I don't think he's booked like that anymore.

He's still the "mean boss" and all but during, say, the Austin feud, he was basically a psychopath. He's much more normal and toned down (yes, dancing with the Funkadactyls is toned down) now, I think.

I know PPV posters don't mean anything, but I want to believe that the No Way Out poster/commercial is telegraphing the finish to the match. AJ will help Bryan win and they'll get back together, but somehow it'll end up with her being the one in control of the relationship now, which keeps it from just going back to the same thing as before Wrestlemania.

Which is also how TNA books.

They don't plan things out in advance, they book show to show, but sometimes they go back and tie things in (ie, Jackson James being Garrett Bischoff) to make it LOOK like they planned things out in advance.

WWE and TNA have teams of full-time writers on staff! It's well documented how WWE storylines fly off the deep end, but what's the TNA team's excuse?

Was he on a losing streak? I admit I didn't watch every episode but all I remember from what I did watch was him running in and attacking people who were having matches, and being angry about SOMETHING which I thought was that he wasn't getting any matches. Maybe I filled that in myself because I just happened to miss every Impact he actually wrestled on, but I really remember something about him not having as many matches as everybody else.

The first half of the BFG series was Joe having a massive losing streak, which pissed him off so much he adopted an "If I can't win this thing, nobody will" attitude and just started randomly injurying people.
