive, annoying play. Truth is, "annoyer" might as well be a dead role, with the metagame evolving into something so blatantly offensive nowadays. The slow and frustrating kills obtained through Mean Look shenanigans are among the things that I miss the most about the GSC days though, and there was hardly anyone capable of doing that as well as Umbreon with its solid defenses and a reliable recovery move. It truly was a "dark" pokémon at its finest. But my love for Umbreon also comes from its appearance. Feline/foxy/whatever pokémon usually look cool by default, but it stands out as one of the best Eeveelutions designs IMO, black suits it and it has simple details that fit well in contrast (unlike Glaceon) and don't make it look too plain (unlike Espeon). The rings might be... well, rings, but consider that they glow under the Moonlight. A small detail that gives a touch of elegance to its sleek body by just being there, without using any move. Didn't we already get the shaft hard enough by having lolmagmar instead of Buzz? Why did you discriminate Blue this much? Or, since I promised some more Pokémon Snap love, let's talk about the challenge of taking a good pic of Scyther, after throwing pester balls at random in the grass and hoping to hit it. I've played that game to death and a good Scyther pic is one of the most satisfying things that you could get, it's probably one of the hardest ones to get right and the reward isn't even close to the one for dumb Pikachus raging on a stupid chopped trunk. Now, with the Wii U, I hope that someone will bring Pokémon Snap back because it was possibly the best and most original Pokémon spin-off ever. Besides being the original Dragon line, in its tree forms it has everything you could want in a pokémon. Want cuteness? Dratini is one of the cutest things in the PokéWorld, want kickass power? Dragonite looks badass and is plenty powerful. If you, like me, like your pokémon when they're graceful and elegant, look no further than #15 (Well, at least for now). Dragonair is my favorite out of this excellent line. I love serpentine pokémon, I love blue, I love pokémon with wide movepools, I love classy pokémon, I love headwings. Somehow, Dragonair has all of this, together with this preciously mystique aura that makes it even more charming. It sure takes a helluva lot of time to raise Dratini into one of these and then into Dragonite, but the sense of fullfillment and satisfaction in the RBY games when they evolve is honestly unlike any other pokémon in the game, for it is much superior. Such a shame that the dumb guardian from the censored episode had to pull out a stupid gun when the incompetent Jennys in the anime aren't ever seen with one. I'm pretty sure that something as epic as this: Would've made Dragonair even more popular now. As seen from that pic, Dragonair is capable of flying, without huge wings or anything, it just does. Pretty rad. I feel that, with the plethora of dragons that have spawned from new generations, Dragonair has fallen in the background a bit. Sadly, there aren't many dragons that actually match its natural beauty IMO. In the internet era, super-secret legendaries are given through events and other stuff. They don't generate legends and myths anymore, there's not even a mystery aura about them, the game doesn't build up their appearances like the diaries in the Cinnabar Pokémon Mansion did for Mew. In short, they don't even give much thought to this kind of stuff anymore. Even Celebi, Mew's direct heir, was already much less exciting in every way. Now, if you were born no later than in the very early nineties like I did, and you got Pokémon Red and Blue as a kid like I did, you probably spent a lot of time trying to get the "Number island" in different places and trying to fish in those messed up water tiles. You probably looked through every single tile in the game searching for Mew. But, most of all, you probably tried to work your way around this: THE TRUCK. I'm pressing hard on nostalgia here and I know it, but seriously if you played R/B when you were a kid and this dumb truck isn't one of your fondest memories and one of the first things that pops up in your mind when you think of Mew, then your childhood, pokémon-wise, was a wasted one. She's got an attitude and she uses most of my favorite Water types (Or maybe I should say that she crafted what my taste in Water pokémon is nowadays, hard to tell), it's only natural that she would be leagues above Dawn and May for me (Iris is a bit more like her, minus the Water thing, so I kind of like her more than the others but still doesn't touch Misty). - I don't know if you guys daydream about being part of fictional universes of your favorite fandoms sometimes. I do this at times, I love using my imagination and creating new universes and plots (I actually wish I had writing skills sometimes), but I also love thinking of me being connected with universes that seem wonderful to me. Be glad that I at least don't write very bad fanfictions about it! Well, not to boast guys but I'm a Water Gym Leader in a small coastal town, and my Corsola kicks lots of ass with its Ancient Power shenanigans. Yeah, my Corsola is in the top percentage of Corsolas. In my free time I'm also part of Luffy's crew. All of these things make me love Corsola. It's a cute coral reef and it's such a bro that it lets people build houses on top of it. Don't forget that one of the coolest towns in any pokémon game, a.k.a. Pacifidlog Town is built above a large colony of Corsolas. As for Misty, you know the story, it was probably its best and most reliable pokémon through all of Johto. Well, Staryu and Poliwhirl were around its level, but she used Corsola A LOT, it probably got more action in the 20 episodes after it was caught than Goldeen in the entire time Misty was in Ash's group. It looked so happy and cheerful and it knew a lot of my favorite moves: Mirror Coat, Recover, Bubblebeam, Spike Cannon... these are some of the coolest looking moves in the series. How could you not love it? I didn't mention shiny Mew in my previous write-up, but Corsola basically has the same color scheme: a blue shiny form and a pink main form. One of the funniest pokémon in every possible way. I honestly don't even know what I should say about Gengar, everything about it is obvious at this point and there's no way anyone could hate this guy. If you do, please reconsider your life's purpose. It's not just excellent in battle and one of the few OUs who are actually lots of fun, I love its innate troll ways, ought to be a master of black humor and "unfunny" jokes. Haunter and Gengar are both awesome, and while Haunter may look better as an actual ghost (PROOF: found it looking for Gengar pics, man I'm putting this st as my wallpaper now), I love Gengar's "chill dude" look more, and this mesmerizing gaze: I've never raised a Gengar to level 100 just for one reason: When I was around 11 years old, I used to have one, but I gave it to a "friend" of mine to train it in the christmas break. When we returned to school, he didn't want to give it back, so we decided to settle this with a battle and BOOBIEQUEEN made short work of his team. He still didn't want to give it back, so me and my friends organized to take his cartridge during the break and transfer Gengar back into my cartridge. We succeded without him noticing, but the 11 yo dumbass me erased the file without transferring it to the Silver cartridge, so I lost it and decided to give up on having a Gengar. Thinking about it still makes me kind of angry at myself. I also proudly own this: Looks so beautiful with the slight transparency. Haunter and Gengar are both awesome, and while Haunter may look better as an actual ghost (PROOF: found it looking for Gengar pics, man I'm putting this st as my wallpaper now), I love Gengar's "chill dude" look more, and this mesmerizing gaze:I've never raised a Gengar to level 100 just for one reason: When I was around 11 years old, I used to have one, but I gave it to a "friend" of mine to train it in the christmas break. When we returned to school, he didn't want to give it back, so we decided to settle this with a battle and BOOBIEQUEEN made short work of his team. He still didn't want to give it back, so me and my friends organized to take his cartridge during the break and transfer Gengar back into my cartridge. We succeded without him noticing, but the 11 yo dumbass me erased the file without transferring it to the Silver cartridge, so I lost it and decided to give up on having a Gengar.
